I turned on AiDisk feature and tried to copy out files via ftp to my laptop but it takes about 10 mins for 1gb file.
Is that normal?
Also, im using a 16gb thumb drive but i checked the disk status it only has about 9gb free space, in other words about 6gb taken up by the system?

Hi WaCKy,

May I know what router model are you using? Slow transfer rate can be effected by many factor such as the using of USB2.0 or USB3.0, the WiFi transfer rate between your PC/laptop and the router.

You can try updating the firmware to the latest to have a try too.

Thank you

Oh I see..so when I wan go gaming i just connect to the 5.0Ghz then. How far is the coverage? I put the router in living room and I am sitting in living room to game as well.

Hi Duckies,

If within the same room then you should be able to detect 5GHz with good signal.

Thank you

My RT-N14UHP is really warm. (warmer than the BTU and warmer than TPLink 1043nd). Is this normal and will it spoil due to heat?

Hi Quanta,

Normally router are design to open 24/7 and when the CPU usage is 100% it can go up until 90°C.

Hi ASUSmy,

Does a better router secure a better Wi-Fi channel or something? Or perhaps less frequency interference by other Wi-Fi users?

I'm living in a condo which is crowded with other users' Wi-Fi connections, my wireless is constantly being interfered.

In this case, which ASUS router do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I am on Unifi 50Mbps and recently replaced the TM router with Asus RT N66U. The first 2 months everything was perfect until this week when the wifi connection started to drop, or sometimes even get disconnected. However, the LAN connection was not affected at all.

On speedtest, normally I can get around 30-40 mbps on wifi connection. but when the connection drop, I will get around 5mbps and below. I need to restart to router to get the connection back to normal. This will not last long, it will drop back after 1 or 2 days.

Attached is the current setting for the wifi, for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Please advise, thank you.

Hi tusb,

Can you try updating the firmware to latest and do a factory reset on the router.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN66U/HelpDesk_Download/

If the LAN don't have any problem, there might be something is interfere with the WiFi.

Try change other channel. And is other wireless device also having low Speedtest result? Do try change to other server is you are using speestest.net to test the Internet speed.

Thank you
