Y460 is basically extinct nowadays n hard to find and it's battery life mostly would be 3 hours.. A42jv won't suit ur needs coz battery life is like 3hours+ only even on battery saving mode..

Any size requirements?? Because M11x is 11" while A42Jv is 14"...care to go for 15"?? laugh.gif

Some that you might consider looking at :

Sony Vaio EA16, i5 520M + ATi HD5650@RM3999
Sony Vaio CW26, i5 520M + Nvidia GT 330M, 1600x900@RM3699
Lenovo Y460, i5 430M + ATi HD5650@RM3299~~i5 540M@RM3499
Asus N82Jq, i7 720QM + Nvidia GT335M@RM4499

*Asus N82Jv , i5 520M + GT335M @RM3999 --> This model is quite hard to find but its better than A42Jv nod.gif

Added on July 8, 2010, 8:15 ambtw, aren't M11x is too small for the apps that you want to run?? CS5 & AutoCAD, a bigger work space sure is nice, like VAIO CW26 nod.gif

hello all XD i bought a laptop recently~ an ASUS N82Jv, im allowed to exchange my laptop for a better one~ within 14 days of purchase, so im now deciding whether to exchange it for the ASUS N61Ja model.

so here's my dilemma, im a student leaving overseas soon~ so as i know N82jv is 14" while N61Ja is 16" will the 16" laptop be a problem in mobility? as in will it be troublesome for me as a student to be carrying it around? is it too heavy? too bulky or anything of sort? anyone experienced with that kind of laptop?

and my second dilemma is the graphics card N82Jv is gt335m would the HD5730 of the N61Ja be any better? if so in what ways? if the same in what way?

thanks! this is my first laptop >_<

I wouldn't really call it as an upgrade though...
and whether it is a problem in mobility or not, depends on yourself, though in general 14'' would be much better since with 16'', your load could near 4KG including the power adaptor, mouse, etc..

Well, there's definitely an improvement, but definitely not worth the extra RM1K...
Unless you are changing to Acer 5943G/Sager NP8690, that's another story...

so the N61Ja was never worth the money? what of my model? was it worth money?

is Acer brand reliable? does it have international warranty?

The N61Ja was worth it at the past since at that time, no notebook comes with HD5730 yet, but now comes with Acer 5943G with ATi HD5850 or there's also Lenovo Y560 with ATi HD5730 + 6GB or Studio XPS 16 with HD5730 + 8GB with similar price point, the only point that N61Ja wins in its international warranty....
As well with the N82Jv, but with the arrival A42Jv, the extra RM1K for N82Jv is also simply can't justify it, if looking from price:performance side....

Acer only got 1 year traveller's international, not a full-pledged international warranty...
