I think they doubled the amount of lightning to compensate the phone. Hell they even have light go light up the hair doh.gif

its called 'hair light', its a normal thing in modeling photos, to give separation of dark hair against a dark background, if its light hair, it gives more shine.

hmm..wake up early today..gotta meet my potential client later to discuss about a commercial shot..

never really done any commercial product shots b4..any idea how much is the "market price"...? of coz i know diff photographer charges diff price..just need a rough price range so that i wont over/under charge for the shoot..

what the client needs :
1)Basic catalogue shots for website and print
2)Advertising shots

the product would be something an Ipad....it has 80~90% of the ipad look as what i saw in engadget...
*
that really depends..

how big is this project?how much revenue will they expect to get back through this advertisement? what kind of shot are you doing?with or without lightings?

the price can range from few hundred to few thousand and rarely but possibly, tens of thousand(if u are bold enough tongue.gif ).

and you need to put in your cost for the prints as well.

well..im sure they wont tell me their revenue...but their product roughly priced @ SGD500 each(similar to ipad)...lighting??well..most of the product shots involve lighting of coz..and no printing cost for me..i only taking care of shooting..and editing(if needed)..

i know..i do have friend doing product shot for SGD15k per day..i consulted him..but he didnt really tried this kind of small shoots b4..lol..and of coz..i wouldnt compare me against him..so even for small scale shoot..his price might not be realistic for my standard..

did they give you their budget?

so if they manage to sell about 100 products through the shots you take they will be earning SGD50,000 before tax and other cost fees.

charging a few thousand should be ok i guess?

but the range is quite big, 1k to 10k. see how bold you can get, or maybe you can quote them SGD9999 and say its negotiable? brows.gif

8tvt : You do not really need stabilization for a fish-eye lens. Remember the rule for stable shots? 1/focal length shutter speed or higher. A fisheye is rarely (or can I say never) more than 16mm in focal length, so achieving a 1/16 shutter speed or higher is very, very doable in almost all conditions.

this one i quote form review..

QUOTE
Interestingly, one of the consequences of Sony's drive to make the NEX-3 and NEX-5 as small as possible has been to remove the space required for a sensor-based image stabilization system. The NEX-3 and 5 are the first Sony Alpha cameras, in fact, not to feature a variant of Sony's Super SteadyShot stabilization system. Instead stabilization is supplied by Optical SteadyShot units inside some E-mount lenses, including the 18-55mm kit lens, and the forthcoming 18-200mm superzoom.

i just intrigued how they manage to squeeze the camera..
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonynex5nex3/page3.asp

they should just use A-mount and add up more lenses..

ianho: Sweet!

I use Child Priority Face Detection to play "guess who my camera thinks looks younger"!

d4rkholeang3l: It's good but get the HSM OS version - the non-HSM version has some cases of gear stripping.

braindead_fr3ak: The NEX still cannot replace the dSLR for certain applications e.g. when you need bounce flash or wireless flash. So I wouldn't have sold the camera if I were you.

One could get used to the interface, and I don't think it's impossible to make a accessory port to PC Sync/ISO hotshoe adapter.

I bring my dSLR everywhere, by the way!

Str33tBoY: Go down to the pool and take pictures! Don't go further than F16 - you'll get diffraction, a slight softening on the details.

lwliam: I am liking your two recent pictures!

Try laughing instead. It will be contagious.

zstan: If you have the chance to pose them, push the cloth on the right, back a bit. Otherwise I like the color and the realism of the picture!

Mikeshashimi: Problem with compacts is, if you're going somewhere where you can bring the dSLR, you'd do that instead of the compact. You'll probably realize the compact loses colors and dynamic range. As for the dog shot - I use high ISO in daylight to freeze motion.

Uzumaki NaruTo: Eh, hair light is very important! If I had only two lights, I'd have one main light, and one hair light. Or else the hair will blend into the shadows!

achew: Practice at home first with a shiny object - shiny objects are the hardest to shoot while having a good-looking reflection.

zstan: No sensor-shift SteadyShot on the NEX. They have Optical SteadyShot on the Sony E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS and Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 Active OSS.

8tvt: The flange distance (from sensor to mount) is different.

Coz I bought the last 1 from The Curve ma. The guy there didnt even wanna take it out for me. I actually went in about 5 minutes earlier n another salesman brought out a new unit for me but I told him let me think about it 1st. 5 minutes later I went back n told the other salesman I want the Fisheye n he said no more stock. I told him dont bluff la, the other guy showed me new unit just 5 minutes ago only the fella sold it to me. He must have wanted last unit for himself. Dirty bugger. laugh.gif

I really dont understand y so many ppl complaining about the menu. We're basically changing Aperture n ISO only most of the time. Aperture is damn easy by just turning the thumbwheel. ISO is just a few clicks but the Auto ISO from 200-1600 is more than enuf for most situations anyway. The only thing I really dont like about NEX is base ISO of 200. Makes a hell lot of diff when at bright places like the beach.
