Perform similarly, the only difference is the CPU which you can't really feel significantly...

The price difference is because the N82Jv has USB3.0, bigger HDD, bigger RAM, and its a N-series..

the processing speed of course. because intel jump up from 2 core to 4 core, amd decided to go to 3. for better than 2 performance and lower than 4. which might be on some people budget. performance wise, i can't really tell since it has been quite some time since i read lengthy reviews on processor and such. hosh i love reading them before. now i'm more of photo-junkie.
So it's Dell huh? i don't know my dad will approve on that or not but thanks anyway. wish me luck finding the asus and the lenovo biggrin.gif

Gud Luck..well, for Asus A42Jv, sure still got some stock available i guess while Lenovo Y460, might be hard to find one nod.gif..

Added on July 2, 2010, 9:18 am

Well, Tri-Core means that it have 3 cores in one CPU, while Dual-Core only got 2 cores...which means with 3 cores, you can do a lot more tasks without burdening the CPU on processes, same goes with 2 cores but the performance sure lacks a bit from a 3 cores nod.gif...

Simple example :

One house got 3 cars while another only got 2 cars....so which is more merrier and can do a lot of stuffs?? Sure the house with 3 cars icon_rolleyes.gif

3 core. for those who wanted quad core but in a very tight budget.

ohh, thx for the prompt answer
but most of my friends told me that AMD's processor die faster,
is it true?

hi guys,

As i will be admitting to UNI soon which i will be staying @ hostel over there. Could you guys recommend me a laptop which is value for money. I dunnit any special function, just for me to ordinarily surf on the net, a lil on gaming, doing spreadsheet and the most would be doing presentation. Preferably below MYR2k and most importantly can last me for the whole 3-4years of uni life.

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif

What is the recommendation of Laptop below RM2k ?

Preferably one that has good graphics and processor speed with
RELIABLE brand ( dun really know what brand is truly reliable ) .

Reliable in terms of not crashing or giving problems as such and also
if there is problems , deal with warranty very well .

4740G and 4741G, if you are refering to the same price and spec, they just differ in design...
4741G meant to replace 4740G...

310M is better than HD4330..

For budget RM2.5K, can consider
Acer 4820TG, i5 430M + ATi HD5470/GMA HD@RM2599
Asus A42Dr, AMD N830 + ATi HD5470@RM2599

hi hi refering to the above what if my strict budget is rm2.3k the most

what would u recommend me ??

is there any i3 or i5, with 310M GF and NO DOS??

i would certainly like to purchase that as i got my own GENUINE W7 PRO

i would like to save the money for other purposes

maybe considering upgrading the ram or the processor (if its i3 ) and HD

ok ty.. i hope he reply me fast ... ^^

Added on July 4, 2010, 2:18 amhi guys , may i ask whether 310M GF can support L4D2??

btw , i am also interested in :
1.Toshiba L510-B402, T6570 + ATi HD4570@RM2299 ~~freeDos@RM2099

2.MSI CX420X, i5 430M + ATi HD5470, 2 years@RM2299

3.Acer 4741G, i5 450M + Nvidia 310M, 3 years warranty@RM2299

sifus i would like to know which is the better laptop out of these 3 laptops ,

why no one sayin MSI is good? is it really that bad?? having alot of problem? or software problem?

second is T6570 processor compare to i3 , which is better??

i am choosing these 3 is because of the Graphic card i heard. that 310M is very low end card. compare to HD 5470.. is that true?? if it is ? is it better to go for i5? rather than HD5470 for my tight budget? with i3 and 310M?

thanks

The price should be the same nod.gif...as in normal computer shops, you can try and bargain for more free gifts or maybe a cheap upgrade icon_rolleyes.gif (depends on your bargaining skills laugh.gif)

Forgotten about the MSI laugh.gif
i3 would be slightly better than T6570, but just slightly...
HD5470 would be better....
Gaming usually restricted by the GPU first...

In gaming, usually the bottleneck is the GPU, then comes CPU...
Getting a better GPU would give better improvement in gaming rather than getting better CPU but with poor GPU....

so now my decision is MSI CX420X, i5 430M + ATi HD5470, 2 years@RM2599

and Acer 4745G, i5 430M + ATi HD5470/GMA HD@RM2699

could u suggest which is the best from both of them??

Both would have the simlar performance, just that the Acer 4745G would have better battery life since it got switchable GPU...
