if you buy and register it within this Month, you will entittled for 1+2 yrs warranty by canon.

ah? so if ppl wanna buy after this month they won't get this warranty duration?

QUOTE(sheraton @ Dec 28 2010, 05:05 PM)
I bought it from Divine at Digital Mall. RM1259 with 4G card and case. It should be 1+2 warranty if you register the warrany online. However till now i can't get myself sign in to register the warranty. It kept hang at the sign up page.  doh.gif

hmm how come bubs66 said that we wouldn't be entitled to 1+2 yrs warranty if not buying it in this month.. =/

and oh, 1259 sounds like a steal.. i was expecting that it'll cost more than that

Been eyeing the S95 for some time now but kept waiting for a good deal, till I found out the 1+2 warranty expires on 31 Dec. So, went on a witch hunt yesterday just so I could qualify for the warranty.

Was at One Utama earlier and all the camera shops were out of stock. Called all the authorized Canon shops (those listed in their website) in and around Klang Valley, but apparently all out of stock.

Long story short, ended up paying 1,399 for the camera (+ screen protector, 4GB SD card, generic Canon black case) at Harvey Norman (AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang - apparently, I bought the 2nd last set) in desperation and came home to register online for the warranty successfully smile.gif Reading this forum, I guess I probably overpaid by a hundred bucks or so, but its ok la, the camera's worth it.

So morale of the story: If you've been eyeing something (especially if its as popular as the S95), just buy it when you can.. smile.gif

Happy new year, everyone!

wow, i bought it for RM1199 only 2 months ago but without sp, sd, case - re-use old class 6 sd, bought sp/case from ebay for less than RM10 each smile.gif.

it is a fantastic camera, i think i've only used the flash probably 10-20 times only out of all the hundreds of photos which I've taken so far. the f/2 aperture really helps for indoor/night shots.

only downside is really the lack of autofocus for movie mode but i'm willing to sacrifice this for compactness rather than go for the LX5 which will have autofocus but is much bigger. other than that, i'm extremely happy with this purchase.

yep, no autofocus in movie mode. not an issue if you're only taking short vid clips. the vid clips are of amazing quality for a compact/prosumer of this price.

don't take offense but not sure which part of "no autofocus in movie mode" is unclear.... smile.gif

you focus, press the shutter in movie mode, and it starts recording, but there is no CONTINUOUS AF. meaning if you focus something far, then pan to something near, it will be blur. to fix, simple, stop the movie, re-focus the nearer object then shoot again. the LX5 has CONTINUOUS AF in movie mode.

Added on January 2, 2011, 4:05 pmno way. canon s95, video mode can zoom while recording in movie mode? i don't think so.... mine surely cannot, and a lot of reviews/spec say the same so unless you're using some souped up s95... it's not possible to AF or zoom WHILE recording a movie... you can focus/zoom BEFORE you start recording but not WHILE recording.

The Zoom works ... but bear in mind that this is digital zoom ... not optical zoom ...

oh, digital zoom.... that's the first thing i turn off/disable in a digital camera. useless function, it can reduce the quality... i normally would rather use post-processing to 'digital zoom' if i need to.

but i would still use it in video mode, it's not easy to do it post-processing.

true - totally agree for video mode digital zoom may be useful, but i personally don't. i wonder if LX5 can do optical zoom in movie mode...

Hi. I browsed the entire thread but no one seems to discuss about the video taken with this camera lol.

I understand the video captured is in MOV H264 format, so how do we edit it in Windows environment?
