Hi guys,

I am on Unifi 50Mbps and recently replaced the TM router with Asus RT N66U. The first 2 months everything was perfect until this week when the wifi connection started to drop, or sometimes even get disconnected. However, the LAN connection was not affected at all.

On speedtest, normally I can get around 30-40 mbps on wifi connection. but when the connection drop, I will get around 5mbps and below. I need to restart to router to get the connection back to normal. This will not last long, it will drop back after 1 or 2 days.

Attached is the current setting for the wifi, for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Please advise, thank you.

Hi tusb,

Can you try updating the firmware to latest and do a factory reset on the router.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN66U/HelpDesk_Download/

If the LAN don't have any problem, there might be something is interfere with the WiFi.

Try change other channel. And is other wireless device also having low Speedtest result? Do try change to other server is you are using speestest.net to test the Internet speed.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

I ran a check, it said The router's current firmware is the latest version (3.0.0.4.376_3861-g11c21b3), though in the website I can see probably it already has a newer one (3.0.0.4.378.9235). Should I proceed?

Mine is using 2.4Ghz. There are complaints from the other device as well (5Ghz). On changing channel, do you mean the control channel?

Hi tusb,

Do proceed with the update and yes you can change it at control channel.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

I already updated the firmware and change the control channel. But the problem is still there on the wifi. FYI, after factory reset, I restore the settings using the saved router settings, and only change the control channel.

And how about the channel bandwidth? Do I need to change anything? Coz I read somewhere, for 2.4ghz we should change it to 20mhz and for 5ghz change to 40mhz. I have not change it yet.

Please advise, thank you.
