idling temp is around 50-55, using xigmatek hdt-1283, intending to break it to 500fsb to see if my proc and mobo able to. Running daily would be around 4ghz

I dunno if someone already open this thread before cuz i browse through but never seen E8600 being oc'd.. so let me start first.. i have a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.3Ghz E0 stepping (thanks to NickMan). What i did was pair'd it up with a Asus Maximus II Formula P45 mobo and the magic starts to happen. First of all i tried a 400X10 = 4.0Ghz at stock V.Core and it worked so i tried step by step to reach the max OC speed. Forgot to say. I was using Coolermaster Gemini II with 2 Vizo 1800RPM 12mm fans. So at 4.0Ghz @ 52c non air-cond room was stable without fail. I tried raising the clock speed again by 400~410~420~430. at 430X10 = 4.3Ghz it failed and end up with a blue screen of death. So i started raising the v.core to 1.392V and it load ok. but the tempreature gave me goosebumps. Which was at 76c.. quite high for a processor tempreature. so i took the risk and played with the clock.. For this time i used 440X10 = 4.4Ghz OMG!!!! it reached without fail. but temps were tempting. 76c idol and 92c 100% Load!!! really2 going to have an heart attack. so again i pushed it to 450X10 = 4.5Ghz stable but HOT!!! 85c at normal and 98c at 100% LOAD!!! wuhh... can fry egg!!! i tried to push it higher to 460X10 it managed to change the speed to 4.6Ghz but then restart so i know it was heating cuz i set the max temp at 100c. what was i thinking risking a lot of $$$ just to oc.. but it was a fun experiment cuz its really hard to reach those clock speed with air cooling instead of water cooling.. now what im planning is to find a watercooling set that can support my E8600.. no Thermaltake or Coolermaster toys.. what i have in mind is a Zalman resovator 2 or from Swiftech.. i heard thier pumps are great... ok for my test Bed was using

do you run your stress program with CPU-Z (or other realtime CPU speed reporting tool) in background?
because once the CPU hit tjmax thermal throttle will make CPU multiplier drop to 6x.
btw, nice rig man tongue.gif

well i hav a e8600. Managed to clock at 450x10 4.5ghz 1800 fsb air cooling with no fail. I posted it but now closed. Waiting 4 mod to put it here. The testbed was.
Intel core 2 duo E8600
Asus Maximus 2 formula
Coolermaster gemini 2.
I tried 4.6ghz but pc restart. Think temp reachd 100c cuz i set it at that point to restart. But it did run 4 a while cuz playing cod4 just after the oc.
