QUOTE(writesimply @ Sep 7 2010, 04:32 PM)
To make a useful EPG, Astro must demand that their content providers provide useful EPG data. Season, episode and episode synopsis are important data that must be there. That way we can view if the program is new or something we've seen before. The EPG can also be embeded in the recorded program so that the seasons can be browsed through rapidly by PVR users.

What's also rather shameful is that PVR's failures recently. Losing recorded programs randomly should not have happened at all. Considering that the recording function supposedly have been tested before launch (especially the WD external drive issue), this incident should not happen again.

Well Fuad, you've got a point. If you refer to the Threa here there is a guy or an engineer working with Astro here on this thread. LongJustin or sumthing. He said previously that Astro is working with the content provider to provide a vast improvement to the Metadata for each content. Hopefully this is done sooner rather than later.

On the PVR failures...Well I'm with you on this. It should not have happened in teh first place!

If the PVR really has bug error, we as consumers must demand for the refund. Astro should not charge their customer if they already know the PVR has flaw, right??

Why don't you request the RM 10 for Aug prorated for 20 days from Astro then? It about RM7...that would save you a decent meal at a Mamak restaurant... smile.gif

yes sometime, lasted for 1 second, could be cloud interfere with the satellite signal, the less of the time HD channels are rock solid, programs flow are smooth as silk brows.gif

you can check your byond box satellite signal for measat 3A, these transponders are responsible for transmitting HD channels and they should have signal quality more than 200

Signal strength should not affect whether it's laggy or not. But then again I still can't understand what Laggy or non fluid looks like here. Laggy as in playing online games is something I know but never heard of in Astro B.yond.

sorry I should said to check for signal quality, if below par then will be problem, such as below 100, the forward error correction will not operate properly

It is very difficult to put them on stand,The same wld be ffor Beyond PVR we hv to be serious abt it, get together and noww since we have the CFM portal go to the Consumer Forum put your complaint and move it. As far they are concerned I wld say from CS to the engineers all talk complete c... and thier reasoning is Final pls cry.gif dont blame then blame our Courts! brows.gif If a consumer can bring them to court for charging when service NOT available and if the court decides in the consumers favour that wld be the day to claim Justice prevails, and sad to say it wld NEVER happen !Now they are Tutors for the nation UPSR, PMR next SPM , they are TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO powerfull ! drool.gif

Yes this is the no 1 issue for all of us.

My personal experience, the first time they installed my PVR, I didn't know that 140++ signal strength is not optimal. The minimum should at least be 160+. Si I have to endure 2 weeks of lost recordings, unable to continue after pausing and etc. After the installer came over, installed signal booster or sumthing, then only I can have a satisfactory experience.

Now I understand laugh.gif

I had too. It had problems...true enough, no need to debate about it. IT's within your rights to complain and b**** about it.

But I seldom use the recording function then so I'm not THAT attached to it. But the PVR, now that I'm a busy man so to speak. I really value the recording feature.

you expect CS to know technical matters?

If you really want things done perhaps we should gather a proper bug report with screen captures if possible detailing what we tried to do before the bug happened. No more of this infantile "asstro" whingeing and childish name calling. Then we send the report to TallJustin and he may be able to deal with it in a structured manner.

Now it's like shooting with a scatter gun - make holes anywhere but not hitting the target... add the name calling, it's no surprise Astro ignores us.

Anyone who works in tech support or any service position will agree with me. yelling at support only serves to demotivate them.
