QUOTE(khalpowers @ Aug 27 2010, 09:19 PM) Bro.. that's bcoz of MOTO downclock to 5 mp.. I found the root app can update the camera but sadly now only for xt 701.. huh.. whoaaa.. camera can downclock meh?? its about sensors btw, not totally megapixels. The update ur talking about is just removing the compression but it does not improve the sensor. The iPhone 4 has more light sensor despite only 5MP producing good images, same goes to Samsung Galaxy S. Its more about lense and sensors now, megapixels dosent really portay a good image quality. Bad sensors with high megapixels produces bad images too

My charge my phone basically everyday. battery life on android and iphone depends on how ur using it.. the multitask feature on android is very handy but it is also a reason of battery drain, you need to use things efficiently in order to be at optimum level of usage. New android users will suffer and cry about this but as they learn how to master their device, it wont be a problem anymore. There are many alternatives on android. Btw, what to expect from a high power draining CPU and HUGE screen display compared to blackberry devices? of course the battery drain is there but technology is increasing day by day to improve and minimize it This post has been edited by pluginbaby: Aug 29 2010, 05:47 PM

I dont know how moderate ur usage is, but if ur looking forward too much on batterylife, i must say u keep away from htc desire. You can never expect too much from a device as it depends on the situation. I charge my phone twice a day or even thrice since i constantly using data and using Twitter application which sync every 1min.. scary isnt it?

well my wildfire as per tested about 2 weeks already... worst case, it did not last me a day (unplug 6am till 6pm, only left 15%~20%) with APN connection on and sync every hour on mails and weather... with about 2+ hours talk time and also some sms... i could not imagine if i really have a lots of calls in and out that day, sure the battery will die much more faster...
so do not hope that it will last you a day if you are really heavy user... but i have 2nd phone my trusted SE normal phone, where it's battery can last my abuse of calls for 1.5~2 days... most of the smartphone is like that except certain which i see X10 got a good battery life... i think u can't get more than 5 android phones where can last you about 8hrs talk time on the data sheet...

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Aug 29 2010, 09:34 PM) By simply turning off my mobile data, my Magic can last for 2 days with 30% left... ...But what's the point? might as well just use a conventional phone.... yes you are rite... what is the purpose to turn off the APN for better battery life... all i want is connectivity to the mail on the go... and most of us bought android cos of the flexibility of the connectivity and it's OS open sources...

I sync my gmail, company email, facebook, and twittee account 24hours a day
- gmail every 15 minutes - company email (live push update) - facebook every 10 minutes - twitter every 10 minutes
Plus, with moderate internet surfing on browser. And very rare to use instant messenger such as yahoo messenger, google talk, facebook chat, and irc chat.
Note: live wallpaper disabled, and no weather widget
I have to charge my nexus twice a day ;-)

For normal voice call on 2g, it doesn't consume lot of battery, for example after few hours on phone call, the battery level only dropped a few percent only.
For backup, don't worry as I have my good old sony ericsson as a 2nd phone. If, in case my nexus die/running out of battery, all phone call will be automatically divert to my sony ericsson (via call forwarding service)
But usually, I manage to charge before it die la. Hehe

One can always get an extra battery . I never consider battery life an issue . It is the last in my list of factors affecting my buying decision.

It is the last in my list of factors affecting my buying decision. battery life is de most important for many ppl. some common examples 1) u dun wanna be caught in de situation where u can't make ur call or send sms bcoz ur fone ran out of juice. 2) constantly look out for powerpoints to charge ur fone. 3) carry xtra battey or two in ur pants or bag. if android can be smart as iOS developer team to optimize battery life instead of juz use "bulldoze" approach of multi-tasking (just leave program in memory) and expecting the users to have geeky knowledge or nerdy frens to help dem install task-killers programs...
