Hey guys
1.Brand A reliable brand (good customer service , and possibly user friendly) 2.Budget Budget would be around 3-3.5k , 4k can also 3.Specs Im looking for a laptop which can last for 5 years Can handle engineering programs like Autocad and the like battery life more than 6 hours if possible 4.Size I dont mind if the screen size is small , as long as it shows the information thats there im fine the laptop should be light and portable enough to carry around college or uni additional info : 1. im starting college soon and my course requires me to complete a large number of assignments 2.im also flying off next year , so to make it easier to contact families and friends , ill be getting skype . so i think it would be good if the laptop had a built in webcam and came with a headset 3.im a light-medium gamer , the only game i'll play on the laptop would be football manager and maybe a few old games like company of heroes or left for dead 4.im not really computer savvy so if possible im trying to find a laptop which if possible has a 0% chance of getting viruses and does not have many technical problems . for example my sisters compaq's battery pack is already dead and she has to rely on the plug to keep it on 5.ive done my homework and people mainly recommended the thinkpad series , macbook pro and the dell latitude series. among these which is the best value ? 6.which companies have very good customer service in canada , because ill be heading there next year . and i need you guys to clarify this thing for me i heard ASUS laptops are good but they easily have problems with the specs and stuff which turns me off getting them .is this true in any sense ? |

Those have similar performance, except the Toshiba M645 which is lower, the rest is just depends you like which brand
Just that don't have longer battery life time than M11x does... QUOTE(edmondyjh @ Jul 3 2010, 12:09 PM) Which setup?QUOTE(Trident @ Jul 3 2010, 11:09 AM) Hey guys Can last for 5 years or not, none can guarantee that, well unless you have insurance company to do that....1.Brand A reliable brand (good customer service , and possibly user friendly) 2.Budget Budget would be around 3-3.5k , 4k can also 3.Specs Im looking for a laptop which can last for 5 years Can handle engineering programs like Autocad and the like battery life more than 6 hours if possible 4.Size I dont mind if the screen size is small , as long as it shows the information thats there im fine the laptop should be light and portable enough to carry around college or uni additional info : 1. im starting college soon and my course requires me to complete a large number of assignments 2.im also flying off next year , so to make it easier to contact families and friends , ill be getting skype . so i think it would be good if the laptop had a built in webcam and came with a headset 3.im a light-medium gamer , the only game i'll play on the laptop would be football manager and maybe a few old games like company of heroes or left for dead 4.im not really computer savvy so if possible im trying to find a laptop which if possible has a 0% chance of getting viruses and does not have many technical problems . for example my sisters compaq's battery pack is already dead and she has to rely on the plug to keep it on 5.ive done my homework and people mainly recommended the thinkpad series , macbook pro and the dell latitude series. among these which is the best value ? 6.which companies have very good customer service in canada , because ill be heading there next year . and i need you guys to clarify this thing for me i heard ASUS laptops are good but they easily have problems with the specs and stuff which turns me off getting them .is this true in any sense ? 4. No laptop is virus-proof, its all depends on the user itself to take care of it...... 5. Those three are good, especially with their build quality, but Mac don't support AutoCAD natively, and with that budget, will need to sacrifice on performance side for the better built... As for cost effective notebook for now, considering 5 years is a long time and you in the middle of it, you might find the notebook is not enough anymore for your task, can consider Asus A42Jv, i4 450M + Nvidia GT335M@RM2999 which comes with 2 years global warranty... But you need to scratch that 6 hours battery requirement... This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Jul 3 2010, 01:53 PM |

Perform similarly, the only difference is the CPU which you can't really feel significantly...
The price difference is because the N82Jv has USB3.0, bigger HDD, bigger RAM, and its a N-series.. |
