QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ Sep 8 2010, 11:06 AM)
you expect CS to know technical matters?

If you really want things done perhaps we should gather a proper bug report with screen captures if possible detailing what we tried to do before the bug happened. No more of this infantile "asstro" whingeing and childish name calling. Then we send the report to TallJustin and he may be able to deal with it in a structured manner.

Now it's like shooting with a scatter gun - make holes anywhere but not hitting the target... add the name calling, it's no surprise Astro ignores us.

Anyone who works in tech support or any service position will agree with me. yelling at support only serves to demotivate them.
*
You have a good point. Astro needs to know that there are problems and they will only know if we call/email them and voice our issues.

I personally experienced problems in PVR voince out my concerns and they send in the Technician. They came in twice Free of Charge (changed my PVR once) and Astro told me that the Ext HDD still have problems. They said new Software for Ext HDD coming soon...but not sure how soon lah.

I'm fine with that since they acknowledged the problem and working on it. I'm giving them a benefit of a doubt but if by end of Sep still no software for B.yond with Ext HDD...I'm gonna shout smile.gif

why not? you can watch byond on any TV I think... just that older CRTs you won't see the benefit of HD. On the other hand, SD channels still look great on the older TV

not expecting cs know everything but they should gather customer reports and technical people should do something....rite?

I pretty sure their technician/engineers would want to get the feedback from the CS people. On the other hand for CS, they would want to ketuk kepala the engineers if the box kept failing because customers will haunt CS rather than engineers.

If engineers are not doing their job...I'm pretty sure CS can always flag their complaints to the CEO and telling him that engineers are sitting on their asses and customer are shouting at us.

So yeah...

You can put the Byond box in your hall and use HDMI extender to send the HD signal to your room. At the same time, you can still watch astro on your hall tv via component or composite connection.

Jack,

What exactly is an HDMI extender....how much does it cost? is it like a long HDMI cable from the living room to the bedroom?

lapaq, deitylord,

I got the extender from this source :

HDMI Extender

My comment after the installation can be found on post#52 of the thread.

Somehow I got intermittent color problem (needed to unplug RJ45 and plug back to recover) for the 1st couple of weeks, but it's now ok (wierd). Anyway I am very happy with the setup and my wife is enjoying the US Open tennis HD live on big screen these 2 weeks. thumbup.gif

CRT? hmm. This I can help but a bit tricky. Byond box have 3 output, HDMI, Composite and Component. you can use all 3 simultaneously so this means you can connect the box to 3 TVs at the same time technically.

However, if you tune to HD channels, the HDCP protection will kick in. If you are on HD channels, and the TV with the composite/component cables are switched on but the HDTV with HDMI is not switched on, you will get "Copy Protection Failed error" Msg.

What you need to do is either take out the HDMI cable at the back of B.yond Box or switched on both TV.

To all the doubters out there....

The mini series '10' was shot in HD / edited in HD / and mastered in HD with 5.1 surround sound.

Check it out. It's a good series.
