@tinkerbel
that's strange... you can't get iValue plan unless you buy the iPhone from Maxis... the iData plan is for people who buy iPhone elsewhere.

I'll say that the vertical integration on iPhone is the best. you only give your credit card number to Apple, no one else. then every time you buy something, it'll bug you for password again.
over 250 thousand apps... 'nuff said. so many different speakers + casings... so many different integrated opportunities with 3rd parties... its amazing! |

@poex,
you buy iPhone and don't ask anything about how it works? alamak... the staff who sell to you also dum-dum, never explain that its an INTERNET phone, it will try to stay online as far as possible. call Maxis hotline, get a data plan. or make sure to keep the cellular data off. cos data charges without a plan is 1kb = 1sen. very very expensive. MANY MANY Malaysians face this before, but the carriers prefer not to explain to customers and our law protects the carrier. I repeat, its an INTERNET phone, like buying a sports car, don't tell me you only bought it to show off, cos the costs are high. if not OK with the data charges, keep the cellular data switch off or give it up. |

I got a data plan cos I wanna use my iPhone when I'm in mamak, my dad's place (no wifi), in the car... and all the other places I go to.
if you don't plan to use the internet services outside your home, then MAKE SURE the cellular data switch is off, and just use wifi. personally, i think that's a waste of the iPhone, but that's my opinion. YMMV. |

I like Celcom, good coverage (phone calls) and adequate data bandwidth... only they don't bother with iPhone, so I'll take my business elsewhere.

Apple is only concerned about the customer, what Apple wants is an identical experience no matter who is operating the shop.
that's why the price is controlled, cos it doesn't make sense that the same product, sold by the same company has different pricing all over the place. Imagine if iPod price is more expensive in Bukit Tunku, cheaper in Bangsar n cheaper in Low Yat and even cheaper in Cheras. that's what is happening with Nokia & Sony Ericsson n Motorola. its stupid to pay a different price just because of location. so Apple does control the retail price. If the Mac / iPod dealers are giving discounts... that's their stupidity... eventually Apple will clamp down on them too... for iPhone 3G [S], the retail price was RM2490. Maxis was and still is trying to get more sales by selling 'cheaper' with a 1 year contract / 2 year contract. that's allowed... that's also why Digi can compete by offering lower price plans or more data or whatever they feel like offering, but they cannot sell the iPhone at retail for less than RM2490 without a plan ... that part is NOT negotiable |

why do you guys assume other countries supply is based on ours? the reason why Maxis n Digi are struggling is that Apple expects them to sell x amount, based on pre-order + booking. that's why we need to show interest via their websites.
if Digi can show Apple Asia "we have 10 K people registered" ... then they'll keep at least 10K units for Digi. but it will probably be a time-based thing, maybe 10K for the first 1 month, then if Digi cannot finish them, Apple will take them back or something like this ... at least the telco have a chance to do some sales. think outside the box people... Apple is very very good at managing hype, supply, logistics AND demand |

call your friends in Maxis and get them to book one.
you see, Maxis had 2 stage pre-order last year. many many dum-dum tried to skip the system... and got the phone late. |

alamak... that is old news. Steve already said wave 4 is September. What we want to know is, are we in Wave 3, August, or Wave 4, September.
typical Maxis / Digi thinking... since they already are here, they don't need to bring it out quickly... cos whatever it is, we still have to buy from them. so they can launch in December also... Malaysians still have to buy from them |

no, you cannot. porting takes up to 24 hours. you can only collect your iPhone after you've successfully ported to Maxis. @bizness the deposit is refunded when you disconnect your Maxis service. Remember, its only for non-Malaysian customers. |

@myc2d
first, maxis collection agent will call n threaten u. then they will probably send u court order. if you ignore the court order, you cannot apply anymore telco-related services / products. if you still ignore the court order, for large amount, you may get a court summons, n u can explain to the judge why you don't want to pay the Maxis bill. @louisyo correct. please make sure its your account (principal) and bring your MyKad. |
