I'm quite impress by the EVF actually because it has a FF-ish viewfinder and has external data and infos which is awesome and also light! I hope there was any advance semi-pro for these model with compact sizes .... so can carry with light prime all the way as you like ... |

But then if the a55 is so good already, and everybody is waiting for the a7XX, imagine how great it would be?!

I don't think A7xx would be impressive than the DSLT cameras ... although it has movie but like the A560/A580 ... may face some limitation or something else since they spend so much effort on their new system Well for LV neither A33/A55 has many limitation + drawback, while A560/A580 can perform well but slightly slower AF (3fps compare to 4fps on A550) with the same 7 fps shutter priority (unless it features the same as A33/A55 which is shutter/exposure lock but still able to continuously focus) however this just my opinion ... who knows Sony may make another shocking surprise for its successor .... the a7xx should have at least 16-18mp, Auto HDR, 7-10fps, Liveview, Tilt-able LCD, magnesium alloy body, 1080i full HD movie recording.....
and more.. lol. |

i dun like the a55 interface though.
cannot do local AF using the control pad one. i think need go in the menus. hopefully i am wrong. if not really no complains. Added on August 25, 2010, 1:52 pmas for my hopes for a7XX.. to make it simpler.. i hope it pawns the 1DMIV in every aspect..but still maintain the 6-7k price tag This post has been edited by zstan: Aug 25 2010, 01:52 PM |

The A33 and A55 cams have all the bells and whistles to attract the common consumers out there in the market. Things like HD video, sweep pano and etc.
It's designed to be glitzy and show off-ish and great in attracting attention but it's not quite the professional device. It's not that I'm not excited about the innovation Sony is showing but I'm more interested in how Sony will implement these feature into a semi-pro and pro body. EVF is fine for the entry level class but I do not think an EVF can beat an OVF in terms of practicality. We're staring at a miniscule screen with an EVF. Can we determine focus as well as we can compared to using an OVF? Can it give us a level of detail that is acceptable for pro macro work? If we sweep the cam around the room can the EVF keep up with it and not show us a smeared blur when the cam is in motion? A translucent mirror can provide continuous phase detect AF for video but it decreases the amount of light that can reach the sensor when taking pictures. It also makes an OVF darker as it does not refect as much light. Is there a way to incorporate a flexing transluscent mirror in a practical way so that we can get the best of both? I am still waiting for the A7xx before I get all excited but you guys go ahead and celebrate. P.S. At this point I am more excited about the price of the 85mm f2.8 lens than anything.
