With the emergence of the Asus G53JW with its built in GTX 460M, Alienware better come up with some hard hitting graphics in its next M15x and M17x before I get one...... Good job with the 5850 OC. Did you run those clocks with a cooler and the air conditioning On or Off?

During battle underground but got lots of smoke and shadows @ 30+ fps. Will try surface on the same settings and get back to you on that....

Yeah, well I wish they come up with a 480m or something that M15x can use. (Without much throttling >.>)
And to be frank, I'm a bit regret of not getting M17x cuz of Dual GPU capability lol.

Well thats if they make it MXM 3 Slot for the M15x to fit. Then we'll worry about the power supply and the throttling.

Your 5850 behaves well. The oc's are pretty steep for the card. Will see how the 5870 handles at those clocks.....

Yeah I've read about it, even if they made MXM3 for it, the problem is PSU. 480/470m are around 75w, so yeah :/
Behaves well or not..Still can't say but I'm not gonna push it so badly lol, I'm just gonna let it stay at 820/1050 and less.
Getting as low as 15FPS playing in campaign in some occasion, but still it was enjoyable somehow

5870m at these clock should be cakes. I'm sort of tempted to upgrade to 5870m but..3 years warranty >.>
And yeah we might really see 470/480m made to m15x so..I'll just wait for at least a year

Alienware m15x could actually used m17x as m17x are mostly dual gpu configuration.

nowadays most of the M11x make it as Dual GPU d, doesnt same a slast time GTX280M is too expensive, but me(T9800 upgraded to QX9300), doc(Q9000) and greesmonkey(QX9300) bought it
now need only 4 figure can reach crossfire performance, last time need 5 figure

sorry, what i meant was the power adapter for m17x can be used for m15x with gtx 470m/480m since m17x are mostly configured with dual gpu crossfire/SLi.

Ah anyway good news to all M15x user, A08 bios is out! Go grab it!
I've heard they fix the CPU throttling and smoother touchpad now.
Gonna do it right away.

Updated to A08, delighted by the touchpad now! It feels like I'm on a different laptop lol.
Gonna see if there is any improvement on cpu or not.

Hmm maybe not so much on performance, 3Dmark06 still gives me the same 12500 score at stock setting.

I don't have 3D Marks 06. Only 3D Marks Vantage.... Can't compare.

trial Vantage can only use once right?
