QUOTE(peter32 @ Mar 10 2013, 11:16 AM) I guess Just purchased one RTN16 would do most of the trick. If you have a big house, then just add one cheap extender will do in each floor. Got myself a RT16N n was way better than my TP LInk 1043nd on unifi, with iptv on n playing on line gaming at the same time without any hitch. |

So far I have used a few Asus models. The first one being the RT13U, which was having a bit of the connecting issue. Now that unit has been reduced to act as an AP right now, while I am still running RT15 and RT12 at various places. I noticed that Asus has the least problem running various router activities eg. port forwarding etc.. where I hve some problem for TP-Link. Maybe it was my fault, I am not sure. No matter how good it is, after about 1.5-2 years, it will show its wear and tear. So really I think a basic unit will do the trick, and subject to renewal after 2 years. Just my two cents. |

Currently I'm using DIR615, got it when I subscribed to Unifi when it launched about 2-3 years ago. I think it's starting to wear out coz I can't surf and play online game when I torrent, along with PPS with another PC, obviously it can't handle heavy duty and many connections at once.
So I'm hunting for new router, and Asus routers look good, need you guys for input. Here're the things that I need for the router that I'm going to get. 1. Can handle heavy duty internet activities, can handle torrent, d/l, PPS, online gaming at the same time with 2-3 PCs with no lag whatsoever, flawless connection. 2. Wireless signal strength must be stronger than DIR615. 3. No need to reboot router after certain period of time. One thing I hate about DIR615 is that I need to manually reboot the router after using 2-3 days, or else it'll perform poorly, can't even load the admin page. So any good Asus router recommend? |

You can try on the RT-N66U, RT-N65U To handle torrent download, PPS and online gaming without lag is not possible unless you set the bandwidth priority for each for each of them or you have a very good Internet speed. For ASUS we have what it called Traffic Manager. It allow you to set the priority of each connection type. It has better wifi signal compare to normal router. Thank you |

QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Mar 18 2013, 09:58 AM) Hi HiT-AbLe, Both RT-N66U and RT-N65U have dual band, is this feature really important if I want to have good or almost lag free performance under heavy duty? RT-N16 is a bit cheaper but without dual band feature, but it can support up to 300,000 sessions for P2P download with super speed, is it good enough for my case? You can try on the RT-N66U, RT-N65U To handle torrent download, PPS and online gaming without lag is not possible unless you set the bandwidth priority for each for each of them or you have a very good Internet speed. If you don't have control on the bandwidth, programs like the PPS will most likely occupy all the Internet connection. RT-N16 will have fixed predefined QoS. But you can still select the preferred QoS. Thank you |

Hi HiT-AbLe,Just check with the RD it seen like after you updated the firmware on the RT-N16 to the latest you can define the priority by your self :-). Below is the interface of how the QoS are look like. http://event.asus.com/2012/nw/dummy_ui/en/QoS_EZQoS.html Thank you |

Hi HiT-AbLe,I cannot promise you on that because you should note that there are many possible reasons for a slow connection, so you shouldn't immediately assume the router has a problem (although it's a place to start). Oftentimes, your router can just get bogged down by too much traffic coming through. This is especially common with things like BitTorrent and Usenet, which achieve high download speeds by making multiple connections at one time. If you make too many, your router will stop working and need a reboot. Thank you |

Dual Band is future proof, like Iphone 5If you have the budget, go for dual band as not many devices is hogging this "premium" bandwidth now. You wont get congested by others so easily for sure. |

I just upgraded my RT-N56U to the RT-N66U. For some reason, port forwarding doesn't work. I have an AXIS camera which I access from the WAN. On my previous router, port 80 was forwarded to the camera without any problems, but trying to access the camera from the WAN fails with the new router. Port forwarding is done the same way. I'm using the ASUS dynamic DNS service with the same name (with the old router). Anyone had problems port forwarding with the RT-N66U? The hardware revision is B1, firmware is the latest 3.0.0.5.354.
