How's surfing on the iphone via digi like with 784kbps compared to Maxis 3.6mbps? is it a dealbreaker?

Areas i frequently visit are Shah Alam, PJ, KL, Bandar Utama. How is the service like there?

is 784kbps enough for skype calls... how bout video calls (via Fring or Facetime in future)?

Need your input as I'm still contemplating on porting to Digi from Maxis. Need to be sure what I'm getting into and need your help to do so.

good luck getting 3.6mbps smile.gif that's just the 'rated' figure, like how a 2mbps streamyx line doesnt actually get you 2mbps

i've used both maxis broadband and digi broadband before..

maxis line is faster than digi but in terms of latency digi is better

so when using skype, digi quality would be better. maxis will be laggy or drop calls often

in terms of coverage the area u specified should hav sufficient 3g coverage for both operators but digi has some of these "blind spots" where connection suddenly drop to Edge

happen alot of time when i am making skype calls and suddenly disconnected, look at my phone and it is at Edge

Just wait for iPhone 4 launch , then you're able to take a look at the price. I am quite sure that the prices would reduce if the rumours are true !

seriously, with that kind of pricing for iphone 4

i wonder whose gonna buy 3gs 8gb!

just rm100 difference with iphone 4 16gb! (for iValue 1)

but u get the latest iphone, double free data, double free sms, double free mms

too bad the free sms & mms is still applicable for maxis to maxis only doh.gif

Waiting can be excruciating painful, especially for a person who desired to have an iPhone. Be it 3G, 3G[s] or the latest iPhone 4. Some people can afford to be early adopters. Some are plain laggards in some sense.

@Joey Christensen,
Just cause people purchase it early doesn't mean they're rich (ie: can afford it) ; maybe they've saved for several months oredi?

ok, lets compare

i'm comparing the iValue 1

user posted image

ignore the iphone 4 32gb version

& ignore the 24 months contract period

just compare iphone 3gs 8gb with iphone 4 16gb on 12 months contract period

same monthly fee for both iphones

just add rm100 compared to 3gs 8gb, u'll get lotsa benefits

latest iphone, double phone capacity, double free data, double free sms & mms

wouldn't u agree so?

exacta, just save up another rm100

seriously, maxis should change their 3gs 8gb plan to be more attractive

QUOTE(ReVolVolution @ Sep 20 2010, 03:28 PM)
It's on sale this coming Sunday, 26th Sept but for a few selected locations - TTDI, KLCC etc.

27th will be nationwide..

Not bad..

You do have a point there. However, early adopters do have their own avenue they very much sought after. I don't blame market laggards too since they have a bite on the market apple pie. Oh ya, which makes me come to think, why is it my nephew has a Blackberry when she's just, ermmm...in Standard 3? I got my first mobile when I was 21 years old. Sigh...

I'm checking in for iPhone 4 in October or November 2010. I'm still all ears for other brands as well since we are at the forth quarter of fiscal year 2010. To those who have waited, the time is now or never. Maybe Maxis or DiGi will have the honour first evenhandedly, perhaps? Nonetheless, either party will bring it.

Regards, Joey

@ljmljm
no, you cannot. porting takes up to 24 hours. you can only collect your iPhone after you've successfully ported to Maxis.

@bizness
the deposit is refunded when you disconnect your Maxis service. Remember, its only for non-Malaysian customers.
