Hi bro Ricky and fellow FS bros,

These are some of the legendary FSs existed in our life time: Ba ba, Bo bo, LOL, James Bond, Raksasa, Takeshi,
YTH, Hyperion, etc... and of course your current Mercury.

Not to mention bro Randy's famous FS :Sword of Damocles
&
bro Rudy's red Devil

Pardon me if I missed out others FS.

Seeing all these supersized FS make me envious of their owners.

Hi Everyone

I am back from my family trip from Perth Australia.

There are some catching up to do....namely our fight on 2nd June 2012. 1 week before my fight with Bro Ricky, there were no less than 100 messages in our What's App talking about the possible outcome of the fight between James Bond and Mercury. I do not remember any fight previously that created such a buzz. Generally almost everyone was in favour of Mercury winning. Bro Vincent even expressed his concern that the fight may result in James Bond's unplanned demise and generously offered to take care of James Bond's after-life arrangements. nod.gif

Anyway, I prepared James Bond and F1 more than adequately and also with a strategy, of course. The 2 aforesaid fighters will need to be in top form to overcome possibly the biggest locally caught FS who is on form too. I have viewed the previous legendary Fs photos repeatedly and yes, Mercury should be at the very top in terms of size. As I was sparring my FS in the early afternoon, I decided to check my flight and horror horror, it was scheduled to depart at 1700 and not 2000 as I thought. I rushed to Bro Seng's block and the fight started about 1330. My family arrangement (and small send off party) was to meet at the airport at 1445...so...rush again. sweat.gif

The fights:-

Ricky's Sup Sup Sway (Left) V Randy's Cpt Obvious (Right) 020612

Ricky's OPP (Bottom) V Randy's Agent 23 (Top) 020612

It was not a good start for my fighters.....

Randy's F1 (Bottom) V Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Top) 020612

Randy's Tassaract (Bottom) V Ricky's Frankenstein (Top) 020612

Pinky Warhead is a good sized Fs and F1 was probably the more seasoned fighter. I also realised I spelled Frankenstein wrongly all these time...will correct the name soon. Yes, Frankenstein was chopped out but a win is a win, right??? tongue.gif

Finally, we get to see Bro Simon's Fs....a wait of more than 2 years. ....RVP.

Simon's RVP (Top) V Randy's Tassaract (Bottom) 020612

Ricky's Haagen Dazs (Top) V Randy's Padro (Bottom) 020612

Ricky's Remy Martin (Top) V Randy's Voltron Force (Bottom) 020612

At this point in time, I appear to be losing and out comes Hosie de la Heaven.

Randy's Hosie de la Heaven (Bottom) V Ricky's Sup Sup Sway (Top) 020612

Randy's Hosie de la Heaven (Bottom) V Ricky's Remy Martin (Top) 020612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

Randy's F1 (Right) V Ricky's Haagen Dazs (left) 020612

Yes, you guessed it, my secret strategy was to have 2 fighters fight Mercury. F1 was on red hot form and James Bond had a sparring session before leaving home.

So, will Mercury suffer a hat trick of defeat by James Bond?? Would Bro Vincent's worst fear of the demise of James Bond come true???

....to be continued....

Welcome back, Randy. Thanks for posting again. I really doubt Mercury will "kill" James Bond. Mercury is no chopster and James Bond is a fierce fighter though size-wise, Mercury is bigger.

Hi Everyone

Finally, the most eagerly anticipated fight, James Bond against Mercury. Music please....

Ricky's Mercury (Top) V Randy's James Bond (Bottom) 020612

Mercury beat James Bond. But I still have F1, the in form spider ... music again please...

Ricky's Mercury (Left) V Randy's F1 (Right) 020612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

Yes, Mercury is the champion. He will be the FS to beat and I have to extend my hand to congratulate the new L sized champion. notworthy.gif

On my part, I have released all of my Fs, except Hosie de la Heaven and James Bond and rushed off to the airport for my Perth trip.

I would need to start my team afresh and I will be back.

While I was holidaying in Perth, I took the opportunity to check out potential FS spot.

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Those places I searched did not have any sign of FS though the plants there are of a similar breed as ours.

I then went to the museum and check out the insect section.

Attached Image

Well, no FS exhibit and may have to settle for fighting kangeroo instead.

Hi bro Ricky, congrats to your Mercury being the champ. The background music really exhibits the mood of victory.

As requested by Mindstorm, I'm adding a post on my project. Got a female brown Thiania from my last trip back.
I didn't know the female was gravid. Didn't even know if she was an adult. Lo and behold she laid 2 batches of eggs a few months ago.
The first batch dried up but the 2nd batch hatched into 20 babies.

user posted image

It took many days for the slings to vacate the original nest but one by one they eventually braved the world. They were sequentially transferred to disposable clear plastic cups. Using the experience of Mindstorm, I stuck hard plastic into the walls of the cups with tape. Quite artificial but works pretty well. The slings quickly recognized and hid in the slits between the plastic and the wall of the cups.

The greatest concern is obviously food. How do you find food for spiders so small? Thiania are typically not aggressive hunters, which means they are not good at hunting prey their size or bigger than them.

Fortunately, it's summer and my search out in the garden was rewarded. I found plenty of thrips flourishing in the yellow dandelion flowers. And the slings love thrips. A few days of flicking dandelion flowers over the cups to release the thrips and I have mostly fat slings.

user posted image

Since I've been keeping the slings indoors, I've found that they are only active when there is light. Best way to feed is to keep them in a dark room and turn on the lights only when ready to feed them. In that way I can manipulate the cups without the slings trying to escape. Of course, the lights must be left on for the duration of the feed to allow the slings to hunt for food.

I expect them to grow much slower here due to the cooler temperatures but as long as I have food, I should be able to keep them healthy.

They do bicker quite a bit among each other even in the 1st instar. They will grapple first before pushing. No damage done though, as the fangs are too small to cause harm.

user posted image

Will they grow to the same size as their mother from Asia? Or will they be bigger or smaller? Time will tell.

Hi Mangrovejumper, very interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing. May I know which Asian cty the mother Thiani is from? What was its size? What is its status now? I am curious to know her months in captivity.

Today, I showed one south Indian and one Sri Lankan on T-Bha. Both informed me that they have never seen such creatures before though they lived in the villages.

Hi Everyone and Hi Mangrove Jumper

It is very interesting indeed. First time I hearing the word "thrips" and will goggle search later. I think that flower is pronounced as " Dan-di-leon ".

All the best for your project, it is cool. rclxms.gif

On our part, we have unfinished business with our quest to be the best of the best. Bro Jason is here for a short visit and found time to hunt. Bro Ricky naturally hunted as often as I change my underwear and for avoidance of doubt, it is daily. Grand Master Ah Kim also had an ML Fs called 5 leg.

I was at my weakest, most vulnerable stage with only Hosie de la Heaven and James Bond, both veterans long due for release. Both are more than 1 month old and I would not be surprised if they had turned chop. In my 11 days absence, Grand Master Ah Kim baby-sat my 2 F and I forgot to thank him for it. Bro Ricky gave me a newly caught which would be the start of the formation of my new team. I somehow suspect that Bro Ricky arranged for this bout to give my weaken team a thrashing but I relish the role of being the underdog. I did not hunt actively as I was clearing work.

We met in the evening at Seng's place.

Ah Kim's Bunn (Left) V Randy's Newly Caught (Right) 130612

Ricky's Silent Tropper (Right) V Ah Kim's 5 Leg (Left) 130612

Those are the warm up matches and below are the real deal.

Bro Jason had a go at Mercury with Sub 1.

Ricky's Mercury (Bottom) V Jason's Sub 1 (Top) 130612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

This fight is recommended as this is the 1st time I see an Fs holding on to an LC worm and pointing it to its opponent. It is also cute of the winner snatching the LC worm from the vanquished. biggrin.gif

Can my 2 veterans blow off all my competitors ??

Randy's Hosie de la Heaven (Top) V Ah Kim's Bunn (Bottom) 130612

Randy's Hosei de la Heaven (Bottom) V Ricky's Seng Seng (Top) 130612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

There you have it, a never say die attitude. Hosie de la Heaven clinched victory though upside down. Surely that was a first ever..... tongue.gif

Now is the final chapter for James Bond.

Randy's James Bond (Left) V Ricky's Frankenstein (Right) 130612

Randy's James Bond (Top) V Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Bottom) 130612

Randy's James Bond (Top) V Ricky's Silent Tropper (Bottom) 130612

James Bond single handedly destroyed all the members of Team Ricky.

Once again, the inevitable has to happen, no turning back......James Bond against Mercury.

James Bond was fed a diet of plumb housefly while under the loving care of Grand Master Ah Kim and is a close range newly converted chopster. Mercury on the other hand is the largest FS in Singapore.

Randy's James Bond (Left) V Ricky's Mercury (Right) 130612

Mercury has had his championship crowned removed and what can I say???....I am the champion. nod.gif

I said I will be back before but I myself did not expect to sip the champagne of championship so soon.

In the meantime, Bro Ricky has left for Kuantan, Malaysia presumably for Fs re-inforcement and we all await his return......

So, it's back to James Bond. If I remember correctly, the similar situation of Kurt Angle and One-Piece?

Leaving for China tomorrow. So hope to see more interesting stuff when I am back on Monday.

Hi Everyone

Enjoy your trip Mr Utility 47.

In the meantime, team renewal have started with the size ohmy.gif of Horrie Miller (ML) and strength flex.gif of Monadelphous. (SL)

Horrie Miller was caught in the early hours today from Nirvana.

Horrie Miller (Right) V Spar (Left) 140612

Monadelphous despite smaller in size managed to beat Horrie Miller.

Monadelphous (Left) V Horrie Miller (Right) 140612
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This weekend is the perfect time for team strengthening.

Today, Saturday (160612), reached NTU at 0715and released the champion of Singapore, James Bond.

FAREWELL JAMES BOND (160612)

James Bond was still very active and good enough for maybe 1 more week. However, I felt that he had fought honourably and released him together with his 3rd steady GF. Decided to release him at NTU instead of SSS hoping that he, together with Marshall would re-populate NTU with good fighter's genes. James Bond as seen on the video ran on the CB leaf of NTU and immediately headed into the slit of the CB leaf...something the owner (and the former owner) would happily do. tongue.gif

Next destination was Nirvana and caught a good sized one, called Armadale.

Armadale (Top) V Spar (Bottom) 160612

Armadale was the one that did not get away. I thought I had safely kept him in the box but somehow he managed to escape. Waited for 15 minutes before spotting him on a small dry leaf on the grass. He was caught where I previously caught B.A (Hons).

Gave Horrie Miller a Good workout.

Horrie Miller (Right) V Spar II (Left) 160612

Slowly, but surely my new team with Australian inspired names are taking shape.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, Sunday (160612), went to Thomson to hunt and caught a good sized Fs Chopster. Fought him with yesterday's good sized Chopster from Nirvana.

Thomson Chop (Bottom) V Nirvana Chop (Top) 170612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

Decided to retain the winner, Thomson Chop.

After that went to my private spot and was sad to see the tree which I caught Valtor and another tree beside which I caught Mentor had both been chopped down. The pictures shows where the trees previously were.

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Then I proceeded to Parsi and then Nirvana and after a vigorous filtering process, I have Optus, , caught from the Sword of Damocles tree.

My team is now ready, able and willing, namely:-

1. Horrie Miller
2. Monadelphous
3. Armadale
4. Optus
5. Thomson Chop.

Bro Ricky, are you watching???

Hi Everyone

Met up with Bro Ricky in the evening at Thomson on 20 June 2012 for a FS bout.

Ricky's Dizzy (Left) V Randy's Boomerang (Right) 200612

Ricky's Dizzy (Bottom) V Randy's Optus (Top) 200612

Ricky's Triumph (Bottom) V Randy's Monadelphous (Top) 200612

Ricky's Silent Trooper (Bottom) V Randy's Thomson Chop (Top) 200612

Ricky's Triumph (Bottom) V Randy's Armadale (Top) 200612

Ricky's Tau Kua (Right) V Randy's Horrie Miller (Left) 200612

That was the fastest FS bout with 6-0 in favour of Bro Ricky.

A thrashing for which I have no answer to.

Kelong? Barang? kena black magic? .

Can someone please explain my one sided loss ?

Hi Everyone

After the defeat on 20 June 2012, I wasted no time in my team's overhaul.

The 1st 2 new entries were Woffles and Spidey, both gift from Bro Ricky on 20 June 2012. Spidey defeated Horrie Miller at home (din record) and to my horror, Horrie Miller turned chopped on 23 June 2012. I then had an intensive hunt on Saturday (23 June 2012) and added Lombardo (NTU) and Birkoff (Nirvana). Hunted again on 24 June 2012 bringing along Horrie Miller and promising him that I will release him if I catch a good sized one from his hometown. Caught 2 good sized ones there and released him as promised. Out of the 2, retained the smaller one called Kim Jong Il. who beat Monadelphous.

Oh yes, there was a final fight between Bro Ricky's FS on 20 June 2012.

Mercury (Left) V Triumph (Right) 200612

On 24 June 2012, was excited to meet new Kaki's Bro Mario and Bro Kai. Later Bro Shareef came too. Together with Grand Master Ah Kim, Jason, Ricky and myself, it was quite a crowd by Fs standard.

The opening match ....

Randy's Lombardo (Left) V Mario's Olaf (Right) 240612

Bro Ricky then with a dismissive look took out Dizzy to challenge Lombardo.

Ricky's Dizzy (Right) V Randy's Lombardo (Left) 240612

The images from 20 June 2012 came flooding into my mind....how? sad.gif

Bro Kai then took out a very good sized Fs called Onek who beat Bro Jason's good sized Fei.

Kai's Onek (Right) V Jason's Fei (Left) 240612

Out comes Woffles. With a name like that, he can do no wrong.

Randy's Woffles (Right) V Mario's Kogmaw (Left) 240612

Randy's Spidey (Left) V Jason's CB (Right) 240612

Spidey showed once again ...small win big. Upon seeing my happiness, Bro Ricky took out Triumph.............

Ricky's Triumph (Left) V Randy's Spidey (Right) 240612

Spidey lost but it is closer than last week.

Randy's Armardale (Bottom) V Mario's Mika (Top) 240612

Armardale is the remaining team member from last week.

Next is a fierce chopster fight between RVP and Silent Trooper.

Simon's RVP (Top) V Ricky's Silent Trooper (Bottom) 240612 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

.....to be continued....

Hi Everyone

The continuation of the fights......

Kai's King Fisher (Right) V Shareef's Unknown (Left) 240612

Kai's King Fisher (Right) V Jason's CB (Left) 240612

King Fisher would be a name to look out for in the near future.

Nest is my latest addition, Kim Jong Il.

Randy's Kim Jong Il (Top) V Kai's Park Ji Sung (Bottom) 240612

Jason's Spring (Bottom) V Randy's Kim Jong Il (Top) 240612

Ricky's Frankenstein (Right) V Mario's Cohgaht (Left) 240612

Frankenstein has turn chopped.

This is the time for Optus.

Has he settled down ? Can he start on a winning streak?

Randy's Optus (Left) V Mario's Gang Plank (Right) 240612

Randy's Optus (Left) V Kai's Knock Out (Right) 240612

Just days ago, Optus was brushed aside by Dizzy. Bro Ricky took out Tau Kua....would Optus be brushed aside again?

Tau Kua was afterall bigger sized...small win big??

Randy's Optus (Left) V Ricky's Tau Kua (Right) 240612

The crowd rooted for Optus and once again, my speciality of small win big.

Randy's Birkoff (Bottom) V Mario's Lee Loo (Top) 240612

Well, another BIG Fs..Lee Loo. With proper love and care, Lee Loo would be the next BIG thing.

Randy's Birkoff (Top) V Mario's Wo Kong (Bottom) 240612

Out comes Dizzy ...Will Dizzy spoil my winning streak?

Ricky's Dizzy (Right) V Randy's Birkoff (Left) 240612

Yes, Dizzy just have to spoil my party...I took out Armadale and Bro Ricky took out Triumph, deciding to rest Dizzy

Randy's Armadale (Left) V Ricky's Triumph (Right) 240612.

Yes, Armadale managed to beat Triumph. This is sweet revenge as Armardale lost to Triumph just a few days ago.

Before I could celebrate, out comes Dizzy....again.

Ricky's Dizzy (Right) V Randy's Armadale (left) 240612

Shh....Party Pooper....Bro Kai then challeged Dizzy with Onek.

Kai's Onek (Bottom) V Ricky's Dizzy (Top) 240612

Onek did it.

Bro Ricky then took out Pinky Warhead, the deputy to Mercury.

Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Left) V Kai's Onek (Right) 240612

Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Top) V Randy's Woffles (Bottom) 240612

Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Top) V Kai's Knock Out (Bottom) 240612

Ricky's Pinky Warhead (Left) V Jason's Spring (Right) 240612

Pinky Warhead left a trail of destruction and was lovingly kept.

Out then comes Mercury. ohmy.gif

Ricky's Mercury (Top) V Randy's Optus (Bottom) 240612

Ricky's Mercury (Top) V Kai's King Fisher (Bottom) 240612

Pinky Warhead and Mercury ruled the day.

We all had to acknowledged Bro Ricky's superiority and accordingly congratulated him. rclxms.gif

We all had fun.
