Since u dont game and use it for work..these specs are more than enough to serve your purpose. What screen size are u looking for or are there any brands that u wanna avoid or prefer?
Asus A42Ja, i7 740QM + ATi HD5730@RM3599
Asus N43Jq, i7 740QM + nVidia GT425M@RM3999
Dell Studio XPS 16, i7 740QM + ATi HD5730@RM3999 or go for Studio 14 for smaller screen

screen size, weight and battery life expectation makes a bigger role for us to recommend you a laptop. no gaming = win. u can get btr battery life and less heat less weight out of it =D or even stretch to, like you said. MBP13 =D but seriously i would only consider MBP 15 and above as MBP 13 is using core 2 duo.

13' tops i hate bulky lappies, battery life approx 5 hrs should be sufficient.

i wont go to MBP 15 cause its bulky and like i only need the computer for stuff like data processing and work related things. i dont need some super power thing that i wont use most of its hardware.

+1 for toshiba portage. or if you could top up abit to sony vaio S, fujitsu SH series. im not sure about the price tho.......but i do highly recommend you NOT to take those with high end GPU or just pick the laptop with the strongest GPU within your budget. as the higher the GPU is, the hotter it is, and shorter lifespan too. portege hits ur sweet spot i think. or acer timelineX 3820gt from singapore. other than that, dell latitude 13incher, sony, fujitsu 13 inchers. these are what you should be opting for as they provides more quality than horse power.

I'd just burnt my HP dv2000 laptop motherboard cry.gif and HP tech told me to get a new one since a replacement would cost RM1.5k blink.gif and only have 3 months warranty.

I can't decide icon_question.gif to get which laptop (i'm a noob) but mostly would be use for gaming purposes especially DotA & WoW.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Budget available RM3k but will accept any suggestion at any price as well. notworthy.gif
