Speaking of tripods, what tripod is recommended for A200 + F58 + beercan max? Rough estimate around 2.5kg i think. Budget not more than RM300 icon_question.gif

And yet another Danbo spam XD

OK... Im considering biggrin.gif

For DSLR + 70200F2.8 lens + VG + flash gun... which benro (tripod + head) should I look at?

FYI,
A550 ~ 599g (without battery)
70200G ~ 1500g (incl tripod mount)
VG-B50AM ~ 290g (without battery)
HVL-F58AM - ~440g (without battery)

Batteries:
NP-FM500H 2 pcs ~ 78g x 2 = 156g (2 pcs)
Eneloop AA 4 pcs ~ 150g (4 pcs) nb: I think should be 15g for 4 pcs... not sure.

Total weight ~ (599 + 1500 + 290 + 440 + 156 + 150)g
= ~ 3135g  <--- maybe wrong as wrong AA battery weight... but roughly slightly above ~3kg
Hence, which Benro Tripod and Ballhead should I choose? and how much?

Also, can anyone suggest a good seller so that I can order via phone or email or private msg ?

Thanks

u see, when u get a tripod/head with 12kg load, not because of tahan the camera gear itself(as if a gear can go up to 12kg, a bag of rice),...
the uses ball head with 12kg load, so u can loosen the friction so u can swivel with ease.... if u have a 3kg gear on 4kg head, when u slang it at 80degree, it will fall itself to 90++ degree even at tighten friction/lock.
as for the tripod load limit, its not about the head+gear,... its about how u wan to stabilize the pod too, by adding weight to the pod, (yes, add weight, not during u carry, when u deploy it) by hooking ur BAG (more heavy then ur gear i believe), hence the 12kg limit~~ wink.gif u wont wan ur 3kg gear on top of the pod making the pod unstable and fall right? wink.gif

i always advise ppl to jump to 12kg load, coz, alang alang u buy 8kg, next time spend money to upgrade summore. tripod is something u can do just 1 time investment instead of repeating investment, pick a right one, it last for generations (seriously,... generations) tongue.gif

Banzai_san, wingster: hahaha CF of coz light lor, but lighter by 30% but spend 2-3 times the amount yo! so comes the next question, does it really worth it? if u goes mountain hiking, yes, coz u will be walking with it for 2-7 hours, lighter better. but, 90% of us here, throw in car bah... LOL!
i aaallmmmoosttt brought this (rm1.8k), CF version of Travel Angel
Attached Image
lucky didnt, coz it'd burn deep my pocket hahaha, but still, my dream tripod tongue.gif

zeipher: read my reply for banzai san above... why 12kg, or some ppl can settle for 8kg

guys, u have to understand, tripod itself, when u buy those manfrotto or benro, which are designed much lighter then china ones hehe, they are so light, when u mount 2kg stuff at 1 meter height, it will still becomes unstable~ do u wan to risk ur gears??? hence, the 'hook' for u to hook ur bags, but if u bag is 5kg(with all the other toys inside), will u still get a 4kg pod?

if u have the money, straight go for rm600-700 12kg load pod (A-268m8+BH-1 is less then 700 actually) .... there is a reason i like to promote the travel angel series, its compact and nice for ppl like me... i wan to bring my tripod in flight, not check in, 3 of my friend who fly, required to check in their tripod due to too big, and 2 of them vmad.gif vmad.gif coz the airline broke their tripod!

if u dont have the money, and need a pod or something to stable it, u can
i) buy a cheap pod under rm200 for temporary use until u can afford pod like A-268m8+BH-1
ii) get a beanbag, its less then rm20, and u can get 10 of them with rm200 tongue.gif

somehow, i felt like i just shared a gearhead opinion... LOL, but its a humble 2 cent. getting a proper gear is important, but many still survive with what they have in their hand... i am still using my gf's father tripod which is older then me.

hey albert, hehehe, well, its was a good experience to shoot like that. learn a lot bout how light/flash react at diff angle smile.gif

hey i called u just now for 2 very crazy idea/question i have in my head (u know i have all the hardest to answer question tongue.gif)

i) if i snoot my flash, does the distance increase? or its still the same? (i think it suppose to stay the same right?) just wondering, if i can boost the 105mm flash head zoom to even further distance by adding snot. (of coz a careful designed snoot, wont wan to risk overheating the head... lol)

ii)if i add a 1.4x (or 1.7x) tc to crop lens, and attach to FF. let say tamron 17-50mm, (1.4x) it becomes ~24-70, but, does it works like 24-70FF lens(more or less)? F stop sure will increase by 1 stop, and how will the vigneting be? will it be like crop sensor on 35mm(FF) where the barrel still show up, or it will have FF view without barrel or some minor barrel/vignetting? i mean, the possible of the idea?

urgg, u are a little misleading my brother.... but that generalization is bad. but u can apply to ur own ideal not everyone will follow.

i use F4 up to F8 on my 50mm for portraiture, half body, headshot and full body. i will do the same with i have 85, but 85 will increase the shallow-ness of the DOF
*
so basically if F4 is used at 50mm,150mm or 200mm the depth will vary right between all the focal length....???

was about to ask about this Q's..... smile.gif

hazril: YUP. ^^; hence, 85mm F1.4 has higher bokeh(shallow dof) then 50mm F1.4

Bro, i think the manfrotto u mentioned is BH problem probably la, since u mentioned tat it choke when try to swivel around.. because the 190XPROB is like batu d woah.. should be lasting for quite some time, IMHO. But my prob with tat tripod is the weight and length.. Tats why i choose 190CXPRO4, working fine smile.gif But yeah, as u mentioned, need to check the screw once a while  sweat.gif
*
well, that is the sad part... rm400 BH from manfrotto chokes? =.= might as well get the benro that dont choke right? (dare not to compare with photoclam or arca swiss la... those are like buying aeroplane parts... haha super expensive) but some ppl advise to put rm100 more to go from benro to photoclam (the cheapest is rm5xx i think, with 30kg load if i recall)

*edit: i mean my friends rm400 BH... if size and weight is problem, really, travel angel ^^ ~~ hahaha i spread poison like crazy tongue.gif

I'm a complete failure in food photography. Every time I tell myself to get some nice shots of foods. But when the food comes, the food-devil in me comes out and wollap all the food before anything else could happen. ):

ieR: Snooting, depends - if it's the proper reflective barn door type then you should be getting the wide-angle light going forward. If it's just the straws then you lose light.

Yes, I have used a 1.4x teleconverter with APS-C lenses to get full-frame coverage, at the penalty of 1 stop. No vignetting shows.

hazril: F4 at 50mm and 200mm will have the same DOF at the same distance. It's when you move 4 times further away from the subject, to get the 200mm shot framing the same subject and same size, that DOF becomes deeper on the subject.

You can try this easily - shoot something at close range with the 18mm at F5.6. Do the same at 70mm F5.6 at the same distance. Crop the 18mm to the angle of view of the 70mm and change the resolution of the 70mm shot to match the cropped 18mm shot.

You will find that both have the same DOF. So ieR is not completely correct on this one.

Perspective and scale of the background to foreground is what gives the idea that the 85mm F1.4 has more bokeh than the 50mm F1.4. Due to the narrower angle of view of the 85mm, it enlarges the background more than the 50mm does.
