jz to make last confirmation...
plan to buy a better lens...
at least a walk-around one...

1)16105
2)18200
3)18250

which is sharper...?
which gd af speed...
thx...
super zoom is not necessary... (the 18-200 and 18-250 is superzoom lens)
i nid sharp pics...
thx...

budget Rm1k and a little ++ for a used one...
*
depend how u need it and how concern are u with quality/iq... coz u might end up with proper tele lens for tele purpose. and short zoom for quality normal zoom range uses... (the 16-105 gets my vote)

guys...thinking of getting a hydrometer...

what's the optimum humidity for our gears a? 40 %? hmm.gif

n how is the power consumption for a small dry box?
*
40-50, most ppl set at 45%. its just for long storage to prevent fungal growth... but if u bring the camera* out often, fungus will not grow even the camera is expose to UV or sun for mere 1 sec, or even felt the wind from shutter/mirror, fungus also very picky with their growing area. smile.gif

the power consumption, is erm, u on ur laptop 1 day, u can use the drybox 1 year.

if u think u going to shoot video 51% of the time, get A33/55

if u think u going to shoot still photo 51% of the time, the A560/80 is better choice no matter what.

A55 is good for sport shooter with the marvelous AF-C (fulltime phase detect AF)... and if it's sucessful (since to me A55 is like a test rat)... i strongly believe sony will use the tech into Nex VG future model... then that is something really good to shout about. really fast AF vid cam! (with all the manual control)

ieR, but dpreview's tests show that the full time AF isnt up to par when it comes to tracking fast moving subjects. its giving a low yield
*
err compare to what? a contrast detection camera? or non AF high speed shooting? yea, its not perfect, but nothing come close either... :/ (also, i dont like DPreview... hehehe blekk)

ieR: The NEX-VG10 uses contrast detect AF while the a55 uses phase detect AF. Not quite the same thing!
*
lol, what i was trying to mean, if A55 translucent+phase detect can boost movie mode AF, i believe sony going to bring this design into 'Nex VG' future model (not VG10)... wont that be great? aps-c vid cam(full controls) with phase detect biggrin.gif it will be superb!

ieR, referring to high fps still image shooting. but of course they are comparing it to the likes of D300s, D3 and 1DmkIV and the likes, as only those will be able to achieve fps of that caliber.

at some point, i do agree as well. where else would one need 10fps? and if at 10fps, the yield is low, why use it?
agreed! biggrin.gif i too, dont get the point of the 10fps... even A550 7fps is pointless (for me, my 2 cent) hahahaha but maybe sport shooter would really needs it smile.gif

ieR: There will be no room for a mirror in the E-mount, so they might have to do phase detect on main sensor (like on a Sony patent.) The Fujifilm F300EXR already did it.

The 10 FPS really is just for bragging rights and poisoning sessions.

*
doh.gif doh.gif aiya forgetting E mount has no room... paiseh hahahaha

yea, poisons, there is few time i show people the A550 7fps... few of them went and buy one the next day LOL...

QUOTE(zstan @ Aug 27 2010, 10:24 AM)
now i understand why people keep saying tammy got back focus issue d. sad.gif

a few of my pics kena, especially those when i use my corner AF points.
*
hence i calibrate the my A300 AF myself... to compensate the tammy... but my 50 F1.4 has same issue too, not sure why or how... but after calibrate, it's just how i liked it... slightly more Front focus (where ear are easily blurred.)

dare not to calibrate my A550 yet... it has same issue even with 50F1.4... dunno why...(hate it when shoot close up portrait, the ear is sharper then the nose... lol)

not to mention Alpha DSLR has a more useful Flash system... while there is not news of future flash development for Nex Yet... just that tiny flash which will cast shadow when use the 18-55 zoomed at 55

Erm.. Is NEX's flash good enough to take pics of food ar??
*
oh, no no it has nothing to do with the result....

a food photo good or not, is up to the photographer, not the gear...

with the correct lens, and correct condition, a full understanding of WB, a photo can turn out really nice too!

what i mean flash is, something a little more advances... more towards studio setups

Added on August 28, 2010, 4:57 pmanyway, its not recommended to use direct flash on food photography ;P

i use cheap filter for my 50 F14... no issue, flare is not biggy.

but at night, i take it out, light sources will easily duplicate in filter.

a filter is always good for protection. the iq lost also merely 1% which 99% of us here resize the pic and lost all 50% information.. 1% is nothing.

summore 70% of us here has dirty lens (dust can appear at the rear, not necessary in front) and dust pop out in photo, that little dust affect more then 1%, but it didnt bother any much of us here.
