@bold : Froyo or 2.1 ? Froyo is 2.2, Eclair is 2.1
What are you referring to actually ?
*
either 2.1 or 2.2 and above.

anything below 2.1...will be slow.

out side got selling those 7" android table d... less than 1 k...
seem like not much ppl wan buy ...if compare to ipad 2-3k
*
Yes, because most of these tablets are from China and most are running 1.5 or 1.6. Darn slow.

2nd is the storage is barely not enough with default 2 GB or even have to use extra storage via micro SD..too little storage to deem it usable.

If you seriously want to get, better go for 2.1 and above.

Any idea of the price of CSL tablet MI700 ?? I heard this is a good tablet running 2.1, storage at least 16 GB (if i'm not wrong), BUILT IN 3G !!

Waiting for the official launch....

Thanks

chances are these tablets are not made in malaysia nor designed by any malaysian at all.. CSL don't seems to be a manufacturer to me, more like they just rebrand some china stuff under their name and sell it..
*
Hmm...all along I tot CSL do manufacture their own phones, android phones and upcoming tablet.

Then have to wait for the unit available in the market to see the specs etc...as long as not China's cheapo stuff..If the specs, storage n running Android 2.1 up...can consider it.

I feel 7 inch is more suitable compare to 10 inch (too big) / 5 inch (a bit small).

Cheers !

if it's introduced, most probably it will be china stuff with CSL brand, look at their entire line up HERE.
All looks like ripoff from other manufacturers...  doh.gif blueberry doh.gif

it's merely rebranding, it's definitely not buatan malaysia, and i'm certainly not proud of it. doh.gif
*
For the phones, I think so..the names are almost like Blackberry..hehehe....renamed and sell in Malaysia under CSL ?

Now, imagine that...if they can bring in n repack their own name and sell....Might as well get direct from China...way much cheaper...I don't care about the name..as long as fully functionable..

Now, I'm tempting to check out China's made tablets..

Looking for with built in 3G ..so i do not have to get the external 3G thumbdrive to connect...

like WiTS A81-E and a 10 inch Epad. google around, or youtube, it's quite good and responsive.
*
Thanks. I will check it out.

10 inch...I feel its a bit big thou...

Samsung will lunch their 7" tablet call "Samsung Galaxy Tab" this September...hope it oso affortable... drool.gif
*
Yeah, i hope so...as im keeping my fingers crossed for CSL's tablet too.. what i'm looking for will be the tablets with built in 3G for portability on the road.

If Galaxy Tab's price is reasonable, and the unit has built in 3G...i might consider Samsung too..
P/S : I love the Amoled in Samsung. Currently im using Omnia II - the screen is awesome...amoled... drool.gif

Does it come with built in storage capacity ? 2GB ? 4 ? 8 ? As I can't find any info on the internal storage..

Where else...Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with 16 GB built in. Possibility with 3G built in too.

wow this is really not bad for a malaysia brand. 2.1(!!) most of the android tablets out there feature only 1.5 or 1.6. thumbs up csl. btw whats the price for this?
*
Still unknown.

For those who want to buy Android tablets, better wait till end of the year...as many brands will come out with their tablets..such as Notion Ink's Adam, LG, MSI, ASUS (likely early next year), Google, Lenovo's LePad, etc...

I think in CES fair 3-5 DECEMBER at KLCC...some of the tablets will be shown...

No hurry to buy..keep all fingers crossed.

A 600 Mhz chip powering a tablet - i have doubts on its performance. Anyway these Android tablets are a great alternative to the iPads. The iPad is expensive and lacks many basics - no USB, no front camera are its biggest defiencies. These Andoids will definately be cheaper - an interesting model will be Samsung Tab, releasing on 2 Sept. Apparently Malaysia will get it too in Sept .
*
Any idea on the pricing ?

Let's see the pricing between our local CSL vs Samsung. if its not too far off, I would go for Samsung..with its 16 GB built in storage, amoled and 3G ( i think its included ).

Will test out these 2 tablets before deciding..

would rather choose csl over samsung. hope they can make below the 1k mark.
*
CSL = price definately is lower than Samsung. Samsung's price i think is going to be higher due to the specs offered in their tablets.

Still unsure about CSL.

Just waiting for the tablet announcement...and test the unit out myself...first.

Even HTC Desire is having only 512MB ROM isn't it? MicroSD card is pretty compulsory if you wish to store music or videos.

It has built in 3G and GPS, which seems very nice but if it's RM1500, forget it. tongue.gif
*
Yeah..if 1500 for a CSL MI700, i think its blady expensive...I rather wait for Adam tablet.

If below 1000 can consider

Better buy 10.1" netbook. Many selling HP ™ below 1000.
*
true...netbooks nowadays can go below rm1000...

what tablet users want is the portability, light and touch screen function without having to keep open and close the notebook..as the hinge might wear off sooner or later..

touch screen tablet is more durable and lighter to carry around.

their sales method is like the Nexus one.....Register and pay and they will deliver...but closest is to Singapore.....tempting..initially i also thought of getting one..but then i saw the Adam... drool.gif  drool.gif but for both the price is close to RM1500...not inclusive of delivery.. yawn.gif so i might as well wait and get the Adam since the design and hardware is much better.
*
Adam's tablet..have not seen coming out yet. It's 10 inch tablet which I feel it's a bit big..

Still prefer to go for 7 inch tablets. Samsung Galaxy Tab, heard is launching this month...and so is CSL MI700..

7" too small to be called Tablet... At least a 10" screen la.

Besides, a 7" is hard to hold with one hand and then if you dock it, it feel small. A 10" is just hard enough to hold with one hand which require you to dock it and it still look acceptable.
*
10 inch can consider as a netbook liau..

i still think 7 inch is an ideal size..to carry around and put into your bag..( best is to buy a slip on cover for the tablet ).

Those 10" qualified as netbook??? I see most of them had to stick their face to the screen to read the text... pity
*
hehehe...guessed they have to get magnifying glass...

to me, 7 inch tablet is just fine. In case the text are a bit small, can always zoom and enlarge the fonts. It's great to have as companion to reply quick emails, watch videos or read some articles/news on the move. Not really meant for heavy duty stuff...

It will serve as a travelling companion for me..rather then having to carry the heavy notebook..hehe.

archos 110 better. laugh.gif  but i dont like their design that much..

one thing i noticed that CSL is really not that smart...I mean since they signed an agreement with JooJoo to pay for manufacturing costs in exchange for royalty, they might as well bring it and put it under its wings and sell it at a cheaper price..
*
Then, it is confirmed that CSL MI700 is "not" manufactured in Malaysia...they just bring in the OEM and rename to their own brand CSL ?

Hmmm.....i tot its a proud "buatan Malaysia"...but i might be wrong...hehehehe..

I wonder when Malaysia will come out with their OWN tablet and proudly say " Buatan Malaysia " and Malaysia Boleh.. but right now, I don't think so..

Let see what we have here~...

We have a good spec but insane priced Samsung Galaxy Tab; - and maybe have to subscribe to carrier, price is too expensive for a tablet.
CSL Spice MI700 still pending for release and 'might be' twin brother, Olive Pad from India;- Olive is expensive..it ifs true, then CSL will be expensive too.
Archos Android Tablet running Android 2.2 Froyo; - I'm eyeing this unit now.

Bunch of tablets from mainland China running Android 1.6 or lower; - these units = i avoid them....super slow and lots of prob...i heard

What I felt is that we'll still have to wait longer for an affordable tablet with descent spec...
*
Not long...by end year or early next year, there will be more coming out.

Oh well, since u guys said most should be available in year end, just give some patient to wait for the better.

Hope to get one for Christmas or perhaps for New Year. Then again, is the time for CES 2011.
*
CES 2010 will be in December at KLCC. It's 3-5 December, if I'm not wrong.

Hope by then there will be some decent units available so I can check out..
