A few points that can be taken from this match :

1. Torres caused problems to the defence and create both for Gerrard to score...hope he continues his rehab to 100% a.s.a.p
2. Raul Meireles has his 1st start to the BPL and he looks good. Tidy and did some good forward runs, but he still doesn't look comfortable around his new teammates yet.
3. Joe Cole hasn't click well with the players yet, maybe he need some time. He seems better to partner Torres up front though.
4. Maxi hasn't got his confidence yet, perhaps give more play time to Ryan Babel?
5. Carra is outmuscled by Berbatov, seems like his age is catching up... sad.gif
6. Berbatov is getting back his good form from his Spurs days...which is 3 seasons late. He seems on top of the world today as all his goals were well taken and Reina can't do much about it. :/

It think it was a good game from liverpool despite the lost. Im quite happy with midfield keeping the ball in the middle.

2nd that. I did not see our centerbacks pumping long balls forward anymore, we kept the ball well. Even my frens who doesn't watch football goes like " Wa liverpool actually kept the ball very well. "

I seriously think that Babel could've started this game instead of Maxi. He's been awful for the past couple of games replacing Kuyt on the right.

they play possession mode game (safe play)

any team should play this when they are leading.

The only problem with the tactics today is that our midfielders didn't feed the ball to Torres like the previous games. We had many passes but most of them didn't get to Torres at all. Of course he's not having a great game. Hats off to Berba though, I have to admit he was brilliant in finishing today.
Look on the brighter side guys, so far most of the top teams we've played on away. I just hope that when they come to Anfield, we'll turn the tables around.

Personally, I think we lack fluidity in attacking. A couple of matches together will definitely help in building the player's understanding better. Everyone did fairly well and what I was hoping to see was our wingers spreading out wide. They were playing too narrow and that made both Johnson and Konchesky looked more than a fullback. They have to defend and attack at the same time, leaving gaps behind for Carragher and Skrtel to cover. Our defence were clumsy and weak in aerial battle. We often see how simple clearances could be made. Instead, they chose to run around, back passing to Reina. We should be grateful we buried two of our chances well. If we keep up our consistency, there's definitely more room to improve and work on.

ya i don't know Babel isn't playing. atleast he was getting 1 or 2 minutes under Rafa.

i'm just going to look at the positives. losing to them is always hard to take.

(+) - Meireles' passing, Poulsen in general, Gerrard finally scored, Torres looked motivated in 2nd half, Agger's response to the future grammy winner Nani.

(-) - Very negative, No Pace in flanks, no support to attack, poor aerial defending.

Next game at Anfield, hopefully Roy can sort the mess by then.

No offense but did u watch all our previous games last season? Jamie and Daniel has been pumping all the balls forward for almost every chance they had. zzz .

Damn , Barcelona is the safest team in the world then.

I think Cole should play behind Torres. We need a much more effective winger on the left side. Meireles was decent when he was on the right side for a while but I don't think it's his natural position. But seriously, RH needs to figure out the best tactics for the team quickly, or we'll be in deep sh*t!

loads of optimistic fellas around but we have been poor for weeks...

MU's slack gave us a 15 minutes of mad football....but serious....we were poor for almost 70 minutes!!!!

and with exception of the Bucharest game, i cant remember any fluid and composed display

plenty to cry over...nothing much to cheer about....

i dont see any light, with exception of Raul might turn out to be a useful player....

folks..the TABLE does not lie....i know we only played 5 games but position 16 and-3 goal difference ( MINUS 3!) is exactly what our football deserve....

yes. RB tactic is too feed the ball from deep. It was efficient when likes of Crouch or Heskey were there to hold up the ball. Torres is not that really good in aerial or to hold up the ball. Ngog is better in that role.

But he was in bench.

To have Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd in the first 5 games of the season is indeed a very tough task to us as Roy Hodgson hasn't even settled with his best 11 yet. Our only hope is that when the weaker matches come along, we are able to take full advantage and not slip up.

It's a worrying sign. Apart from 15 mins today..and the 2nd half against Arsenal, we have been way, way off our best. This season most players have not lived up to expectations..

Not surprising, really. The last match United had an answer to us after beating them 3 in a row - Fletcher. Let's just say we never played well since the beginning of last season when the opposition presses us high up the field. The scoreline's flattering anyway, we deserve to be trashed 3-0. Less said about our defending the better.

Only positive I could see is that Poulsen is starting to adapt to the game and Meireles could be a quality signing. Unfortunately that alone won't be enough to save our season.

Next 2 PL games are Home games against Sunderland and Blackpool. If we don't win this convincingly, probably it's time to accept that we're a mid-table team after all.

I dont know why you guys are so down about this defeat.

first off, old trafford is one of the toughest places to play. period. and not to mention man u's pass two home games, they won 3-0 each. and man u is not a team to concede alot, if any goals at home.

yes, we played badly in the first half, we got better in the second. we did GREAT to score 2 goals away from home. players , ie Stevie G, Joe Cole, Torres looked lively. Id say this is a considerably good performance against one of the best teams around.

im hoping our good form continues till the end of the season and may it only get better.

Id say good game overall, poor defending, berbatov finished very well.
