720p yes, 1080p no. i tried both. when try to opening 1080p it just pop up error saying that video is not supported. also, i think it's very hard to get a 1080p movie under 4GB (unless the movie is very very short) which is the max limit (FAT32 limitation) u can transfer at any one time to your internal sd. I'm just lucky happen to have a movie at 3.9gb. lol.
*
So happen to have those 1080p demo videos from Sony and Samsung which come in under 4GB because they are split into multiple files and they work just fine. These were converted into MP4 format from MKV. But yeah generally due to the file size restriction of FAT32 we be watching mostly 720p vids anyways although there are a fair bit of 720p that reach 7GB and above due to extra audio etc etc within the file.

For those bought their SGS from ikano roadshow, how long is your warranty period?

The roadshow guy told me now only 12mths warranty, no more 12+6 months…. Is that true? Do i still need to registered online, as they have taken my warranty card and promise to send for me.

I bought it there with free speaker.

Just got my casing today from Zenus. Got the Orange + Black combo.

http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo...er=zenus+galaxy

I'm very happy with the purchase and relieved at the same time now that my phone has a proper case.

Good points:
+ The quality is simply very good.
+ Everything fits perfectly and no loose ends. The phone is firmly held at its place.
+ Feels solid in my hands.
+ Does not add any considerable weight although everything now is slightly thicker. But I wouldn't mind for the extra protection it provides.
+ Material is top-grade. Even has the leather smell.
+ Does not intrude in anyway when unfold. You may just leave the front cover hanging or fold it all the way back.
+ Classy looks.
+ Front screen is protected by the cover which has soft material inside. An extra plus for me over the silicon case with the screen exposed.

Minor complaints:
- The seller I purchased from does not include screen protector and lanyard. I've read that some people got these when purchased from other sellers.
- There's some areas which are still exposed but not much. You can see the exposed areas through the pics from the link above.

Overall a good buy even though a tad expensive compared with other casing slowly coming out in the market but you get a quality case. If the seller had included the SP and the lanyard, then it would be quite a deal.

Hope this little feedback will help someone in making their decisions.

Fancy widget is taken off market, because is copy right by HTC, if you want it, google it =D
If you want to use ADB, first you have to setup the environment, go download the SDK. then run window's CMD, type there.

Thanks buddy.

Anyone tried installing the custom kernel mount to external sd to fix the lag issue using JG5 ROM? Or is there a need to do it?

I will be trying that once I get an SD card.

Quadrant scores posted by users who have done the fix seems to show improvement. I believe someone from this forum has done the fix. Try searching the first Galaxy S thread.

I called Maxis to enquire about any further roadshows, but they said no more for West Coast, only left East Coast, Sabah & Sarawak only. But one guy told me that now their current promotion is discount on Android casing for the phone, but he doesn't seem to know the details. Can anyone shed some light?

I think Samsung will start selling in a few months, because I got Samsung's newsletter for the Samsung Galaxy S Life competition, have to make a video, 3 SGS to be won. In the brochure, the RRP is also RM2599, so get the phone from Maxis + data plan still cheaper than buying from Samsung/other sellers + data plan, unless one doesn't want the data plan, of course.

Hello,

Sorry to ask again. I read all the rooting guide but still cannot understand on some point. Hope you guys can clarify.

I plan to root my phone and without delete any program that I install previous.
So I choose method 1. (As Casper1 said he rooted with this method and all his program still maintain)

Method 1:
If you have adb and you know how to use it!

1. Download: update.zip
2. Put update.zip to SD card
3. Enter Code:
adb reboot recovery

4. In Recovery menu select 'apply sdcard:update.zip' (use vol_down + home)
Phone will reboot
and you have
1. su+Superuser
2. busybox (/system/xbin/busybox)

So my question is:-
a) what is adb mentioned at above.
b) where can I download updated.zip file?

Sorry for my noob question.

Any smartphone without data plan nowadays are pretty much useless imo, you cant do anything with it. Just a waste, might as well use nokia 1200 laugh.gif
Question, if you choose extra RM50 for data plan, and get it at RM900 cheaper than RRP, isn't it still worth it? After 1 year of using, u only pay extra 12x50=RM600 for the data plan, and the overall price of the phione is still cheaper than RRP.

update.zip located at here:
http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su...07-2010-a-1355/

i think u can use other method other than adb(optional) like volume up + home + power button..
then choose update.zip in the list and it will begin root ur device

I thought the built in Think Free office can read PDF file? And it's very fast too, better than official Adobe Reader apps.

Q
That is why I ported to Maxis and bought the 3gb data plan, it's worth it compared to buying outside, even if you look at the ap sets...
