I agree with you, my iphone 4's reception is not good as well even when not holding the death grip area.
The signal bar & 3G signal (it switch to adge or gprs quite often) are relatively poor compare to my previous 3GS when using in the same area..

receive my iphone 4g set this morning from digi centre.

for now i didnt notice any problem (lucky me) phone reception full bar and sometimes drop one bar only. no Death-of-Grip issue.
only have to look for a good iphone case to protect it. digi only supply front screen protector. tomorrow only start 3g internet activation. will test on speed & respond.

ok guys, i recently read an article in newspaper( few days ago ) (chinese) it said that malaysia maxis ceo claim that the iphone 4 unit which sell by maxis do not have antenna issue. anyone can comfirm this?

I find it does have issue, at least to my iP4....did not drop calls so far...but signal does drop from 5 bars down to 1 (in 3G)

i think all stock also same de la sure got death grip 1....
just depends the signal strength on ur area. if it is strong den shouldn't be a big prob.
if only 3 bars den will drop to 1 bar n cause some prob.

btw start from ios4.0.1 the signal bar is diff. so on ios4.0 u will get 5 bar but in ios4.0.2 n above u will only get 3 bars.

I've already upgraded all the way to IOS 4.1......i see the bars pretty much the same behaviour la.

But so far IOS4.1 no probs at all!! Safe to upgrade!

if same behaviours tat mean ur place signal strength is very strong.

cos last time -91 on ios4 oledi can get full bar.
now newer ios -91 only get 3 bars

my iphone4 32G having the antenna issue.. i got mine set at maxis during pre launch event.. when holding the death grip... the line drop from 4, 3, 2, 1 to searching.. no service.. does anyone having the same issue as mine? or 16G working well or im so lucky that i bought the only set that has this issue? i have updated to OS4.1.. is this issue official solved? or it's still a known issues as what apple said "This is a fact of life for every wireless phone".....

If this issue is still exist in all maxis set or a ongoing case.. n why maxis don't offer us the free bumper (instead i have to use sg itune to redeem one) .. which i think is not fair to us.. and i have tested if fitted with bumper then the issue is solved..

Hardware problem, cannot be solved.
Even if complaint they can't do anything too.

* I bet you can still sell it out at reasonable price.

if this is the hardware design problem, that mean all iphone4 have this issue right? ppl speculate maxis selling the new batch.. no antenna issue.. some said update to OS4.1 can solved.. damn.. kena conned already..

MAXIS set - depend on your luck. My friend got his from Malacca and told me he has no signal n dropbar issues. Since is new set, no harm trying to get a replacement if one has so many problems with it

I doubt you can get a replacement with such the signal issue. Afterall all units r the same. No point getting a replacement.

lol, so many people get many problems..luckily mine no deathgrip problem..also upgraded to ios4.1 since 1st day..ipoh is damn slow..last monday (27/09) only launch..& whole ipoh only get 80sets 16gb & 60sets 32gb from maxis..but realli strange..digi seems like no one even wants to sign up..no queue at all..

is other place got same thing?

to be honest, all my frens who bought from maxis experiencing some sort of signal prblem. some either drops to 1 bar or to no signal. depends on the 3g strength in dat area. ur fren might have been testin it in a good coverage area, thus no issues. its best just to use a case/cover and jst close one eye. although the signal drops on my set, its not as bad as how they made it to be. i stil can sms and call although 1 bar. just dun be too obsessed over the signal gfx on d fone.

+1, that's more like the real scenario. Maybe we should drop the signal issue once and for all and move on to some other topics regarding iphone 4. Anyone having camera issues? Splotching & yellow tint etc?
