how about photix strato? ist better then tetra or atlas?
*
hi havent check this thread in a while. the strato works off 2.4 Ghz so it's not compatible with the so called industry standard Pocket wizard. also the units are either receiver or transmitter. For the price in my opinion it would be better to use the Atlas which is a transceiver.

disclaimer: i have not personally use this myself but have tried the other ones.

Sifu.. i have 1 question about speedlight SB600 with D3000

When i attach the sb600 and use P-mode, the shutter will auto go to 1/60, then the flash will adjust exposure by increasing/decreasing the flash power right?

curious about how speedlight works... can some sifu explain how it works actually?

P.S: Do SB600 and Nissin 622MarkII make a good pair of flash for strobist? quite new to lightning and get both of them because of some personal reason....

There are two ways to control a flash: TTL or manual.

When using manual control, the distance, aperture, ISO and flash power affects the exposure.
While in TTL, the distance, aperture and ISO affects the exposure as the camera is deciding the flash power for you.
In both cases, the shutter controls the ambient light.
Its a little confusing at first but you need to do some test shots to understand how it all comes together.

You can read up further here

A SB600 and Nissin is a pretty good combo.
All you need is a trigger so that you can move your flash off camera. thumbup.gif

I'm in the market for a flash modifier/diffuser. Mainly intended to be used together with a SB900 for indoor shootings (events, portraits etc). Especially when the ceiling is too high or no white color walls nearby where bouncing it off is impossible, and direct flash would be too harsh.

Demb Flash Diffuser Pro or Gary Fong's Collapsible Lightsphere?

Any other recommendations? What do you guys use?

I use the Demb and I also have the Lightsphere, but the fake version of it laugh.gif

What I can say is that I prefer the Demb over the Lightsphere. The Lightsphere wastes too much power and when shooting events, that's not good. But I will say that the Lightsphere produces slightly softer flash as compared to the Demb. But for events with high ceilings, the Demb is unbeatable laugh.gif

I can live without the slightly softer lights but not on the lost lights. Defeat the purpose of having external flash in the first place. Looks like Demb is the way to go. Thanks a lot pengster!
