Nope. Multitasking is agreeably the best feature on the iOS to date. It just works perfectly.

Hahahaha, typical apple fanboy. Yeah, i wonder why steve jobs call it multitasking. I don't like how its works, and Apple A4 so slow comparing my nexus one with android. And you need app that support iOS 4, otherwise, it will reload every time you open the app again. It's bad.

hahaha... u come into apple iphone thread... what do u expect? andriod fanboy?
aiyseh... this sort of calling need to stop....

i think there's a thread about android and stuff here at mobile section no? oh and i still think meebo kick the living hell out of andriod in terms of multitasking.....

It's kinda odd that every applications are stored in the tap rather that we can declare which to run at background and which not to put at background

After upgrading my iphone 3gs to IOS 4 for two days, I would say the multitasking is not as good as I thought, it doesn't have granular control such as only allow certain apps for multitask. I still prefer the cynia apps "backgrounder" method.

you guys... are really missing the point. iPhone was *not* designed for the technically minded like all of us here. Cydia is like that, technical and definitely made for the hardcore among us.

Multi-tasking on iOS 4 is for everyone else. the ones who will appreciate that you can listen to your streaming Pandora music while running the tom-tom navigator in the background... here's the main point >> WITHOUT ANY complex stuff. just update the apps, and its done!
that ease of use is that iOS 4 is all about. Use it as designed... if you don't like it, here's 2 options.
1. leave. go buy an Android / WM7 / what ever phone you like.
2. cydia your phone, and 'manage' your phone yourself.

*do not come here and complain that Apple's approach sucks. cos they've managed to sell more phones to more non-technical people than any other company has to date.

Before things get out of hand, let's just get a couple of things straight. With iOS4, there are two main things we need to be aware of when it comes to multitasking, that some seem to be confusing.

1. Multitasking
2. Fast-app switching

First, multitasking, which most of us here understand. It is basically apps running in the background. Easiest example is the iPod app itself, which continues to play music even after you have pressed the Home button.

Second, and this is where some confusion crops up, is when you double click the Home button, this brings up the "Fast-app Switching" row of app icons at the bottom. This is a list of your previously used apps, which basically allows you to switch in and out of apps. The important thing to note here is that not all these apps are active, or multitasking.

Again, just to be clear, this is just a row of apps that you have previously used. The apps in there may be multitasking, or not. To stop a multitasking app, bring up the fast-switching row by double clicking the Home button, press on the app until it jiggles, and then click the red button with the "-" sign. This quits the app, as well as deletes it from your list.

Ok, we may all continue now...

smile.gif the point that Steve was making is that Apple's apps already multi-task. in iOS 4, that ability is allowed to everyone else. but here we are, 10 days after the customer release, and most apps are still not updated.

Rheza, note that I said it's the best feature on the iOS. I am not comparing it to Android's or any other OS' multitasking capabilities.

just curious..

i've just checked the front dimension of the iphone 3gs vs. iphone4.

seems to me they are around the same, just that 3gs is slightly more due to the chrome area is slightly bigger

so do u guys think a 3gs screen protector will fit the iphone 4?

it would be great if it does laugh.gif

anyone with an iphone 4 already can try whether fit or not since 3gs screen protector is not pricey

Hhmm... My birthday events have multiplied by 2 (some 3) in Calendar. And some, I can't delete them. And yes, I've unchecked 'Birthdays' option.

Anybody facing the same problem?

syzwn...

When upgrade OS4 using iTunes, your iPhone didn't transfer the contacts automatically?

Your iTunes cannot transfer all the contacts from iPhone3 to iPhone4??

Why not you try to save all the contacts to the SIM card and save all the SIM card's contacts in iPhone4.. Just using SIM card.... >>just a suggestion
