I was told by the staff from Electrical shop that they have tested pirated disc on Samsung BD player and all didn't work
at all. I'm not sure whether is true but no point he is bluffing me...

As a player owner, I would say its not true smile.gif

AFAIK, the only entry level BD player available locally where the DVD is region free is, surprisingly, Sony S370. All the others are locked to Region 3, including the Samsung. Correct me if I am wrong.
*
Aiyo kawan that was very old question that I had posted and had been answered tongue.gif

ANyways, what you mention is correct, but the samsung player can be made region free by keying in the correct code. rclxms.gif WHich is standard to pretty much all the samsung players (dvd and BD players)

You are very right to go for HDTV first before the subwoofer; then get BD player after TV. Can upgrade one by one and not all at once. I think not allow to discuss ahem BD in the forum so can PM me if you wan to know more and not get cheated by what is in the market. The best is to get Ori BD but I can understand the budget issue, so can buy those on offer first and build up your collection slowly.  hmm.gif

Hi bro, by the way this Samsung BD player able to play those 'ahem' blu-ray disc cos I heard the salesman from electrical shop said impossible.
Even myself can't afford to buy those ori disc, it so expensive!
2nd thing, does this player is a region free?
What is the latest price now?

Thanks in advance

BTW, you can buy used BD for RM 50-70, thats good price, many at LYN are selling it, check it out.

As I said earlier, no problem in playing any disc on this player.

The DVD would come with region 3 but can be made region free (check on previous post or google how to do it) . whereas BD comes as Region A

A lot of way to get original BD, pirated BD ain't cheap (those RM 10 or below is not a BD, it is just a DVD9 with fake BD logo outside, pirated BD for single layer is around RM 25 and dual layer is around RM 40). Not worth to get, and you won't get the exact quality compare with original BD. (Most latest BD out now is dual layer).

Some 2nd hand BD price is ok at lowyat forum, a lot of promotion items at Amazon US or UK(make sure it is region free) is dirt cheap, with standard shipping apply, some titles even cheaper than those a-hem BD.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I already said ask that salesman from that electrical shop bang wall lo....
I reply this before, and others people also telling you no problem on a-hem disc, if you still believe that salesman word, I got nothing to say.

-----------------------------------------------------------
All BD player now is region A locked, except Dune & Oppo (cost around RM 2k). The DVD part for Sony S370 is region free, and for Samsung BD-C5500 is region 3 locked but can simply unlock became region free. (The BD part is still remain region A locked)

  • Amazon US use USD
  • Amazon Canada use CAD
  • Amazon UK use GBP (make sure check BD region before purchase)
  • Amazon German, France & Italy use EUR (make sure check BD region before purchase)
  • Amazon Japan use JPY
  • Amazon China use CNY
You can use credit card or debit card, it is safe.

Guys, fyi please take note don't ever go and buy things from Best Denki at Summit USJ.
The salesman are CON! They are liars...
It happened last few days ago when I went there and ask what is the price for Samsung BD-C5500.
Walau wei, the sale fellow said about RM 900+. Then I said what!!?? Are you sure??
Then I told him other place sell only about RM 500. Immediately I walked away and whisper myself better tell him bang the door la!

I surely will not go there anymore again and I guess most other DEnki are the same. That's why you can see nowadays
Best Denki's business and reputation like shit compares to others...

Seriously, I dont think its Best Denki alone, I think many electrical shops are ignorant of the price change, and keeps on displaying the same old price.

Before I bought the player, I too walked in many shops and thats what I found, even some reputable shop that I trusted, since I have bought many things with them in past.

I did the same like you by searching around until my leg tired...even now harvey norman sell RM 500+.
What I really found out that don't go to those big and huge well known electrical shop, instead go
to those Electrical shop at town area and sometimes near kampung area, cos they sell at distributor price. Cheaper.

I bought it from a forumer here, check on my previous post, but this model had been sold out now.
BD Live, is basically, bonus download from internet when you are viewing a movie on BD. You need to have your BDPLayer connected to internet.

BD-Live need internet access with high speed bandwidth as it need to download those extra things to your internal memory or USB drive.

It is quite not useful. Better disable for reduce disc loading issue.

BD-Live is internet content that works in conjunction with Blu-Ray. Think of it as extras in addition to whatever extras that are on your Blu-Ray disc. The contect can include extra show info, scenes, interviews, previews, and even games. Some Blu-Ray units also have build in memory or expandable memory so you can save this content and play it offline.

thanks andrew for the info. I have another question, do you know why the display of the status (running time) on the player when playing BD disc has
disappear? I press the button "bonus view" then only comes up.
