So the latest price for this camera is around the RM1200 - 1300 mark?
I am holding off my purchase until they come out with GPS function.

QUOTE(adam_lss @ Jun 17 2011, 10:30 AM) it would be a nice add on, but personally i dont really need a gps on the cam, coz it doesnt actually improve anything on the pictures It would be very useful when after years gone by, you can still tell where that photo was taken. As for short battery life, at any one location, I only intend to take one photo with geo-tag and then off the GPS to conserve battery life. |

QUOTE(nabelon @ Jun 22 2011, 01:51 AM) I used to own an alpha 300, sold it because i didn't like lugging it around, so usually left it home collecting dust although you can't deny the picture quality is awesome minus the heavy noise with the alpha sensor on higher isos compared to other dslrs. This is the reason why I am looking at the Nokia N8. Yes, I know it's a camera phone but it goes everywhere I go. Can't say that even for compact camera and the photo taken is supposedly even better than some dedicated compact camera like the Sony HX5. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 23 2011, 01:04 PM) The N8 is super slow. But still a heck of a lot faster than running home to pick up the compact camera at home Image quality is one thing la.. and while I reckon its normal that people expect their equipment to give them the best image quality by looking at the trends in consumer cameras these days but one crucial aspect that's been neglected is "handling". It's fine if u wanna shoot inanimate objects but by the time u get the N8 to get ready to take pics... the sun has set, the food has gone stale.... the gf has ran away... the decisive moment has gone. In that aspect.... the Iphone4's a much better point n shoot |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 23 2011, 01:27 PM) I'm all with the whole cliched best camera is the one with u thing.. just saying from little experience that the N8 may not be the best of the best camera with u cos the handling suxs. Please tell me more. I prefer good picture instead of speed and that's why I am looking at the N8. http://www.fonearena.com/blog/24096/nokia-...comparison.html What other would you recommend? QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 23 2011, 01:37 PM) I'm not really a phone person (so I won't know what to recommend u) but I considered the N8 before and have played with it. Yes, your understanding of my need is spot on. In a point n shoot perspective... when see something... u just wanna turn on ur camera/cameraphone and quickly snap right? With the N8.. have to wait... and wait... and wait for the camera to be operational before you can snap Eventually I settled with an Iphone 4 (doesn't mean that its the best) cos its so much faster for the camera to start taking pictures.. also the shot-to-shot time. As for good picture...if you look at all the legendary pictures in history.. most of them are taken with equipment far more "crappier" than ur average cameraphone. Hence my 2 cents that "image quality" is of lesser importance compared with the shooter and the handling. I was pretty impressed with the N8 photo quality. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41150345@N06/...ith/5160914864/ As for time taken to launch the camera 1st shot, yes, they did say N8 is slow like you mentioned: http://noqualityreview.wordpress.com/2011/...imaging-device/ |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 23 2011, 01:46 PM) The sorta comparison in the link is quite pointless actually. Reason being is that you're talking about point n shoots here with almost no control exposure... the difference is so minute and can tip both ways in even the slightest change of shooting conditions. I originally started looking for a GPS camera and was looking at the Panasonic TZ10/20 but came to conclusion I needed a more compact camera with better low light ability and not telephoto. Hence was looking at S95 and 4000IS but they don't have GPS. I will probably re-look at the next generation S95 if they have GPS.Personally.. I wouldn't even consider the IXUS or any plain point n shoot cameras. Like you say.. why carry another extra gadget the doesn't give any substantial benefit. Enthuasiast compacts like the S95 etc is a different ballgame altogether. The difference is not with the IQÂ per say but with the controls, in the right hands and know-how (just pointing and shooting will give the same result as any point n shoot camera really) , it can provide spectacular results. I can not consider your iPhone because it does not have the type of GPS package that Nokia has, namely, free worldwide map and voice navigation. QUOTE(Frida8 @ Jun 28 2011, 07:52 PM) want an iPhone so badly, I am not so sure after I read reviews saying the Nokia N8 takes better or just as good picture as the very good Sony HX5. A big plus for phone for sure is, it goes everywhere you go, unlike the cameras.but for photo shooting, I still prefer to use digital cameras |

Can you tell me:-now available in "titanium" colour option -RRP $430 available in Nov 2011 -all said i prefer the solid brick look and faster lens of S95. - 2 yrs warranty remaining on my s95 so not much reasons to upgrade. 1. What was the original price when S95 first came out? 2. When did it came out? 1 yr ago? 2 yrs ago? 3. What's the normal street price for a new S95 Give me what to expect with the S100. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Sep 16 2011, 10:18 AM) GPS and longer zoom may appeal to the more casual users but they already have good casual user powershot with long zoom and gps in the SX230. I do not need 14x optical zoom. I wanted a bigger aperture and GPS instead. |

QUOTE(aquos @ Sep 17 2011, 11:43 AM) s95 is better than s90 so s100 will surely be better than s95. My view exactly. Unless you are a professional photographer carrying your camera 24/7 everywhere you go or you actually expect to take photos that day so carry a dedicated camera with you, the best camera for many people is actually a phone with camera function. This is simply because people nowaday carry phone with them everywhere they go 24/7, some even took their phone into the own house toilet. Canon already claim s100 at iso1600 is the same as s95 at iso400. For me direct video button and ability to zoom during video shoot is a plus. Also s100 focus point can be moved around . s95 focus point is center at P mode which i normally use. At auto the camera chose the multi focus points. Right now i say no plan to upgrade but once Ken Rockwell claim it is the new "best compact in the world" ( now he claim it is the s95) I will rush out and buy the s100. I am a sucker for the guy's review. A seldom mention plus for s95/s90/s100 is its most compact size and lowest price when compared to other premium compacts. This encourage owners carry them around. The best camera is no use if kept at home. |

QUOTE(adam_lss @ Sep 17 2011, 03:38 PM) it doesnt matter whether the s100 is better than the s95 or not. most important, s95 users better ask urself if u are thinking of upgrading to the s100... have u really pushed the s95 to its very limit? i always believe, the best camera, is the camera u are currently having! A little correction. The best camera is the camera that happens to be in your hand at the time you wanted to use it, and not at home sitting in the drawer somewhere. |
