Hey guys (& gals),

I've been looking for a SSD to replace my boot partition on my old school cheap WD Green for Windows 7 64 bit.

Is OCZ & Corsair not worth it? Right now, I'm thinking of Intel 320 Series 120GB @ RM 599 and yeah, my budget is around this price range.

Will be glad if anyone of you got any opinion on this or feedback.

Thanks. smile.gif

I'm planning to upgrade my DELL D630 notebook with SSD Vertex 3 120GB, I'm currently using Intel X25-M, i can feel the difference compare to conventional 7200 rpm hdd.

My concern is does it have significant effects in terms of speed of using Vertex 3 compare to Intel X25-M in such an old laptop? I don't the SATA for DELL D630 is SATA-2 or SATA-3 or other type, i can't google much info on the port type.

If anyone knows, please advise me. I do not want to over spend on it. Vertex 3 is 50% more expensive than Intel X25-M. icon_question.gif

Going by the age alone (the laptop has a review in 2007), it has only SATA 3.0Gbps and not SATA 6.0Gbps (introduced in 2009).

Please keep in mind that SSD-to-SSD return on investment is much smaller than HDD-to-SSD. Thus if your X25-M is a 120GB SSD or your primary reason for a new SSD is performance, it will not be worth it. If you're using the 80GB edition and need more capacity, then any cheap and decent 120GB SSD will do just fine. Like Intel's 120GB (reliability) or OCZ's Agility 3 120GB (performance).

What about OCZ's Agility 3 120GB?

Here's a performance review: http://www.anandtech.com/print/4421

Unfortunately the Intel 320 120GB isn't benchmarked in that review.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually did read this particular review by Anand before.
However, there's a lot of OCZ bad reviews going on regarding BSODs and reliability issues?
I want to avoid that and go for usability than pure "performance".

I heard that the BSOD issue was fixed, but I don't know much about the matter. If reliability is your primary concern, then the Intel SSD would be a good choice.

Where are you getting that price from?

Very well then. I also saw Intel's SSD roadmap and there isn't anything big going on until Q3'2011.
Therefore, I'm thinking of going for Intel 320 Series now.
It's from Viewnet in Plaza LowYat as listed in their latest price list. smile.gif

I agree. I would rather buy a cheap 120GB SSD, three times the capacity for only twice the price.

Need recommandation on current SSD running on SATA3.

I am looking for reliability rather than performance , because my WD 1TB black just surrender after 1 yaer of using.

Phobia of data loss.
