read somewhere [can't remember where] that Astro originated ESPN HD feed will be taken over by ESPN Singapore HQ to provide the playout around wee hours of Aug. 1.

the giveaway is the change of ESPN HD logo ["HD" in black will change to white in color, similar to the ESPN HD Singapore logo].

Look out for it.  Cheers!

The feed now on Astro should be the one beaming out from Singapore. The feed may differ slightly from Singapore as Singtel has BPL rights.....ESPN HD MAL may have some MAL only programs.  For MAL, i believe the BPL rights seems to be shared between Astro and ESS.

There is no Sportscenter in HD on ESPN HD SIN....ESPN HD is not a mirror of the main ESPN channel.

will that mean we get HD content from ESPN now? coz i remembered back in May that a company was installing the final few HD broadcasting sets at the ESPNSTAR HQ and studios in Singapore..the new HD content was due to launch in August..hope that means we can watch Sportscenter or EPL content shows in HD too..that is if we will get EPL in ESPN..

Speaking of which..as I have said earlier, there was no mention of EPL in the ESPN and Star Sports promo for August except for Comminty Shield match..but yesterday when I was eating at Kayu Nasi Kandar, they were showing ESPN and during the ad, the ESPN promo for August was shown..the promo not only had EPL but also Champions League qualifiers..have they changed the promo or is the feed at the mamak different to that with the normal astro subscriber? coz i noticed they were using the astro that had the little white square at the bottom right of the screen..i remembered that someone said that box is only for commercial subscribers like McD for example like during World Cup

15 HD channels by year end: Astro

KOTA KINABALU: Astro viewers will be able to enjoy 15 HD (high definition) channels by the end of this year, an addition to the eight they had now, disclosed its chief operation officer Henry Tan.

“How fast we can convert our programmes into HD is depending on our channel partners to switch to HD,” he said.

To date, Astro has a total of 125 channels, and Tan is confident that their viewership will continue to grow in time to come as TV is an evolution media.

“TV had evolved from the traditional black and white screen to colour and then SD (standard definition) before the introduction of HD system, so after experiencing the HD, I don’t think the people will want to revert back to the old system,” he said.

He told reporters this during a briefing on Astro content (education, Chinese, sports & Merdeka) and its innovation such as HD channels, Byond, Bplayer and PVR at a hotel on Friday.

He said Astro had put aside one-third of its content to promote local interests so as to bring Malaysia into the global pedestal such as in National Geographic

And in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebration, he said Astro had created Mystory in Channel 318 to provide a liberty for Malaysians to share their story in all sort of forms whether through acting, speaking, writing and anything that they can think of.

I can confirm that promo. I saw it just now on ESPN.

15HD channels? Lets see..this thread will be HOT again discussing potential new channels..and it will be HOT again if the channels are not great..or worse still..just wait if Astro dont deliver the 15HD channels..this thread will explode..!!! Roll out thread V6.0
