If I were to compare somebody to Alonso, it'd be Xavi Hernandez from Barcelona, a player who is a true playmaker plus he has the composure to dribble past slower defenders and skills to prevent the ball from being tackled easily.

Okay, not exactly Alonso's way of playing as he doesn't really play long lob through passes from deep but his accuracy in passing is just hard to ignore. He doesn't score much which makes it different from Alonso as he is no where as ambitious as Xabi, perhaps also due to the fact that he has Messi, Villa, Pedro as well as Iniesta to complete that for him.

If you are talking about somebody who bosses the midfield, Xavi Hernandez is the man.

Reina

glenny-Carra-Skrtel-Konchesky

Maxi/Pacheco----Gerrard-------Jova/Babel

Cole-----Meireles

Torres

This could be the best line-up to face Manyur....

now this WIN gives you guys and the Team some confidence rite?

juz wait for our WIN against MU, then u guys will start to praise how good RH and his new signings are biggrin.gif

and it will keep us in the Top 5 again

*
we won last season too but we ended up out of top 4.

winning at OT would be nice but i rather hold my cheers. it wont prove we are 'better' (maybe 1 match for some guys)

call me a pessimistic but 1 game wont define us. its consistency that eluded us & there havent been positive signs things are about to change so soon.

One win may serve to be a more booster but nothing more. I think fans these days are a little short sighted. There are bigger issues to consider than getting one over the mancs. Means nothing to beat them but lose to everyone else. Think long term, that is if you're in it for the long haul.

Added on September 18, 2010, 12:43 pmPraise Hodgson after just one game? Dude I won't praise him nor will I condemn him after just a few games. That trait is reserved for fair-weather fans who have little understanding of the game, and I'm not referring to the boys kicking the ball on the pitch, I'm referring to the fan who looks beyond what they see on the tv. If anything Liverpool fans are amongst the most patient and easy to please. You don't have to be great, you just need to show that you work your socks off. Too many of today's fans forget that. Too many sing praises of a player only to criticize him when he's had one bad game. Too many just as quickly turn around and praise him again after a good game. These are self serving fans who wants everyone to play well each game just so he feels good.

haha...its more for a younger fans or optimistic fans? dont be to harsh duke...nanti diorang makan hati....but im agree got these fans around you...everything they saw was good...but sometimes too much, we also get fed up...

im happy with Steau match, or maybe amaze what is actually happen that night...but still...thats not reflex our true performance.... let them run for another 6 games, and look whee are we on the table...2nd? 7th? 14th?

something to think about

if RH can give us EPL title this season, can he give us on next season? can we put him Liverpool best manager after 5 years with record 1 EPL title in his 1st year at Liverpool?

Put it this way lah, when some of us played down wins against the top sides in the past couple of seasons, it was often said that nothing would satisfy us. You'd get comments like, "lose also complain, win also complain". What they fail to realize is that we aren't complaining about the win. Heck I celebrate a win just like any other. The point is to not get carried away. I've seen a number of false dawns and until we can consistently grind out results, we will get no closer to winning the Premiership. I have been guilty of being pessimistic over the past couple of seasons but looking at the shape of our team now, looks like there was good reason to be.

I am somehow glad RH is put 2 line ups for diff competitions. Not to undermine Europa League, but presently Premier League comes first.
Although being the league champ is very farfetch at this moment, the push back to the top4 comes first.

Europa league and League Cup for bench players and youngsters are good. they get their game time there. FA cup and Premier we certainly need to field the best squad we have.

Europa league will serve the youngsters with good field exposure and experience. Amoo, Kelly, Shelvey, Wilson I sure hope to see them get more playing time. Ngog slowly but I hope eventually with Babel will play to their potential.
