For me I still would not think Square will be that eager to change the Battle System to something like Kingdom Hearts for the main series. Which is why they made certain adjustments to the Battle Systems but retained the Turned Based fundamental of it. But judging from "Management" decisions in trying to "cater" to the current generation, I seriously do not want a substantial change to any of it's bases of it's main titles.
Nomura has all been about Kingdom Hearts and he's good at what he does. But honestly, I wouldn't want to see a main Final Fantasy game turning into a Kingdom Hearts game. Versus XIII looks awesome, story should be better than XIII from the trailers that were released and I'm looking forward towards the release of this game as I think it'll be quite popular. Nomura has proven himself with Kingdom Hearts and I think a lot of people know that.
Another prime example would be Final Fantasy Tactics, awesome game no doubt but Square did not consider it as their main series due to the fact that experimented with the SRPG genre. Then came Tactics A2. Also there's the RTS Final Fantasy on the NDS based on XII.
All I'm saying is that if they want to do that, then stick something in front, below or behind the Final Fantasy title. Tactics/<Something> Core/Versus <insert number> etc
Despite the issue, I accept that there might be changes whenever a new title is brought out, but too much change or rather, a substantial change to one of it's core mechanics can lead to a very adverse response from fans.
This comes from the fact that, I hate what Square did with letting Double Helix producing Front Mission Evolved. I hate Capcom for letting DMC be rebooted by some studio who produced Heavenly Sword.
You have your point.. But, lol... Tactics is not a game everyone can enjoy.. As good as the metacritics can go or reviews from certain fans, it is definitely a game that require too much thinking and it can't reach a more wider range of audience.. With that, SE is definitely not going to make it.. I for one enjoy it not.. Because I hate to play chess when I am free...
Thing is, again I am not sure how many fans were lamenting about FF not being turn base anymore or the old school turn base like Lost Odyssey.. I mean, most of the comments that I have seen were about their "linear" story lines with no mini games, no solid NPC interactions and lack of lucid open world feel... The characters are too sissy and somewhat not believable.. Everything were way too sloppy so to speak..
So, Its more like people miss the old days for FF's profoundness... Their whacky but smart characters... Gameplay is of course a focus and fans were satisfied at that time with what they were presented.. However, I think given that we are all now under full CG gaming era, people seems to agree that turn base can get a wee bit boring... Alright.. Maybe its just me I duno...
Anyway, I think SE is not stupid enough to have given this FF franchise to another company like DMC... Lol.. They are so going to get screwed by the fans very very hard...hahaha.. And fans are merciless to SE than to Capcom if you know what I mean..

Great debate on turn-based vs action based RPG guys. I like both having played Dragon Age & FF 13 though I consider FF 13 a bit of a hybrid because there is a time-based factor to input your commands as quickly as possible.
One thing developers should do especially for turn based games this days is how to automate actions faster so rpgers can do grinding faster. Eg a macro / shortcut function that remembers all the previous actions to repeat would be good.
Also, can TS update the 1st page on the upcoming FFXIII-2? Nice to know what are the CEs available since it will be here in 3 weeks, instead of trawling through all 51 pages

yea.. tat mechanics wud be a bonus though..
