40k mileage still ok to use 5w-30, you can slowly switch to 10w-40 after ur mileage passed 100k or 80k
*
You will definitely feel the car heavier or loss of power to change from 5W-30 - 10W40

This is just my 2cent about the range of oil that we use for our car....when i was reading it on the internet... The lower value indicate the viscosity of the oil during cold and higher value is viscosity during high temperature...reason why they use for example 0W30...is during cold country, during cold start to protect the parts or when using a brand new engine where the piston are still virgin...so its tighter... But as tear and wear begin pistons gets looser and thats when the mechanic will recommend 10/15W30 oils...this is regardless any brand there are...

Just my opinion...do correct me if my info is wrong...
*
just like mr quazacolt said before, nothing harm using low viscous oil....my saga blm been using 0w30 before after clocking 100k km....superb...very smooth, good FC only the engine is quite noise when reach high RPM...but still i can pedal up to 140-150kmh

act its my dads car..
the warranty just ended so decided to use diff oil instead of petronas syntium which is used by the SC.
the problem is my dad so afraid of imitate oil at the market..
he found out 1 workshop has this lexus oil which he claim buy straight away from spore.
so now the price is not a big prob as long as it is original. smile.gif

so bro, how much the cheapest price u get for the lexus oil? brows.gif

Much cheaper. RM90. Trusted sparepart shop should be fine. So far I like it. 1st time using. Currently.
Just about 1 week.

Buy from workshop usually more costly. Buy from sparepart shop cheaper. Compare prices.

Next time ask your dad buy from me. I charge RM120. Is imported from Japan. laugh.gif

I switch from 5w-30 to 5w-40 of M7 pro oil because the old 5w-30 M7 eco oil has stopped production. Yet I dint feel heavier or loss power. However, I felt more responsive and more fuel save.

Nvm la, if your dad willing to pay RM145 and since workshop said direct from Singapore, I think RM120 he willing to pay geh haha! Instead let workshop untung, I untung lo brows.gif

Yes, is the same. Workshop price on most things usually more expensive. I think they incurred the delivery charges from Sparepart shops as well. Example. My Kelisa Air filter only cost RM10 at sparepart shop. If buy from workshop. Is RM18.

So, I started to look for better options and since I have a few friends doing the same and they told me is cheaper.

Ya some afraid got fake EOs, such as Shell EO especially. Those usually I think I rather buy from Shell Stations since too many case of Shell EOs proven there are lots of fake.

But this Sparepart shop quite reputable and price is cheap. So is quite well known. I'm not worried.

Maybe because yours is M7 laugh.gif
At 1st started to feel heavy on low end. High end was quite alright.
But after a week, now is smooth. Guess it needed time. But from FS to SS can feel the difference.

if your car specifies xw30, don't even bother switching regardless of mileage.

Do we change to a thicker engine oil like 15w50 after the mileage passed 100k mark to 200k? Follow by 10w60 and even thicker oil when mileage increases?

Same as me for my kenari. I went to spareparts shop 1st then only go to workshop and just pay the labour cost since for me cost is really matter. hehe

Yes so true. If afraid of imitated oil, just buy them at petrol stations. Guaranteed it is ori one but less choices.

Seriously you don't change oil vicosity after certain mileage maybe only certain older cars where is not so suitable for thinner oil. But then a friend of mine own a galant vr4, still using 5W30 or so haha! Not necessary if no problems with your car using that EO. Correct me if im wrong.

Yup, but petrol stations you will be paying the high price for sure. Or can purchase from Tesco hypermarkets.
But then still Sparepart shops are cheaper.

Bought my Lexus 5W40, oil filter at RM8 and labour only RM15-20. Save a lot.

Depends on the circumstances, thicker oil can be used to help fill in engine wear gaps.

Been using 10w40 semi since I bought the car.
Since last service I'm feeling a bit of slow reaction and acc then it used to behave..
Should I change the engine grade or brand ? Any suggestion?

i suggest you back to semi 5w30 or fully 5w40 if you feel the car is sluggish...

as for my myvi... tried eneos 5w30, seriously i would say good enough, worth every penny...
then change to lexus 5w40, nothing to complain about but i feel the car pick up not as light as eneos 5w30, my foreman claimed this lube did mix with some addictive or whatever else... not a 100% pure lubricant...

as for the current one, back to eneos but this time is gold bottle 5w40 fully... to be honest, i will never switch to any oil anymore... this 5w40 simply is the best partner for my 6yrs old myvi... pedal more responsive compare to lexus oil and most importantly, i feel comfortable with the car... cheers !

i do found honda oil now sharing the same manufacturer with eneos oil, probably u can use honda 5w30 oil if you have budget concern? else give a try on eneos 5w40 smile.gif
