I tried to add bananas in the whey protein, blend with milk, oat, banana everytime I drink. 3 times a day. 2nd time post workout during workout day. Taking the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein.

Previously took 3 big can of weight gainer by GNC, no use.

Whey protein is low on carbs/fats calories. So it's not for weight gain. Looking at ON 100% it only gives 24g of protein so 3 shakes will be 72 grams of protein only. Ideally, if you wanna gaim some mass, you need about 1-1.5g protein per lb of body weight. That's the easiest guide you can follow.

Whey is more suitable for ppl who are on cutting diet and also maintenance.
If u want to gain mass, get some mass gainer products such as Muscle Juice, Serious Mass, TrueMass, RealGain etc. I gained 4kg of muscles and fats when in 1 month with my TrueMass and also calorie surplus intake per day.

PS: during your "getting fat/bulking" period, cut down on cardio activities such as jogging, swimming.

If you didn't intake more than enough calories for your daily requirement, definitely you won't gain weight no matter what. Did you follow the recommended serving size for the GNC weight gainer? As I know GNC weight gainer has a lot of empty calories, I would suggest True Mass or MuscleJuice if you are an ectomorph, and also incoporate more real food into your diet as what was mentioned.

Its possible to gain weight with whey, but then you'll have to take lots of servings lol. As I know one scoop has around 100+ calories. What real food you're eating and how much you're eating is the key question, not the question you posted.

Gd luck and lift hard.

So what other food do you guys suggest me to blend the whey protein with? Currently I just put in banana, oat.

I just have one big problem is that everytime after drinking it, I won't have a good appetite for the next meal.

whey is not for you to gain weight. by having protein shake alone without working out u wont be able to gain weight as well.

so conclusion is eat more clean food, drink your protein shakes and go workout at the gym!! sure gain!!

currently im 170cm, 63-65kg...i took weight gainer constantly, but now thought of taking more protein rather than weight gainer, as my tummy is getting bigger...so if i continue work out and cardio, do i still gain muscle and at the same time reduce my tummy fat? ..its kind of hard to straight a balance btw that..my ideal weight is 70kg...but now seems my tummy is getting bigger and faster than my other body part..any idea?

thanks,

well you will but it will be tough to gain muscle and reduce fat at the same time.. usually people do the first part first and the latter later. because muscle helps to burn fat even when you are not working out, thats why people gain muscle first, and then later oni jaga makan to cut and burn off the fat.

If you are an ecto or a natural hardgainer then you might want to gain muscle first then only cut, because ectos (like me) require a lot of calories daily due to our natural high metabolism.. or try to eat more protein instead of carbs, like take protein for your snacks and carbs only during your main 2 or 3 meals, IF the tummy is really bothering you la.

TS: I was like you too.. I didn't take any gainer constantly, I only bought trial small packets that my old gym used to pack. I gained from 58kg to 65kg currently, but also gained some bodyfat in the process.. just train and eat more like 5-6 meals a day, if cannot, at least 3 big meals 1-2 snack meals a day, you'll be fine. make sure to do compound exercises.. and just in my opinion, youre gonna have to squat. or deadlift, if you wanna grow bigger. (which indirectly means gain weight, or muscle mass)
