To tell you the truth JG5 is quite fast enough, and i never tried it bare to be honest. The maker of the rom did a few small changes optimize wise that i don't think you can value any real world differences. The only thing i like about it, is the theme and the continuity of the theme. And the font, i like the font a lot, it seems smooth and allows me better readebility.

Not sure why you getting force close, are you sure you installed JG5? Install it then check your firmware by *#1234#

Then reboot once if all is well, reboot to recovery then apply update zip. Then reboot again.
Login with your gmail and sync your contacts and all then reboot again.
Then apply your sms backup and call log and reboot again.
Lastly apply all your program backup.

Remember now that titanium backup has a update.zip generator allowing you to batch install in the free version too.

Reboot and enjoy.

1) Anyone with JG5 can know why some (paid) apps don't show up in Market? For example "cachemate", my market only shows me the free version, but in fact I've already paid for it with HTC Magic and now it doesn't show up in JG5 Market

2) Might be a n00b question: just how can I type " " (space) when searching through contact name with the DIALER? (not in the contacts). This is a deal breaker if no spaces allowed in dialer search...

Anyone tried installing the custom kernel mount to external sd to fix the lag issue using JG5 ROM? Or is there a need to do it?

I choose "apply updated.zip" but it show updated fail.

Do I need to unzip the files and place it at sd card? Or just place the original zip file?

1) I press volume up + power + menu.
2) choose apply update.zip
3) then error message fail.

im using kingston.. not even once i could make the fix work on my phone 

I am also having this problem. Warning message about corrupted message, change input to automatic when press send. Receiving party sees question marks only.

On JM2. Will research and try again tomorrow. Sleep time now.
