XZ-1 in my opinion has better hardware... while the jpeg processing in the Canon is better.

But ya... for convenience.. S90/95 is THE true compact... much more pocketable.

ps: DSLR (even entry ones) are a different ballgame altogether.. none of the compacts come close.
I got mine from lensmate

yeah, i think entry level dslr with F2.8 can even take better pictures due to the wider lense... but nvm, let me see how far i can push the s95 smile.gif

An entry level dslr with its 18-55 kit lens will whoopass any compact. Its at least 2 stops better

s95 user pls let me know ur video recording limit and ur memory card size.

4GB is the FAT32 file system limit. Other cameras may compress the vid more I suppose.

My main concern is why the video file size of s95 is so huge compare to other camera

Added on June 21, 2011, 9:31 pm@Adam

I used to own an alpha 300, sold it because i didn't like lugging it around, so usually left it home collecting dust although you can't deny the picture quality is awesome minus the heavy noise with the alpha sensor on higher isos compared to other dslrs.

i guess photography kind of bites me back, i want to be equipped with something decent compared to my current sony pns w120. I guess s95 would do fine, but xz-1 seems more customizable. hopefully a pocket slr would come out in the near future, so that i won't have a tough time choosing a cam.

A photo may be technically perfect but no inspirational value. Science vs Art

Tks for that, based on your result, i assume an empty 8gb card can record up to 60minutes clip only, which i think is too less.
May i know do we have any option on camera to lower down video quality and prolong the recording time?
