Nah, nothing special about the graphic card, just some extra name...
Simiar spec with the Dell Vostro 3700, you can consider Acer 5745G, 15.6'', i7 720QM + Nvidia GT330M@RM3799

1. Acer, it has 1 year traveller's international warranty, so it only works if you are only travelling with no intention to reside there...
2. Dell's warranty, you need to upgrade to 3 years for it to be international warranty...
3. Asus, by default it has 2 years international warranty, though no option to extend.

Cannot ask like this because different people got different taste nod.gif..if you ask me, i'll go for A42Jv because its 14" icon_idea.gif (my fave size)..but still, with Dell SXPS16, you get a FullHD screen which is good for people that need a larger workspace compared to A42Jv which is only HD res only nod.gif...

For me, i would still go for A42Jv nod.gif..but the choice is yours nod.gif

Hmm, where's the best place to purchase Asus A42Jv then?
I'll have to dig up more information and get the 'best' deal, since I'm gonna be using this laptop for quite some time!

Hello, since the PC Fair 2010 Part 2 is coming soon, I need advise now to start preparing my target. (I follow the template on 1st post)

I guess my target is somehow many people's target as well because I read a lot of post regarding searching for high-end netbook. I'm sorry but being practical, I think it is easier to find lower-end laptop because current netbook won't last a 4-year campus life.

My (our) focus is on (ultra) portable multimedia, not gaming.

-Brand : any brand is ok for me (nominate and I'll sort it out myself later)
-Budget: Rm1800-RM2300
-Specs:
+ 1. can stream Full HD (1080p) without lag via HDMI port. Some netbook even have HDMI port but they cannot stream full HD smoothly.

+ 2. screen size is not important since I'll connect it to my Tv. Similarly, no need Altec-Lansing grade speaker.

+ 3. I don't play 'heavy' game, so an middle range ATI/NVIDIA graphic card is ok with me, but no Intel/GMA.

+ 4. Preferably sub 2kg, weight typical college girl can carry easily. We need to also consider charger, carry bag, mouse and sometimes cooler pad too right?

+ 5. No need optical drive if possible, since I'll download movie and play directly on laptop.

+ 6. No need bundle operating system or antivirus if possible. The money can use on something better I think.

+ 7. No need high-end processor like Core i7, as long as it can stream HD movie.

+ 8. Small footprint. If possible, I hope to squeeze this laptop in my bag without carrying an extra bag. (Malaysia got a lot of snatch thieves....)

In short conclusion, I'm looking for portability, non-gaming, entertainment laptop. What I do ==> facebook, watch show, light game.

Currently fulfilled target:
- Dell Inspiron 13R (but have bundle Win-7 and McAfee)
- Dell Inspiron M301Z

Everybody is welcome to suggest more model to compare, it helps a lot of people. Thanks a lot !!

I went to my neighborhood computer shop, and the fella recommended HP CQ42-1777X (if I'm not mistaken is the HP G42 and G42t series) and Acer 4741G. Both of which has almost similar specs as Dell SXPS 16 though it is only 14" and no full HD screen. However, it cost RM2.6k and offers a 3 year warranty.

He recommended me to not purchase the Asus A42Jv because the service after purchase is poor. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, he mentioned it is ATI-RADEON 512MB, but it can boost to 1GB. Is the performance of that graphic card far off from NVIDiA 1GB?

The CQ42-177TX and Acer 4741G is no where near the Studio XPS 16 and Asus A42Jv graphic card performances....

Phew, if I didn't come here and ask around. I would've purchased the HP!

But, the Dell SXPS 16 which cost RM2999 is only :
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache)
not Intel Core i5?

The P8700 isn't that far off from i5, it still a fine CPU and for gaming, the GPU is more important...

Yea, it's RM4099. Pretty much way out of my budget.
From this link:
http://www1.ap.dell.com/my/en/home/noteboo...cs=mydhs1&s=dhs

Let's say I upgrade the RM2999 SXPS to i5 without tweaking the specs to RM4099 standard. Do you guys know much it would cost?
