So far is this the cheapest Android 2.1 Tablet? But the price can still go lower.

Price drop or not, no ones know.

So far...there's no tablet launched and sold in Malaysia or perhaps in the world which running on Android 2.2 rclxms.gif
In fact, can safely say that this's the 1st 7" tablet officially launched and sold in the world running on 2.2

Viewsonic 7, Olive Pad, Camangi 600 just lauched in other parts of the world but I understood it only will be sold to public somewhere this month only.
All the mentioned tablet name is same with Droidpad Spice but software customize for each respective company that's selling it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab will follow soon but expect to pay at least min 2.5k for it.

Hi guys, I am in lowyat now attending the csl droidpad promotions. I noticed that the tablet is quite fast even with the 600 megahertze speed. The contrast is not bad, to me,not sure about other. For 3g video call it is not supported but accoeding to one of the staff, we can used fringe to do video call. Anybody has purchased it,please confirm. Other than that, it just like normal android phone but with bigger screen. Thanks

Go to youtube and search "csl mi700" MyTechNews.com have reviews on it from unboxing, browsing, video to apps. Looks promising as it speed is fast eventhou just using 600mhz cpu. From what he mentioned, the washed-out screen is becoz of the screen protector provided by the csl. I think if we remove the protector, it will look sharp as viewpad7 or olive pad.

Anyway, yesterday I went to lowyat, and i found that the price of 1599 is a catch because they give u extra 6 months warranty, bluetooth headset, a pouch and mini speaker.

What I like bout this tablet is that u can browse on full page with the big screen, and watching video is really great. Might have this as my primary phone tongue.gif.

Went to Digital Mall, there is a nice shop owned by a gentleman seller... He willingly let you test and really patience layan you..

The shop is on the last floor, same row with IT hypermarket but instead going into the IT store entrance from the main elevator, turn left towards the staircase leading to the rooftop parking... The shop is there near the staircase..

You can see a giant banner of CSL Droidpad.. go ahead ask and test..

(I don't promoting his shop, but was astonish by the shop owner politeness and patience in explaining the product without adding too much salt and pepper in it)

This is the best budget Android tablet one can buy now. There is no competition, and just forget about those China cheap makes retailing for RM 500 to RM700. It is a pain using them - tested some units at Spore, horribly slow, laggy and poor response

I tried fringe for video calls but it says the device is not supported. i think it may be a software imposed hardware restriction as I remember reading somewhere that minimum required for video calls on fringe/skype is 800mhz+ cpu.

I'll try search for the source info, but as of now, remains uncorroborated.

You have to go to setting and check " enable video" before you can start video call.

the video is showing viewpad7 but it is identical hardware as csl droidpad which both csl and viewsonic oem from other maker

look like viewpad7 also show similar symptom which not rotating between landscape/portrait, wonder is accelerometer problem or settings?

It didnt work on the OS interface level, but the apps work following the g-meter and accelerometer position.

CSL need to redo the Android packaging again for this tablet...

Without the compatible apps, the hardware is quite redundant.

Android developers will probably come too late in the game, due to the slow market penetration of these devices.

800x480 is the same screen resolution as Galaxy S, which is touted as a flagship device. Apps for this screen size should become popular.

The question is can the Droidpad run these apps when those flagship devices have 1ghz snapdragon/hummingbird whilst this only has a 600mhz Qualcomm SOC.

I think the Qualcomm 600mhz should be no problem as I can run Need For Speed very smoothly.

Only problem is the chipset can't support Flash 10.1 "at the moment "eventhough it's Froyo 2.2.
But I foresee once the device rooted, most likely we can install Flash although speed & performance might be an issue if running Flash.

They will release the "Flash lite" version ... Flash 4.0 for lower spec CPU. But dunno when.....
