Dear sifus of LYN,

Recently i'm thinking to buy a new laptop with the following (preferable) specs:

1. do virtualization (like hackintosh in the box, ubuntu, some other OS running at the same time)
2. software development (.NET that requires big ram D: )
3. Sometimes gaming
4. preferable i7
5. comes with 64-bit Windows 7 OS
6. nice graphic cards (nid to do virtualization and some gaming)
7. CAD drawing (AutoCAD)

So any recommendation? I'm thinking to HP or Lenovo. Dell is a nono and might consider other Japan brands.

budget: RM 4k ~ 6k

Quite urgent cuz nid it by next week. nid to do some comparison and research before buying.

Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Though you could get similar spec with better CPU, i7 740QM with Dell Studio XPS 16@RM3999

I need a suggestion form all sifu here for my new laptop.

This is the first time i buy laptop,I have no experience in buying laptop.

My budget is below rm2.5k.

The purpose for my laptop is for normal offline gaming like Dota,PES 2010 all those, and ofcoz for movie and surfing.

I am a student, and I study at other place away from my hometown,so I need a stable performance laptop that will not bring me a lot of technical problem and need to bring back to fix.

I heard from my fren said that Lenovo and Axus is quite good and very stable.

Any recommendation or experience on Axus or Lenovo?

Thanks in advance!

For RM2.5K, best could get is
Asus A42Jv, i5 450M + nVidia GT335M@RM2499-2599
Acer 4741G, i5 460M + nVidia GT420M@RM2599
Lower than that, would be Dell Inspiron 14R, i3 370M + ATi HD550v@RM2299

@suzann, you might wanna ask the people over at apple byte to confirm the laptop ur getting can use hackintosh, iirc there was something about all ASUS laptops cannot? but i duno much about this... i think you can ask prasys, he is the master notworthy.gif

@unpronounceable,
1)you wanna head over to 14" Laptops (with price) tread, or the 13" & 15" one if that's what you're looking for. Laptop of the month hasn't been updated yet, waiting for all the new models to be launch i think.
2)you wanna check with the shops themselves... those bigger ones (thundermatch i think) can email them.

ok thx!

another question
i heard this A42Jv model has been changed the specs
or rather, downgraded
so is it still worth it?
or it's still the benchmark laptop? even with the new specs?

The Asus A42F, P6100 + Intel HD, freeDOS@RM1699 should be good enough, maybe upgrade the ram since default is 1GB...
or Inspiron 14, P6100 + Intel HD, 2GB, Win 7 HP@RM1749...
