No offence, but not having time to read up on your club's history is not an excuse. If you have time to post on forums and message boards then you definitely have time to read up some of your club's history. While it's not a requirement to know all the in's and outs of the club in order to be classified as a fan.But you should at least have some basic knowledge of the club's history if you love and support the club. Not quoting "the s***" is basic info no.1 fyi.

And for the last time, stop referring the club as 'The Kop".I cringe everytime i see so-called 'FANS' keep abusing the term.

wah...like a teacher are u..do u think i spend 24 hours a day to post on forums? go n see how frequent i sent message to forum? it doesn't meant that i don't know about some history..then i don't know about other history too...now we r talking about the history of the club..not about the paper..my mistake is posting the article from the paper...is it the paper is in the history of the club too? u don't wanna read the word KOP..so don't read

Added on August 8, 2010, 1:16 pmLiverpool Leading Chase To Sign Manchester City Midfelder Shaun Wright-Phillips - Report
Liverpool seem to be beating Arsenal in the race to sign Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, according to the Mirror.
Wright-Phillips is believed to have been told he can leave the City of Manchester stadium for a fee of around £7 million.

However Arsenal are thought to be unwilling to pay the £65,000-a-week wages he earns and now this has opened the door for Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson to make his move.

Hodgson is confident of signing Wright- Phillips after already persuading his former Chelsea team mate Joe Cole to join the Merseyside club ahead of the Emirates.

Wright-Phillips has already turned down City’s offer of a £10,000-a-week wage increase he was offered at the end of last season and his place has recently come under threat since the arrival of David Silva from Valencia and the imminent arrival of James Milner from Aston Villa.

good option for our flanker..ermmm...maxi still with us...shaun can back him up...like we know how good is Cole...but we need his backup too when he's not available...when he's too good...for sure some of defender will try to kick him out...

Seriously people, what's the point of arguing who knows what here? You are a Liverpool fan, I'm a Liverpool fan, everyone (or maybe 99%) in this topic is a Liverpool fan. So for goodness sake, just stick to being supportive to the club instead of being at loggerheads with one another.

+1 with this. though i dont have a thorough knowledge on the history of the club, at least i do know the important ones and their significance. and as much as it is nice to see many of you contribute to this forum on your thoughts and love for liverpool, i sometimes laugh at a certain few cuz of their post, just hilarious. well, i'm not bashing u ppl, merely just giving my opinion. back on serious note now, mascherano's imminent depature seem to have cooled down no ? but instead poulsen's arrival seem to becoming a reality by next week. i wonder if the more senior and influential members in our squad are trying to convince him to stay. blink.gif

QUOTE(Burningsunz @ Aug 8 2010, 01:15 PM)
i agree. just because we dun know bout the S**N stuff doesnt make us little less supportive towards Liverpool just as you are. when you support a club doesnt mean you have to know everything bout the clubs. some of them support a club because of they way they play on the field..how much of a liverpool fans are we when we turn our back against our fellow supporter?
I could not disagree more. I think that as a fan, you need to know something about the club you support. How can you like something you know nothing about? I can accept that fact that not everyone knows everything about the club but I find it baffling that when prompted to read, some don't bother. You can't know something you didn't know existed but to still ignore it after you do, is something I can't understand. Some claim that fans who know more, are boastful but it isn't about me being better than you. It's about me wanting you to be better and it's frustrating that some fan still don't see the importance in having to know about our history. Don't you find it embarassing that a manc could know more about your club than you do?

I can see why Liverpudians show little respect for OOTs (Out of Towners). They are frustrated that fans from other countries don't have the same sense of passion and commitment as they do. Like most football stadiums in England these days, Anfield isn't as noisy as it once was. This is because of an increasing number of foreign fans who don't even know the lyrics to "You'll Never Walk Alone". These days, songs come mainly from the Kop as season tickets are handed down generation after generation ensuring that there will always be a Scouse presence.

In reference to your comment on the S*N, it's especially important to the families of the 96 that perished and as a fellow fan, you need to make it important to you. I've said before that I'm just as much a fan of Liverpool fans as I am a fan of Liverpool, and I hope you feel the same way. I have great respect of fans who are so committed to the club, and so supportive of the club even when facing imminent defeat. Remember Istanbul? Remember the singing of YNWA at half time? Remember how fans came together to support Michael Shields? Remember how Liverpool fans set their differences aside with Everton to mourn the passing of Rhys Jones? Have you heard about the Justice campaign? Do you understand why thousands of fans gather at Anfield each year for the Hillsborough memorial? Aren't you even remotely curious to know more?

I understand that some comments can come across as harsh but you need to know that I can't for the life of me understand why you think it isn't important to know about the club you support. Once again, I completely disagree that you don't need to know about the club to support the club. In a day and age where fans buy into football brands more than they do football clubs, I think it's increasingly important for older fans to help educate youngers ones so names like Shankly, and memories like Hillsborough are always uttered and never forgotten.

Like you, I'm equally frustrated that fans still use the word wrongly.

Once again everyone, "The Kop", named after the Spion Kop is a stand that houses our most vocal and hardcore supporters. The mancs have Stretford End and we have The Kop. Fans of Liverpool are therefore also knows as "Kopites".

The club is not known as "Kop". Not only is it gramatically wrong, it makes no sense.

Duke, you could have just passed the link to your posts from the "real fan" thread every time someone asks why it's important to be aware on the club's history.
