Lycosa still got problem for key hanging nowadays?
After I search around Lycosa, I feel is expensive for it ( just my feeling )., rather then just use the same price to take other keyboard with more function.

Dealer is bullshit with you if they said can direct Razer/HIS to Ban Leong, simply because he don't want to involve in the hassle. Need go through dealer nowdays. Between HIS already change distributor, check your sticker smile.gif

If that little "sample" pic they have on the web is really the product, it looks like a keyboard. And it sounds ominously like they are going mechanical.

guys when G510 keyboard would arrive here?

as I expected last time .... (looks like they give up their sales of G19) would release the G15 version of G19 but more surprising that it brings back the same features of the G15v1 : 18 macro keys =D !! and have audio plug in some more .....

actually once reach here will be around RM289 / 299.
the one with backlight will be RM90 - 100 more expensive, so somewhere around RM389 / 399.

How is cherry blues good for gaming?
(Only for those who like to mash key or need to press certain keys repeatedly, blue cherries are NOT that suitable for it but still useable. Brown or black cherries should be better)

LOL at the custom switch that Razer claimed.. maybe it's a blue switch with a black/brown/red tactile response... maybe.

Hope this move by Razer gets more people to buy mechanical keyboards and drive the cost of mechanical keyswitches down.

pressing keys repeatedly is still ok.
so far, with just simple tests like continuously hitting space followed by a letter, its slightly more accurate than the 7G at however fast i can go which on a good day can hit over 100wpm.

i guess when it says not really meant for gaming, its mostly due to the key clicks which you can also feel compared to the smoothness of the 7G cherry blacks.
but then it also doesnt really require much difference in force to press the keys between the two kbs.

btw, what custom switch? i dont see a mention of it anywhere.

there is a function key to switch to gaming mode, which basically just disables the windows key.
SS meanwhile just puts the windows key beside the Right Ctrl key away from your WASD hand.

so yea, design wise in terms of the window key, it's probably a tie somewhat.
but the blackwidow may just get back some fans who prefer a rectangular Enter key so that they may also have a longer Backspace key.
the 7G as can be seen has a L-shaped Enter key which makes the Backspace smaller, which some just do not like.

as for the macros on the blackwidow, i dont use macros so wouldnt know what to place in it...
so needless to say, those 5 special macro keys running down the left side irritate me.
anyway, cant do any macros yet as razer hasnt uploaded the drivers tongue.gif

I mean if you need to mash keys repeatedly for the same key, for example A A A A A.. due to the actuation point being slightly higher than the return when u lift your finger off the key, you might miss it because you are waiting for that click cue. (unless you get used to the tactile response of the blue cherry switch and you're able to overcome this problem)

Well, regarding the custom switch statement:

Click here and choose WHAT ARE MECHANICAL KEYBOARDS to read Razer's take on their 'custom' mechanical keyswitches.

PS: Judging from the pictures, I have a very high tendency to believe that Razer is working with iOne to manufacture these keybaords.
Sauce
If Razer's too expensive, maybe this can be the cure, minus the Macro keys

well like razer already says in that site, with mech keys u do not need to bottom it out to activate the letter regardless if its blue or black.
but since there is no 'click' in the blacks etc, most users will bottom the whole key out as they want to be sure the key has activated...i also sometimes tend to do that with my 7G.
the 'click' btw is about halfway to the bottom.
guess thats why cherry blues are better for typing, so for those who need to mash alot of buttons, like RTS guys etc, it may benefit them more.
which i guess explains why it also has macro keys.
so to a FPS guy like me, all of it doesnt really matter tongue.gif

i still dont see a mention of the word 'custom' anywhere.
unless ur talking about them calling the cherry blues their own key which i agree is bs.

You got that right, I think the custom switch was in one of their presentation slides, about how their switch was customised and took over 4 years to develop the correct keyswitch or something.. which was bs to me.

But now mechanical keyboards will be more common already, not a good sign for those who pride over their mechanical keyboards like they are the last geeks standing in this world!

Hmmm, got a plan to buy alienware TactX but since there are bad reviews, I prefer G15 or G110 instead of getting alienware KB.
The other options are blackwidow and G510, for my personal feeling, BW mechanical keyboard got a feel that its hard to type like the preview on youtube. It seem need to press hard depending on the keypad clicking sound. But i donno the actual one, so have to figure it out after it release in Malaysia.
For G510, when is the release date, idk, but the price is similar to Razer BW which is $119.99 for G510. But i like Logitech KB very much.

Hello all, since you all are heated up on mechanical keyboards discussion, I also wanna join in... tongue.gif

I am interested in the steelseries 6Gv2. Does it use the same switches as the 7G? I tried a 7G before and think its quite good...

Yeah, same question. What the different between this 2? But the price is overkilling for 7G

Well for starters, the 6Gv2 is more affordable compared to the 7G although they both use Cherry Black switches. The 6Gv2 is basically a 7G without the wrist rest, 2 USB1.1 ports and the audio jacks.

A mechanical keyboard is a keyboard that uses mechanical switches rather than membrane surface for the interface. And the rest I would have to say "Google it".

G15 should be a membrane keyboard.

Example of mechanical keyboard, Steelseries 7g, 6gv2 or incoming Razer Blackwidow. biggrin.gif

New G110 user report in.
Want you all several question.
At start I can't use it to enter bios. Have to use ps2 keyboard to go in. (MOBO is GA-870A-UD3 Ver2.0)
Then when I go in, I found that all "USB Legacy Function" already enabled,
"USB Storage Function" also enabled. I found out that to allow me to use G110, I had to set "USB Storage Function" to disable. I think the system assume my usb keyboard as usb storage so when I disable "USB Storage Function" it can work and I able to using this keyboard to enter bios.

But later I found that sometime it able to work but sometime it not able to work. When it not able to work, I can't even go in windows 7 64bit, it just stuck at there b4 the "4 color windows ball" appear out. Then finally I decide to plug the g110 into usb 3 port which only function after loading windows 7. If I plug in USB2 port, it sometime may not work.
So any usb keyboard user / g110 user facing this problem?
any solution?

I've looked at the n52te and I personally think the Logitech trumps the Belkin in terms of comfort. And it has a mini joystick (good for Photoshop and other photo editing programs), more G-keys i.e. programmable keys. Gamepanel is interesting but I don't use it much, only the stopwatch function for timing how fast i pump my first units out in StarCraft 2, as it takes your view away from the monitor. Just my opinion anyway.

That N52TE its powered by Razer, so pretty much co-operation between Belkin and Razer in designing it.

They have quite number of peripherals for sometimes now, just that our local shops doesn't import in.

Fyi, Belkin peripherals its lifetime warranty, as i don't recall there's any gaming peripherals has such warranty.

first one is the belkin n50.
belkin also had a 'gaming' mouse back then which failed horribly.

i dont think anyone ever carried the mouse, but the n50 way back then already i see in SG stores for under RM300...maybe its still lying around in the same stores tongue.gif

I got x4 for RM 199

First time i use it, it feels like plastic for me and the button may be smaller for me. But once i get used to it, i love it so much.

I like the the anti ghosting feature and the macro not so much use for me. Once in a while i will play multiplayer game using split screen and this keyboard just perfect for it. No more missing key press.

Well, for the light, i seldom play in dark, so i would turn it off to save electric. But the light was nice, i can adjust the brightness of it.

The media keys is an advantage for the keyboard. I can activate the media player with one key and the bad is it only for windows media player.

The wrist rest is ok for me.

I would give 7 out of 10

Where can i get Mechanical keyboards in Malaysia, to be more specific around SEL or KL would be great! biggrin.gif

Im looking for a cherry MX black keyboard.

Im actually eyeing on the SS 6gv2 but currently it is out of stock in malaysia sad.gif

Anti ghosting feature are really not important for me since i play RTS Max keys i press at once would maybe reach up to 3-4 keys.

N whats the NKOR feature, sorry if i spelt it wrong, I read it some where but i couldnt recall where, it is a feature that Razer BW doesnt have and that is why it is cheaper than SS keyboards if i am not mistaken.

Do I need those feature if im playing a RTS game?

6Gv2 still got stock in some places. If I remember correctly Moderno just got 2 units delivered the other day.

Filco boards need to import in.

You don't really need the NKRO feature if you're into RTS though.

razer blackwidow is not cheaper, the rest are all marked up too much biggrin.gif
and its NKRO, blackwidow is 6-keys max...reason cos it uses USB so can take advantage of having drivers to use macros etc which is what makes it more gamer-centric.
but anyway, the blackwidow is using cherry blues...so right now the SS 6gv2 is your best choice.

Imo its all a bunch of marketing bs...they can also claim it was 3yrs in development...
i tried the prototype blackwidow and i can say it looks more like 3days in development tongue.gif
And from the first released details ppl already guessed it was cherry blues based on the actuation force data released...only later did they officially announce they were blues...
anyway i'll stick to my 7G blacks...
But the blackwidow is still a good buy for the specs etc.

all the following is my personal opinion....

i hate that keyboard... its good for normal use...daily typing etc... but macro wise and wat not damn stupid.. got volume control but no mute button.. another stupid thing..

which is why i said RM80...coz thats the MAX i would pay for that keyboard.. thats how much its worth to me...even that oso i still think twice about buying that keyboard..

even then oso there might be something better in the form of Dell's Multimedia Keyboard for a little more. not a gaming keyboard... but damn good keyboard for daily use.

Added on September 9, 2010, 4:45 pmoh...and personally...id spend abit more money and get the Logitech G110 instead.

my advice - stay away from it tongue.gif
i remember during a pcfair couple yrs ago, microsoft or one of the booths were clearing it for RM50.

how much is it selling in that store? whatever price it is better save up abit more and wait for the razer blackwidow which should be RM299.

Arghhh read so much but still confused, what's good replacement for my reclusa keyboard.

Macros not so important, most important is comfort and easy to type, prefer the keys are spaced out cause I get typo often.

Thinking of

Mirror Lycosa
G15
G110
Sidewinder x6? (don't really like Microsoft though although I'm using partly;p)
SS series?

haha so many ppl talking about reclusa..add me in also
i using microsoft x6..

complaining for x6 the volume control knob sometime will sunddenly no function and need detach the keyboard and plug again

i previously used lycosa..not change to x6 cos of don like lycosa..juz some accident make it cant use d

for kerry
i think u ask from opinion but need give ur expected budget
since u say u not aim for macro then g15 and g110 is abit too complicated keyboard and don think fit ur budget also..

then for ss 7g compare to reclusa..100% won fit budget as well

i think u can consider to forget about gaming keyboard..i think u shud check out about microsoft keyboard..usual wireless desktop set mayb
with ergonomic design and some multimedia and internet surfing useful key

hope help u abit

Added on September 12, 2010, 1:36 ampaiseh juz saw kerry post in gaming mouse thread
don think g15 and g110 not fit ur budget but 7g still la

since u concern so much on typing
then i think u need check out the keyboard 1 by 1 by feel the key touch and tightness

bcos every body preference difren
some 1 prefer tight key with heavy touch some like soft and slim key

just coz the dood said macros aint important doesnt mean must remove the G15 and G110 from the list...doesnt mean cannot consider.

and it aint complicated... just plug and play...dont wanna use macros then dont use the macros... simple as that...

the G15 is still a VERY good keyboard for typing which suits his criteria for spaced keys and comfort... never tried the G110 but i assume its as good as the G15...

but if willing to get non-gaming keyboard...the Dell Multimedia keyboard is one of the best keyboards ive ever used for typing....can search for it in bulk orders section...allngap selling it.

there are two types of blackwidow, standard and ultimate edition, standard has no backlight, ultimate has backlit

standard is 79 usd, same price as imperator i think so shouldnt bee far from 200-300 hopefully.

i wonder where u all get those prices from, cos that doesnt look like what ban leong prices are...which means its a parallel import set...which may mean a nice expensive rma process if anything happens.

Eager to change my keyboard today don't think can wait til BW arrives plus I'm used to my current backlighting so I'm not sure whether I can live without one!

My budget is below 300 so definitely I'm thinking of g15, g110 or perhaps lycosa mirror, just that I'm too indecisive.

About trying all the keyboards one by one I don't think its possible because alot of shops do not have a demo set so I doubt they'll open one for you to try!

all the following is my personal opinion....

i hate that keyboard... its good for normal use...daily typing etc... but macro wise and wat not damn stupid.. got volume control but no mute button.. another stupid thing..

which is why i said RM80...coz thats the MAX i would pay for that keyboard.. thats how much its worth to me...even that oso i still think twice about buying that keyboard..

even then oso there might be something better in the form of Dell's Multimedia Keyboard for a little more. not a gaming keyboard... but damn good keyboard for daily use.

Added on September 9, 2010, 4:45 pmoh...and personally...id spend abit more money and get the Logitech G110 instead.

Hurm.. Mechanical KB is tempting but the price is not. tongue.gif

Anyway, I don't really like lycosa and prefer G110 and I think it's worth to spend if the KB priced at RM200. smile.gif Just my 2 cents.

What about the Belkin N52TE? Anybody tried it before? I'm planning on buying it. Is it really comfortable. I do understand that I probably need some time to actually get use to it but will it be really that hard to get use to?

Dell Multimedia keyboard thumbup.gif the keys is firm and solid, unlike those Microsoft keyboards that feel "plastic".
Usually if some kiddies come to my house, I will switch to that kb to avoid them destroying my G15 smile.gif
Up to now I haven't switch back to my G15, the feeling is just godly.

If I'm not mistaken, teh Dell Multimedia kb is based on one of Logitech's kb.

All those reviews I read before stated that is takes time to get used to n52te.

You can take a look at other options like G13 or Ideazon Fang.

think spam more on mouse click than keyboard since mouse basically using dat 2 key..but keyboard ur spam divide into so many key..lol

understanded dat the rubber will be scratched and wipe off cos of frequent usage
but any way i think can take care of it as good as posible to try to prolong it lifespan
like make ur hand dry
clean hand 1st if swt
juz watever to maintain it

Actually I don't really mind the glossy one though in fact I tried the non-mirror and found that the rubberish might end up getting sticky in the future just like my copperhead. *shrugs*

Also I went to thundermatch on saturday and its still closed for RAYA so I didn't get to test the keyboard, but I went to buy the imperator at ALLIT anyways. Today I went to digital mall and get myself the lycosa mirror at czone.

With my charcarias and mantis control I think I'm a happy camper ;p

instead of shud get some efficiency way to clear rubber surface
this is wat i think la..if u let me choose either lycosa rubber or mirror i definitely choose rubber

Lesson of the season:

"If you want to try gaming gears, go there early on the first day."

That's what I always do for PC Fair.

I wonder how clicky is the BW's cherry blues.

To prevent me from wiping my glossy keyboard I've bought the RM10 keyboard protector, its rubberish and easy to type.

Today manage to have a feel of the G15 & Lycosa though, the people working there is friendly enough to allow me to feel and compare both keyboard. IMO I feel that the G15 and G110 is a tad plastic everytime I type. Just not worth the 200~ish. When tried on the lycosa mirror, all I got to say is wauu....I'm in love

Which is why I never got any rubber keyed keyboards. Plastic is good enough. whistling.gif

I don't think Razer will price dump on day 3. Maybe a small discount only.

i think u owes prefer looser and slim key which with little touch can type..
i tot for g15 and g110 need deeper pressing (not sure juz i think so) this is 1 reason i prefer lycosa also eventhough not tat macro-ish and without the lcd display

No problems without it here.

Still no time to do it as of yet though. But I would appreciate it if you send me the dimensions for the 7G's wristrest.

PS, I got my 6Gv2 at RM329.

No la... even my inside job discount is not so much.

I bought one of the 5 first units from The Hub which was selling at that introductory price. In fact, I got the last unit of the 5. After that the 6Gv2 price as we know it went up to RM399.

I'm planning on getting a brand new Logi G110, any tips for the lowest price for this KB.

Anyway, is it a good KB for gaming? Gonna use it for COD and Battlefield, FPS games to be exact. Any tips for a better KB with cheaper price tag. tongue.gif

Thanks~

my personal think g110 is more useful than g15..cos i don think can use the lcd display for any of my game..about the light is dim i not really sure..previously use g13 for lot fps game..but sold it away becos i only use it for fps game as well..there are more firmware issue in logitech than other..lot time that cant detect the profile and not function when window sleep and wake up..dats 1 reason i nvr choose logitech product

think will try blackwindow..but need wait it price drop abit first
no longer interested with kb without backlit..but bw ulti is too exp
so need wait

prefer mechanical kb with heavy touch than membrane..also their quality
usually mecha lifespan is about 20mil keystroke..don think can finish 20mil b4 i quit gaming ^^

Flexing is a problem that can usually happens with laptop keyboards. Put too much pressure on it and it tends to sink.

u want a keyboard that wont bend?
everglide dktboard - whole top part is made of aluminium.
when i first used it i realised my table isnt perfectly flat, so i had to put some felt under the keyboard to balance it.
my 7G i can just put it on my table no problem, which means it still bends a little tongue.gif

It was meant to look classy, I love those Mecha KB design. 7G is very classy, BW is something more to futuristic (in terms of font) but still classy.

Anyway, just tested a fellow LYN member's G110. My POV is, the keys are small compared to any of my previous Logi KBs. It's a bit hard to press but it's comfortable. I like it to be honest. I didn't spend much time testing it's macro but the media keys and the gaming mode keys together with the backlit switching keys are very effective. The scroll is a bit annoying because for every scroll the volume didn't change a lot.

All in all, it's a good KB for it's price.

i still feel 7g is grand juz not really willing to change to kb without back
i quite often type in dark since owes off the light in my room

got 1 quest
is 6gv2 come with any wrist rest ah??
i think if got also difren with 7g and is smaller 1 right?

6Gv2 has no wrist rest at all. Otherwise it's a carbon copy of the 7G's chassis.

Well, mechanical keyboards last longer as many would say but at the cost of an attractive look. At the end of the day, it is down to each individual's personal preference. smile.gif

Although it is mostly down to individual preference, some people can be easily influenced by what others say and also reviews (although usually accurate, certain comments might not be applicable to certain users).

dats not the issue
the kb come with the converter as well

then are u think this problem probably occur??
and my question is whether is it possible to replace the ps2 plug head if it really got problem??

bcos if it can b replace and u know where can repair then i rather use ps2 port
since in ps2 port it can work in the linux dos all that and also better for anti ghosting right

i dont see why u want to plug in and out ur kb all the time...and i never had a ps2 plug on the kb get damaged before.
that one is nothing to worry about.

and who said linux must only use ps2 kb? can also use usb kb.
and i think u should go google what anti-ghosting is.

A lot of decent mice come with thumb rests.

The only way I seen people damage the PS/2 jack is forcibly sticking it into the port at a wrong angle.

doubt so, thats like abusing the product, your self, not the internals problem, + u tested it out at the shop already,

so means , everything is working already.

if go cc use the ps2 to usb converter that they give lo, home use ps2.

they dont cover warranty when u abuse it, just the technical issue mostly.

hola! i'm currently using OCZ Alchemy Elixir, but somehow, the skin of WASD buttons seems to be peeling off, other than that, the KB is in good working condition. though i have some problem assigning the macro keys.

anyway, any feedback on the Logitech G110? icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey guys I'm looking for a budget gaming keyboard under RM 100 which performs well for its price.
Previously this place was held by the OCZ alchemy series elixir 1 but it seems to not be stocked anymore.

Having the name gaming keyboard is not required as it usually justifies a raise in price.
Fellow member phantomesh recommended me to try the gigabyte K6800 sold at rm49 and I went to see it. Seems well placed with large spaced keys(my fingers are quite fat/big ><) but it will be a oil magnet because of its glossy keys.
Another choice i found is the arctosa but that is quite a bit above the budget.

Anyone could recommend me another kb for my use? RTS/RPG gamer here.
Thanks

g510 looks so professional seem at least 18 extra keys at left hand side LOL
but for myself i don think i really using all those macro function

for the price at g510 i rather use the money for simple mechanical keyboard which more to performance and quality

personally don like g700 shape (for me it is ugly compare to all other gaming mouse)

While mechanical keyboards practically is better quality but design will be sacrificed most of the time, I guess Logitech wants to capture those who wants to stand out from the rest with attention grabbing designs. laugh.gif
