I see. Thanks for the information.

How can user use the external IP and why he/she might want to do so?

isn't this answered many times alrdy?
capping at 128kbps when u reach 5GB threshold. However some users might not be cap on the dot when reach 5GB, maybe some extra allowance is there..

I don't think you can do that.

Yes, there is coverage and speed is quite decent. Around 1.5 - 1.9 Mbps.

Confirmed that U is now capping to 128 kbit? :-/ Crap. At least it's cheaper than Celcom. Is the mobile phone UB68 plan identical to the other one? Somehow I don't see the rates for phone calls and SMS, and do they work (at the same rates) outside of the U network? I'm moving to right outside the U coverage according to their map, but I'm now further away and the Huawei modem I've borrowed can see U, my phone can't but can see M1 (would be even better...), my crappy ZTE modem can't see anything but Maxis and Celcom... sad.gif ).

ZTE modem cannot see the U mobile network?

Have you waited it to change from the celcom network to U mobile network?

I used mwconn to display all available networks. The ZTE one basically sees a few Celcom and Maxis networks IIRC, the Huawei can also see U mobile, SingTel and another Singaporean one. My phone doesn't see U mobile but sees M1 in addition to the other Singaporean ones. Seems as if the ZTE modem is pretty awful... no wonder they sold it for 10 € with 10 € cashback...

Very bad signal reception strength.

-103dB is close to disconnect.Once it reaches 107dBm you're in useless state.

Same situation as mine here used to get 5 bars now since they took down their illegal station, now signal drops to unusable rate.

I think E1550, the ZTE is sold through Vodafone.

Been at the new condo today, here's the results:

Huawei:
MWconn 5.7
Network Analysis
2011-01-15 13:46:48'38

UMTS 36% [50219] MY CELCOM
UMTS 30% [52503] SGP-M1-3GSM
UMTS 30% [50212] MY MAXIS (forbidden)
UMTS ??% [50218] U Mobile
UMTS ??% [50216] DiGi (forbidden)
UMTS ??% [52505] STARHUB
GPRS 70% [50219] MY CELCOM
GPRS 70% [50216] DiGi (forbidden)
GPRS 66% [50212] MY MAXIS (forbidden)

Same spot, ZTE:
MWconn 5.7
Network Analysis
2011-01-15 13:57:02'20

UMTS 53% [50219] Celcom Malaysia
UMTS 46% [50219] Celcom Malaysia
UMTS ??% [50212] Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd (forbidden)
UMTS ??% [50218] 50218
GPRS 66% [50219] Celcom Malaysia
GPRS 66% [50219] Celcom Malaysia

Both with the Celcom SIM inside, the modem half way hanging out of the window...

Why is the signal strength ?? with U Mobile? My phone says SIM card doesn't support U Mobile... different frequencies or what's the problem? Or do they just not allow roaming?

Are you referring to using a U Mobile SIM with your phone or Celcom SIM card?
If you using U Mobile postpaid SIM card, it required 3G phone, prepaid SIM can be use with 2G/3G phone

Like digilife say, 50218 is U mobile. U mobile does not allow data roaming on the celcom network.

Check with the SC if your Sim card still cannot be used in the mobile phones.
