Anyone can confirm the latency on Maxis home fibre compared with Unifi ? I believe Unifi's is under 10ms.

Hi,

DrPitchard you seem to be the go to guy regarding the special RM118 deal so i would like to ask some questions. =D

while i wish you could answer the quota being implemented in june thing by one of the TTDI staff (i still do =x) i under stand if you have difficulties in answering that q. (please do thou =3)

anyway, a few questions:

1. is there a clause that would allow me to cancel my contract with maxis if i find the service unsatisfactory? Perhaps like i only get 1mbps for a month, frequent disconnections... [i mean without paying the fine]
2. is there a trial period? one month? (like your wireless broadband package)
3. if i hit the maximum of my quota (if), what would be my speed?
4. or is it a complete block on my internet surfing capabilities?

Holiday? Alas, I'm working. Since I am a freelancer and work on a project basis, I gotta take what comes, and work whatever long hours I need to work. Such is the life of a modern day ronin. But I guess it's better than being a NEET.

I'm an OKU, can I get 50% discount from this RM118 promo package?

If 50% discount, that means I only need to pay RM59/month right?

Could someone clarify about this. I saw OKU get 50% in FAQ

QUOTE(eric84cool @ May 22 2012, 11:59 AM)

Can anyone clarify more on this?

I have a OKU sister too but if you read properly, it was listed 50% discount for home fibre but not under home fibre special offer. Who tried?

Added on May 23, 2012, 6:49 amJust checked Maxis site... Guess what I had in mind...

Simply put it latency is the ping time from your computer to a server. The shorter the ping time, the lower the latency.

Not entirely true.
Latency is time to get from point A to point B.
Shorter latency means your access to resources B is quicker. Internet has billions of point A,B, C,...

wahlau..so even the latency is shorter also not necessaryly means that you will have fast connection to the server outside? shocking.gif

Let's say ping time to Server A is 10ms and ping time to Server B is 20ms.
If all factors being equal, accessing Server A is faster than Server B.

Let's say server A is serving 1 million users and Server serving on 1000 users.
Server B access would be faster actually.

Latency is measured at that point in time...does not guarantee it will be the same 24x7x365.
