would like to hear from existing PVR external hard disk users.
i have read through the thread as much as i can but could not find the answer i wanted:
Q: Using the WD external HDD, can you watch a recorded show while recording a live show. i called astro customer service, they said not possible, and need astro PVR to do this. As far as i am corcerned, isn't it than only need 1 tuner to record the live show, and as the recorded show is already in the HD i don't need a second tuner. Thanks.

thanks lapaq !! that is what i was thinking....tuner is only for live program. r u using external HDD yourself?
after considering (price of WD quite close to Astro PVR), tempted to get PVR.....but the RM 10 per month is the killer. long term it adds up.
Dilemma. especially, astro did put in their website an upcoming feature to record all episodes of a series....so that won't miss an episode.
i am currently using DVD recorder...but the recordings are SD...so defeats the purpose.

i am using external HDD for recording. but recently noticed there are issues with the fast forward function. for recorded programs, from time to time, when i fast forward, i am unable to stop the fast forward. even stopping and watch from the start, i have the same error.
