Character Infos:

Lightning: Blaster / Attacker(well-balanced)
Fang: Attacker (highest attack points in later part of the game)
Snow: Defender (highest HP)
Hope: Blaster / Healer / Enhancer (highest magic attack)
Vanille: Jammer (has great variety of jamming skills + Death)
Sazh: Enhancer (weak in many ways, low HP, low attack, low magic)

The Japanese version's Roles are Attacker, Blaster, Defender, Enhancer, Jammer, and Healer,
while the English localization calls them Commando, Ravager, Sentinel, Synergist, Saboteur and Medic, respectively.

Been playing FF 13 for more than 50 hrs now, and up till Chapter 11 already. Now doing some monster hunting before going to the Oerba!



Gil is low. You don't get gil for winning. You get them from selling the components you get from the monsters.



So far playing for over 50 hours (between 2 to 6 hr play sessions each) and no problem. Not sure where you here complains from.

Played almost 110 hours (finished main story and now go for plat), never experienced freeze before, and never heard of any complaint on freeze for FF13, where you read the complaint?

Probably that guy playing 24 hours per day until the PS3 overheat, and hang. User problem I guess.

u play 100 hours just for main story ..... i wonder i can finish this game in 20days

Collecting gils is the hardest part in FF13, take times.

The 100 hours including wandering at Gran Pulse, completing 64 missions, hunting for platinum ingots, trapz and dark matter. Is depend on player how they play. Of course the hours was based on the hours shown by FF13, also included the moment I left it running when I am having my meals and doing other house works.

erm, from youtube.. even got one person wants to sue (5 million) square-enix for making his ps3 freezes then cannot turn on edi.

Cannot turn on PS3? I think he overheat his PS3 or his PS3 is time to change, mind to share the link?
I don't think he can successfully sue SE, because look at how many customers SE has, only he complaint, probably is his problem only, overuse PS3 with too long hours.

fuuuu 110 hours ? wow. I'm at chapter 13 but decided to backtrack and finish some Mark missions. Felt ambitious to "farm" for trapz, but the fella stomp one time i die liao. fuuuuuu.
Guess will need to try again after finish main story.

yea a law suit has been filed against sony and/or se regarding freezing ff13 and/or maybe bricking the console...its all over the web now...make me scare to put in my ff13 and take my chances until i really know about it...still googling...

Finished and plat the game in around 80 - 90 hours. It did freeze once but can't really remember. Playing Demon's Soul and Uncharted now and no problem so far with my console.

good luck to you...uncharted or uncharted 2 has also some minor freezing issues...but not as 'brickable' ff13 freezing issues...you could google it first...dont know about demon soul but it was too hard for me...

back to ff13....

to those who completed the main story, do you guys buy chinese edition and used the cd to play the or just make the games as "show"?

Lolz, I also realized it that the monster didn't drop Gil, so the early part to Farm Gil is in Chapter 7 where I farm around 60K Gil before i go on.

By near end of chapter 7, I think i got 80K (with the character starting weapon level up to level 7 minimum). Muahahaha

straight to chapter 13 spot lar... 7 hours 6M gil. just upgrade fang tier 3 max to get 30 sec fight with initial farming before saving.

wanna ask... can we go back to previous chapters? let say chapter 1. or is it only apply to certain chapters?

No, you can only back to Gran Pulse (Chapter 11) and Eden Hall when you reached chapter 12, 13 and after finished the final boss.

Which spot in chap 13 ? The tesseracts area ? fighting the enemies with 32k CP each time ? then go back down to the save point, respawn and repeat, can get about 70k+ each round ~6-7 minutes.

What about Mark mission 7 ? Drops tetradic crown each time. Can upgrade and sell. I need a good Gil spot as well. Doing the trapz multiplication trick.

For me I prefer to hunt at Archeppe Steepe. There's a U layout there that have 2 Adamantortise (1 near the Save Point and another one with 3 wolves). There are also 3 Adamanchilde along the way from the first Adamantortise to the second one. After finishing them off, you can either go to the save point again, or go for the 2 Adamontoise that should be walking near to your distance.

for me its linear.. im at chap 8 or 9 i think

no no... the first save point once teleported to the cradle, in the circular area. you see 3 sacrifice and 4 sacrifice group. you might wanna rape the 3 group 1st to be slightly stronger. then proceed to the 4 group. this is where the 7 hours 6M gill can farm.....and tremendous 5k cp/battle. reset enemy by jumping to lower platform near the flying statue then go up again. reserved 1.3M for triplicate trapz 1M to upgrade max kain lance.

my style is use the few gil you've collected to max taming pole's(t1) to kain lance(t3) max.you will use this type kain lance later in future anyway) the only save money for future. dont forget to switch lightning with atb+15% or +20% synth item with enkindler equipped. convert 3 max tiara to sprint shoes for everybody + morale talisman to Fang. easily 30 sec farming kawtim. in fact i spend a little more time here completing all tier-3 lvl 1 weapon for treasure hunter..hehehe

proceed with game when you satisfied...you might wanna farm 10-15 perovskite from sanctum templar, before encountering 32k cp enemy also before proceed.

in the end i am so rich i buy dark matter,,no need farm from the gui's & no need tortoise gil farm (except mark/trophy) mission.

this is just a recap..i think this already posted before anyway.

wahliao, not so hardcore to Plat / treasure hunter trophy. Just want to upgrade all weapons to ultima. So need gil to upgrade nirvana (vanille's weapon) and disassemble for 3x trapz. I have sprint shoes 3x edi. For lightning i use ultima weapon + windscarf next level item (max) + sprint shoes + energy sash = quick stagger, instant chain, atb 15%, first strike. i use the teserracts area for CP farming. want to max all roles in crystarium and save up to 999k before finish game then upgrade again once the final crystarium level is opened.

Uh what records? Theres no record in FF13

Ya, I also agree hunting Sacrifice. Better hunt before finished the final boss. If not mistaken, after finish the story, can't go back to hunt Sacrifice in the cradle, only can hunt at Eden Hall. Right now, I am just farming Adamantoise for Plat Ingot and Trapz. Got 2 Trapz so far, have to move on to max Kain's Lance and dismantle it.

Adamantite is a rare drop from shao long gui which is 1 of the strongest mob in ffxiii.Or u can buy it at shop .But you have to reach chapter 13 and complete certain mission then only can unlock the shop and the monster.

Eh no lah. Can buy adamantite from R&D Depot. You get it after completing Mission 7 or 8 in Gran Pulse. So around chap 10/11 can get already.

But at chapter 10/11, quite hard to get that amount of money to buy.I think all the upgrade will take about 5-8 adamantite.Plat very long ago, cant remember the exact amount needed.

Upgrade only requires 1 adamantite from axis blade to enkindler. And Yes you can buy at R & D depot.

Been reading this forum and I'm damn impress with those who spend 70+ hours (or even 100+). I'm gonna go for my first platinum here as well but only doing 50+ hours so far and now deciding whether to move on to chapter 12 or go back to gran pulse and farm some more.

Just got my Chinese/English Jap voice version today. it seems the load time is a lot longer than the English version. Anyone else experiencing this too? Also sometimes the voice doesnt come out....

It's 1 adamantite per item. Not 10 adamantite to upgrade 1 item to the next level.

I'm just telling the total needed to get plat.

i am now grinding for gils to ultimate weapon upgrade:
1. Killing adamantortoise at Mission 63
2. Using Fang (Lead), Light, Vanielle (with festisol shroud)
3. Just using bahamut to put the fella down on ground (dont use gestalt)
4. Keep on deburr: impel, deshell,deprotect, slow
5. then Rav,rav, rav till stagger 999.99% (when hitting max stagger, max damage)
6. then Com,com,rav
7. No need do the trapz triple trick, when u farming for gils & i am lucky to obtain total 3 trapz already (although initial i want to do the triple trapz trick)

for CP farming (after i finish mission 63)
1. best monster is shao long gui (120k CP each kill sometimes with dark matter rewards)
2. same team member as above (no need shroud)
3. set sen,sen,sen (as it will cast quake during 1st move)
4. then all buff each other (especially faith,bravery)
5. then debuff the monster with the slow, impel, deshell, deprotect (sab,rav,rav)
6. then rav,rav,rav to stagger till 999.99% stagger (or sab,rav,rav if it didnt get all the ailment we need)
7. then change to com,com,rav
8. whenever it casting quake or ultima, quick shift to senx3 mode, it will make the damage v minimal *this is the most important trick
9. then sab,med,med to stay alive
10. repeat action 5-7
11. normally twice stagger, it will go down
12. prepare foul liquid (cure the daze) & phoenix down

hope this helps....i never got the freeze effect for all game so far

if u still summon bahamut....just summon,then fang cast deprotrct,deshell & imperil,then immediately gestalt.switch syn/syn/symn for brave/enfire.go rav/rav/rav until 970 above then cerberus.much faster....just equip sprint shoes.no need haste rebuff.no need fortisol

Yeah agree. If you want to transform any weapon you just need to use the 1 unit of the right component. Of course need to max out weapon firstlah.

I think you no need to keep reactivate the Mission 63 to kill Adamantortoise to grind for gils, because walk too far. You can try hunting Adamantoise at Eden Hall, shorter walking distance to respawn the Adamantoise and on the way killing those sanctum guards can gain some Incentive Chips and Credit Chips for more gils.

i found gestalt is way too long to make the damage, ravx3 faster stagger the monster, com3x has some issue what i experience, for me com,com,rav will maintain the damage & also stagger simultaneously.

Using sprint shoes, yeah we got haste initially but it wont last long compare using shroud. this is my findings.

when we got the platinum ingot & sometimes trapz, (so no need to grind more gils to buy the component to upgrade the weapon then dismantle it for 3 trapz).

afaik, you don't need the extra RAV if the stagger is already at 999.99%.
COM with enfire will do more damage (with imperil of course). Probably you can take down shaolong gui in just 1 stagger.
Plus, I hate the constant ultima cast if he doesn't die within the 1st stagger.

i kill the final boss in 60hrs game play, but grinding gils/cp at grand pulse till 90hrs+ now

I am not sure if my vanielle will do lots of damage when she is COM mode .
when shaolongui cast ultima/quake, just quick change to sen,sen,sen. will reduce the damage lots. No need cast the magic at all.

shao long gui is easy . i prefer fang/lightning/vanille
debuff until daze. and he cant attack. buff self. important is bravera, enfire and protectra.
i agree that RAV/RAV/RAV will make the stagger bar going down faster. but if you can kill it in 1st stagger. it wont be a problem.

if you do have a problem. then, use SAB/RAV/RAV.. it will make the stagger bar going up faster and going down slower.


for treasure hunter, what i did was, max 3 main weapon 1st (for main battle team). concentrate on synthesizing accessories. FYI, you will get around 1.7M for selling all accessories. so it's 11 plat ingot worth of gil. calculate how many gils are needed for all weapon. if you think it's enough. sell all accessory and buy what's needed. reload after getting trophy.

Most likely already plat after get this trophy, no need reload

haha.who knows. maybe once in a while you would like to visit gran pulse

If you want to get trapz, suggest to go back to Eden to fight Turtle there. It's much easier to farm for trapz there. Farming Long Gui for trapz is too tough.

4. MED/MED/MED heal kasi full.
5. SAB/RAV/RAV spam smpi stagger 900++
6. COM/COM/COM setel

I think Lightning and Vanille aren't synergize enough as SYN duo. As they will only rebuff/cancel the previous buff.
If lightning cast faith to Fang, Vanille will also cast faithra to fang and cancel faith from lightning.
That's why a SYN's Lightning usually have a SYN's Hope as her partner, they have the same type of buff.

yup. but if you already have the buffs, lightning wont cast the buff on you. so either way is ok. cause the only important buffs are haste (in case no sprint shoes equipped), protectra, bravera. i dont use enfire since it would take longer time to wait for lightning to cast on me.

and for me vanille gives alot of advantages than hope. e.g improve debuff, better strength, higher HP.

but in the end, it all depends on personal preference

What I meant is, why wasting the atb on the first buff if it will only be canceled by others.
And why not let Lightning be a SAB, so that she is fully utilized.
Just let both Fang and Vanille do the buff job and Lighting do all the debuff.

Shaolong gui halves the physical damage received, however a simple imperil + enfire will let Fang do a whooping 350k in a single hit.
fyi, Lighting, Hope or Sazh will only cast enfire if shaolong gui is debuffed with imperil.

but in the end, it all depends on personal preference +1
