Hi, I just got this UMobile ZTE modem, UB68 plan last few days. Looking to others' speed, I'm so jealous, I didn't got that fast.

1. I stay at Shah Alam, Seks 26, the max speed I got just only 1.64 Mbps, as below. Is this normal?

2. The green/yellow light on the modem, keep on flashing whenever I'm online, is this normal? I though this light should be on all the time.

3. I'm using desktop, tried to connect this modem through usb extension, the green/yellow light is on but I can't get the internet connection. But it would be no problem if I plug the modem behind the case, to the usb port directly. Anyone know why?

Thanks for the help, I really want to understand what is happening. sad.gif

They don't, I went to their shop at sunway pyramid and they told me no. the only way to test coverage is by getting their prepaid pack, which I think is fair enuf.
yes, plug in usb modem to the router. mine is e1762 I got from maxis

my speedtest last nite was good..

Thank you! I never knew the existence of 3G routers until 2 days ago  blush.gif
Before all I knew was MiFi (like UM's), but unfortunately they cost too much for me. So when i heard of 3G routers i went straight to get it because i've been wanting something like it for a long time and it's affordable. Very happy with it.

u really leave it on all the time? i was wondering about that, scared if my router will get over heated. now i feel much better smile.gif

what scare. if you use the router give you 2 years service consider very worth the money. 90/730 is about 0.12 cent a day

Added on December 31, 2010, 9:59 pmwow promotion extended to 28 feb 2011

if i subscript mi-fi at 7.2Mbps will i get better speed?
i may cancel this plan and go for mifi february, b4 they end the promo

this is Usb68

or just wait (but no one can tell) the 42mbps one...

From my usage experience, usb modem reception is better than the Huawei E5 Mifi device. At least when compared using the Huawei E1550/E1762.
Won't see the difference because uMobile is still using 3.6mbps HSDPA everywhere except BTS.
2mbps+ is the max you can go and that is if you can get full bars or 4 all the time.

Anything weaker than that don't bother upgrading.

1. i think the speed is kinda normal. cuz, wireless broadband is all about coverage area n the number of simultaneous users right? so even if the area is good, maybe theres just a lot of other users. i mean, it is shah alam instead of kelantan or what. right? im using UM in pjs 7, near taylors lakeside. heres my speed.

user posted image

this speed at 1.30pm

i guess its pretty much the same

but i have to say, UM so far is very good. speed maybe not the best but its acceptable. can still download and play games.

almost the same as my 1Mb streamyx at home

thumbup.gif

2. if can online does the lights matter tongue.gif

3. this one im not sure. cuz my agent told me to do like that, put the modem near window or what using extension to get better speed. he do like that working no problem. have u tried in on a laptop? maybe its the extension
