QUOTE(jack2 @ Aug 11 2006, 12:41 AM) Anyone here tried Alliance Bank Interbank transfer before? Interbank fund transfer takes time to process. My friend experience roughly the same situation as yours when he tried to transfer money from Maybank to PB.I was told by the bank that the require time for the recepient to receive the money is depend on the crediting bank. I asked if I transfer before the daily cut off time, will the beneficiary receive the money on the same day. She answered me it depends on the crediting bank whether they have a lot of batches to be processed or not.. But she said the latest is 3 days... Damn, where got such answer? Even Maybank, Ambank etc write on their web that the benificiary will receive the money either on the same day or the next working day if the transfer is performed before the cut of time/ or after. Sucx! |

I don't know ... perhaps it was a transfer from PB to Maybank. I can't remember much. It's quite some time already.

QUOTE(sunbeams @ Aug 5 2006, 01:04 AM) Citibank sure does make things much more complicated. Here are the rules for choosing your new Citibank online banking user id and password: I believe it happened because of the fraud case. I'm fine with most except the "cannot have more than 3 consecutive characters" rule. It's the funniest rule i've ever seen in public websites and I don't understand how it helps citibank become more secure. This post has been edited by samurai1337: Aug 13 2006, 09:57 AM |

It's the funniest rule i've ever seen in public websites and I don't understand how it helps citibank become more secure. It's a way of ensuring users do not choose passwords that are too easy to crack. They probably did a historical finding on passwords that customers use, and many of them might have similar patterns. |

hmm, i tot my impractical 50-char alphanumeric username & password were good enough to fit the rules
anyway, i dont hv citibank account, but an example of simple & effective password would be MONDAY911DECEMBER or MON9DAY11. i always use two common dictionary words and join/break them with numbers. using BM or even other dialect/slang words would be a good choice too. In my case, I would spell a phrase (name, sentence, idiom) in Thai. Since the Thai character set uses both alpha and numeric sections of the keyboard, it would be hard to crack. And also conforms to the password policy. |

anyone uses ocbc online banking before?
questions: 1. is there any extra fees? 2. how to apply? 3. what functions is available in the internet banking? - can we set bpay? (direct debit to pay bills or manual pay to bills company) - can we 'pay anyone'? (means to any account) - can we transfer funds to and from fixed deposit? havent used any internet banking in msia before, using westpac bank of melbourne internet banking and it's really good. There's this account call MaxIdirect with 5.26% annual interest - not fixed deposit, rather like a savings bank account where u can only transfer funds thru internet or phone banking. is there such account in any banks in msia? |

% rate in Malaysia banks are very unattractive compared to OZ.
all the features u are looking for are offered at most online banks, except for "can we transfer funds to and from fixed deposit?" i know maybank allows online placement of FD and auto-debit on maturity. Hong Leong or BCB, dont allow this. sorry, no experience with OCBC. This post has been edited by acougan: Aug 16 2006, 02:15 PM |

in cases of emergency, u either collect the FD certificate at your home branch or ask the home branch (in case of different states) to courier it to u. online cancelling or withdrawal is not offered. (not sure about phone banking)
i advise ppl who apply online mb2u FD to opt for duration 1 month only to avoid all the hassles in cases of emergency. This post has been edited by acougan: Aug 16 2006, 02:43 PM |

when it comes to online banking, doesn't the weakest link of their security system lies in the average customers & the PCs they use to login? so best security is an informed & vigilant online customer
