I am talking about brand new rolex in Germany and as well as at Japan.

For the first and 2nd link r both for brand new watch. I have never heard of ppl buying preowned from first and 2nd link before. Only the 3rd link ppl recommended for preowned.

I do not think 3rd link Quark is selling online.
*
OK.. brand new items. lets be clear as I believe blasto, beau etc are talking about pre own. esp Rolex on Zenith movement.. that is 10yrs ago model!

anyway, U have alot of ppl getting new watches thru 1st and 2nd link? deals far better than Msia and SG?
do they sell online? if so they must not be AD.
have U shop thru anyone of them personally?

solar.. go citizen, then U don't get display back
stowa, order now and wait! Antea is just at ~1.5RM no where near 3K.
3K stowa U looking for Stowa MO?
don't want that get a Archemede Deck watch.
http://www.archimede-uhren.de/EN/Deckwatch.htm

or a CW http://www.christopherward.co.uk/view-auto-s.html

want a retailer U can gain access easily, go for Seiko/Citizen/Tissot/Swatch
btw what is static?
this archimede design looks so similar to stowa MO...

and yes after browsing MO, it out shines antea... love the roman numerics & blue hands..

I have my father's old Seiko 5 automatic watch....cannot last more than a day without wearing it. Where can I overhaul this watch? And how much would it cost? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to this

Comparing
- Stowa MO roman white dial blue hands EURO 760
- archimede UA7952-H1.1 EURO 735

Stowa marine original roman

Archimede

Movement
- Stowas states only ETA 6498
- Archimede uses ETA 6498-2 (any difference?)

Deco
- looking from pictures the same blued screws & geneva stripes
- difference is Archimede did not engrave their logo compare to Stowa did

- both model is obviously using the same supplier for the parts.
- both model is made in germany

convert to RM
- Stowa RM3,412 (include 30 euro for deployment clasp)
- Archimede RM3,175 (include 40 euro for deployment clasp)

diff of RM237...

im really noob in branding for watches...

could stowa have a richer history compare to Archimede ?

finishing quality issue ?

somethings to think about here. I assume U looking top grade Archemde?

movement
- both come from same source.
- Stowa finishes the movement and regulate it to their specs, although movement grade when they get from ETA is Elabore. Note the swan neck regulator.
- Archemede iirc it's Standard grade, ETA specs, unless stated. Here U are looking at top grade.

Stowa
user posted image

this is Archemede top grade
user posted image

case
- stowa iirc its done in europe.
- Archemede made by ickers, famous case maker. case not stamp no stress on steel thus stronger

stowa history is richer.

have U seen tourby, those on swan neck regulator are VERY expensive
http://www.tourbywatches.com/shop/category...param=cid%3D%26 ??

I m not sure a lot or few but i have only seen ppl recommended these 2 shops. These 2 r reputated shop in japan. They do not sell online and they r not AD. You might be surprise when u buy from them and u see it is origin from malaysia!

By looking at the price stated on website it is definitely cheaper compare to AD in malaysia and sg. Buying from AD it is all depends on how good u and the sales person. Some ppl can get 15% discount for sports model becoz they r regular customer.

I am still scouting for my first rolex and thinking whether to buy locally or overseas. The only different with local i can pay by credit card installment with higher price or getting a cheaper price with cash at oversea.

wat is... swan neck regulators?

yup im comparing stowa with Archemede top grade version

movement
- stowa advantage is the further regulate (tune) the ETA 6498
- Archemede using ETA 6498-2 (mentioned in their forum while stock last)

can i conclude tat both brands movement is considered ... same level since Stowa is further fine tuned & Archemede is a version 2 of ETA 6498?

Case wise Archemede is stronger than Stowa, its .1mm bigger than stowa

history wise is stowa

Tourby price is just slaughtering.. almost same

http://www.tourbywatches.com/shop/article_...%26aid%3D305%26

price include tax euro 849 but this is hand winding... ??

You are comparing the new model for explorer I 39mm (214270) with old model 36mm (114270). Usually the ppl will state model code rather than model name because rolex always use back the same name.

I was scouting for 114270 before during Jun and cheapest japan selling price was 5300sgd compare to SG AD like ur listed price. Isnt it a lot ?

Anyway milgauss 116400 is dirty cheap now with japan selling sgd5800 and singapore AD selling 7900.

http://www.sg-roc.com/showthread.php?46181...ber-2010/page12 (latest post by kclee)
http://www.u-s.co.jp/shop/goods/goods.aspx?goods=RX1661

anyway sg-roc is really a good place to learn about rolex.

thanx for pointing out, no Rolex expert. Not into Rolex.

I cannot see the price of 116400 listed on the jp site u pointed. that sgd$7900 is MSRP b4 discount. no idea how much discount on 116400, 15%?

is this apple to apple? Jap listed for 498000 yen and the sg-roc list it at 8.8K. if so its ~sgd$800 cheaper in Jap thru gray market. if U fly to Japan often for work it make sense to get it there, else.. fly there just to get watch. not really good deal. Any Rolex gray dealer in Msia?
http://www.u-s.co.jp/shop/goods/goods.aspx?goods=RX1659

I would expect gray to be cheaper, else whats the pt going gray! I went gray for other watches as I am seeing > 60% off from MSRP.

FYI. All rolex sports model has no discount. Only those frequent buyer who is close to salesman then they will have a discount but at most around 15%.

A tokyo vacation trip 7 days is around sgd2k and at the same time i bought a rolex which has sgd800 different. Dont you think is worth to visit japan with 800sgd discount?

I would say u will never get 60% discount off from RRP for any brand of luxury watches from AD or grey market or parellel import. The watches u bought with 60% discount from RRP surely cant sell to any pawn shop or preowned shop next day or 20 years or more but not rolex anytime u can trade in for cash.

I gather u don't comprehend my Ang mo, on a vacation isn't the same as fly there just for watch and fly home the next day.

20yrs for more? have u heard of inflation? even with Rolex U don't make money, esp with servicing cost. want to make $$ go pay with Pam 3yrs ago, used for a yr still can sell higher than retail price!
yes, Rolex U can trade in almost anytime for cash that does not mean U would make a handsome profit which allows you to get a current model without spending more.

as for the watch I got for ~60% off, only I know if I can sell it off today if I want to. U better work on getting your 1st Rolex and leave that part to me.
in times of war, gold can trade anytime for food. I doubt a rolex meant anything. talk about value sweat.gif

as for lux brands no 60% off? U must be kidding! U can easily find FM going on such discount esp those quartz models
3yrs ago u can find Zenith on LVMH friends and family sale going for ~70% off.
IWC if U know where to look also can find it >50%.
to you these brands all no value, pawn shop wouldn't take a at them.

certainly! even with auto, if you don't move enough and it stops. U end up winding it again.
