idle 45 load never stress it, juz for gaming. 61 when gaming, reported by latest Everest. but from my review, they said E8400 10C cool from the reading show, mean idle should be 35?? not sure bout this. correct me if i'm wrong

quick oc on a retail e8400 E0 smile.gif
got a strange problem, the temp is very high even at low vcore, when ibt, core temp show below 70c, while the mobo cpu temp can goes up to 85c
anyone know what wrong with it? rclxub.gif

Hi there guys,

You guys getting below 70C for stock cooler? Issit the same silver base cooler or those older copper bottom stock cooler?
Even at stock speed, my E8500 has 57~58 idling temp and full load temp at 82C. This is with stock intel cooler with silver bottom.
I went to buy those older Coolermaster cooler with copper bottom today. Installed already, idling temp still 52C and full load temp is 74C.
If I overclock it to 400FSB @ 3.8GHz, idling at 55~57C and full load @ 79C.

I wonder what did you guys do because your temp seem so far away from mine. Mine is E8500 C0.
Will try 4GHz later...

E0 overclock better as it runs cooler.
It doesnt matter for me as I dont overclock like crazy...

Any E8xxx should be able to reach 3.8GHz easily without changing Vcore. Mine does 3.8GHz with a flip of the FSB to 400. Just change the stock heatsink to those old type P4 cooler and full load at 79C.

dont think any e8xxx can do 3.8ghz at stock vcore, especially e8200 and some bad batch e8400..

No... that fella lower the multiplier of 8600 to 9.5 to make both of it clock the same which is 9.5x. So the speed is same but result is different.

Intel PDC E5200 would be a better choice.
