You can pay by cash when you attend your appointment. Just inform them you would like to get the priority visa service when they check your documents. They will actually ask you if you want to purchase any other services as well.

If Malaysia gets removed from the low-risk category, I think things will just be more or less the same as before we got included into the low-risk category. Providing financial evidence was compulsory anyway when I applied in year 2011.

Yes you can, in fact, I did that. I submitted my original education certificates along with photocopies, and also bank letter as well although they're optional.

EDIT:
Just went to VFS at Wisma MCA to collect my passport. Visa application approved.  thumbup.gif
They fixed their queue system, now it's much better.

Hi, I used my parent's account. Although it's a joint account with me, the bank letter issued states my parent as the sole account holder, and stated my relationship with my parent.
The staff at VFS suggested me to submit the bank letter anyway although I didn't bring along my birth certificate (wasn't able to get it translated in time), since the bank letter clearly stated both my parents' and my name, and also stated the relationship. In the end I did submitted it.

I'm not sure if birth certificate was required, it could be the high commission decided to ignore it since financial evidence is optional to submit.

Usual flight from Malaysia to London ranges between RM2.6k- RM4.5k for a return trip depending on airline. A lot of people use Emirates and KLM.

you can only use it for one year. that's the duration jpj will issue. then, you can just re-apply again after one year. (it should not happen but i did it and it worked)

Changes affecting international students at UK universities

Students will need evidence of significantly more savings on arrival. The amount of money they need to have access to will increase from November. This will apply to international students extending their time here, as well as those coming for the first time, and will be higher for students in London. The area considered as London is also being expanded so a great number of students will be affected. International students currently need to show they have enough money for course fees and living costs for either two months – if they have an “established presence” – or nine months. But the established presence provision is being removed, so all students will need to show they can support themselves for up to nine months or the full length of their course, whichever is shorter. A PhD student, for instance, in London and needing to extend for nine months will have to show they have £11,385 in the bank rather than the current £2040.

Stricter rules around academic progression. From 3 August, students wanting to extend their general visas must be moving up a level on the National Qualifications Framework. Those hoping to extend their studies at the same level will only be able to if their proposed course is linked to their previous one, or if it supports their career aspirations, as determined by their university. So, for example, you won’t be able to do a BA in English if you already have one in sociology. Applicants for PhD or doctoral qualifications can continue at the same level.

The minimum salary requirement for tier 2 visas is likely to increase. The government’s Migration Advisory Committee is reviewing tier 2 visas – the most common route by which international students stay and work in the UK – in a bid to reduce the number of non-EEA migrants working in the UK. To be able to stay and work with a tier 2 (general) visa after their studies, an international graduate’s employer must currently pay at least £20,800 and sponsor a work visa, but this minimum salary requirement looks set to rise. A small number of international students may be able to stay and work in the UK by other means, such as a tier 1 (graduate entrepreneur) visa, a tier 5 (temporary worker) visa, a tier 1 (entrepreneur) visa or a tier 1 (investor). Information about these can be found here.

Tier 4 students at publicly funded further education colleges are no longer permitted to work while they study.

“Currently most migrant students at colleges may work up to 10 hours per week. This will impact students from poorer countries the most, as often their families will be unable to offer financial support,” according to ‘Workpermit.com’, an immigration specialist.

At the same time, a restriction was implemented on the new courses that Tier 4 University students may study to those which have 'a link to their previous course', or which 'support their career aspirations', as determined by their university.

Both rules are already in place.

if one is going to FE college is definitely affected, with the world catching the cold from china alot to watch out on this topic in the coming months

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Majlis Amanah Rakyat Inc (MARA Inc) should sell its properties in Melbourne and use the money to disburse more student loans for Malay students pursuing their studies abroad, Perkasa’s Datuk Ibrahim Ali said today.

Explaining his suggestion, the Malay rights group chief said he has received numerous complaints from Malay medical students in the Middle East who may have to discontinue their studies due to lack of funds.

“These medical students have six years to study, it will be a waste if they stop halfway due to lack of money. I suggest the government, MARA to help them,” Ibrahim said.

“MARA should reopen their policies to help these students, and if they claim to have no money, they can sell their Melbourne’s properties and use that money to help these students to continue their education.”

MARA and its property investment body, MARA Inc, have been under fire over its Melbourne buys since Australian daily The Age exposed links between top MARA officials and certain businessmen connected to the ruling Barisan Nasional on the purchase of a student housing block in the Australian city.

Don't worry about it too much. They won't check. FYI my university actually offer free Windows OS as well as other softwares used by students for their studies so check your university if they also offer the same.
